The National Youth Service Corps has arrested a 200L student who allegedly obtained a fake degree certificate and was undergoing the orientation exercise at the Zamfara State camp.

Our correspondent learnt that the NYSC last Friday apprehended the student, identified as Rose, who was a 200L Journalism undergraduate at a university in Benin Republic.
The NYSC Director-General, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, confirmed the arrest of the student to our correspondent.
He said that the Benin Republic university wrote to the scheme when its officials discovered her on the social media, posting her photographs in the NYSC uniform in the Zamfara camp.
She was undergoing the Batch C Stream 1 orientation course before she was arrested.
The DG noted that the student had been brought to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and handed over to officials of the Department of State Services for further investigations.
Ibrahim warned that the NYSC would clamp down any fake graduates and certificates, adding that anyone arrested would be handed over for prosecution without showing mercy.
The DG said, “The clampdown on fake graduates and certificates is yielding bad results. On Friday, one of the universities in Cotonou, Benin Republic saw their 200level student in the NYSC uniform on the social media. She is supposed to be a 200-level of the university studying journalism.
But she went and purchased a fake certificate from another Benin Republic university and now served in the camp in Zamfara. So, her classmates saw her on the social media and raised the alarm to the university, which then alerted and wrote me.
“The university said they recognised the efforts of the scheme in nabbing fake graduates and they were not a party to her fake certificate. So we got her arrested in Zamfara. She was brought to Abuja and we have arranged with the DSS to take her away.”

The powers in her father's house command so much influence on her. So much that she has to go about posing for pictures on a platform(Facebook) that she foolishly thought was a preserve of her kinsmen only.

The DG and nysc shud keep shut and be ashamed of themselves. The Benin university had to write them first. They never confirmed the authenticity of her result. Wat a country. There must be apparatus on ground which check all these nonsense.

Almost all cert from Benin university is fake as far as you can pay.

I know Someone who attended a fake uni in Nigeria, that NUC cannot accredit, so there students can't go on Nysc, during there third year they tale there transcript and transfer them to a uni in Benin republic that accepts them wholefully. Before one year they graduate and go to NYSC through it

When it comes to scrutinizing Nigerians for this NYSC scheme, they will ensure they do a thorough check with your university and even stress you to purchase a scratch card to check your WAEC/NECO result in other to ensure you passed through all the academic processes, but they could not even cross check the school this lady came from to confirm if her certificate is genuine or not. They accepted her Just like that and assumed she is real becos she presented a foreign certificate.Make complex nor kill our people for Nigeria.They always feel that anything foreign is authentic and genuine without doing a double check to confirm their weak assumption.

If the girl had not made the mistake of posting her pix on face, that is how she would have pass out from NYSC and issued a certificate. Just look at them talking as if they did any investigation on the lady that resulted to her being caught..

If na Nigerians dem go dey flex muscle and even find ways to stress them even more. I wonder how many people like this lady must have slip pass thier net without being caught. What a shame
