Try to complete the blocking amount if that is the requirement.
Once you fulfil all requirements in Germany embassy, you are already 90% sure of your visa

AYFikayomi:
Hello,

I am supposed to go to Germany for a six-month research program starting November 1 and ending April 30. I will receive funding of €3,000 and am required to supplement the remainder through a blocked account. As such, I am supposed to open a blocked account for three months. Unfortunately, I have only been able to secure funds for two months at this time. Could I apply for a five-month visa starting December 1 and ending April 30 or Starting November 1 and ending March 31?

No specific time.
However, its best once you have a job contract that shows you can carter for yourself and the parent you are bringing into the country.

profsomebody:
At what point can an international student bring their partner to Germany, please?

Pls do I fall under CAT A or B because are they saying german grade or nigerian grade . I really need clarification on that. And also is it compulsory you must notarized all documents for the germany consulate?

Is it a must I write IELTS before I can gain admission to a German uni?
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Immacharles: 12:49pm On Sep 14
You need IELTS to apply to schools in Germany. However, note that there are a few schools where IELTS is not compulsory. With your proof of English proficiency from your school in Nigeria, you may be eligible to apply. Not all schools require Uni-assist either. You can search for schools on DAAD or Mastersportal.

Category A has so many definition.
Did you graduate within the last 1 year with that grade? If so, you are in category A. once your graduation year is above 2 yrs, you don shift into B o. German grading system is over 4. with the lowest grade being the best.

No it is not a must. However, do it if you can afford it to have lots of admission options. Nigeria by default is a english education country but institution admission requirements differ from school to school. If you cant afford it, then streamline your school search to schools that do not accept IELTS. Infact some schools accept English proficiency letter from your Nigeria university

You fall under CAT B since you didn't graduate with first class

How do someone determine if he's in cat A or cat B. I thought those who are in cat A are those with with first class or those going for PhD or scholarships.

Then cat B are people that doesn't have those things in cat A

You are in Category B. I was in category A and the first question I was asked is what qualified me to be in category A which was a first class degree in my bsc. 4.36 is a 2.1 not first class
The interviewer collected my certificate to prove that I was in CAT A before she started interviewing me. So unless you have a scholarship to combine with your result, I think you fall under category B

Germany doesnt have a central application point.
You will need to check individual schools for their application dates and requirements.

Work on your motivation letter as though your life depends on it. If your course does not match what you previously studied your chances are slim to zero. They're very strict now.
