I don’t support his republican capitalism. It’s only for the wealthy. I’m not wealthy. If your family makes over 6 figures but are not millionaires, you will most likely be the hardest hit by his system.
I couldn’t believe my eyes last year when I got my refund embarassed.
Paid enormous taxes last year and got almost nothing back. Thanks to his useless (to regular folks) tax reform.

His system only favors the billionaires and millionaires club. I’m sure the poor people who supported him got the surprise of their lives during last tax season but they are too headstrong to admit when they are wrong.

tell me something, all those tax rebates to the mud. I strongly knew it was a wealth thing and directly helping the rich who now have the "option" of assisting the poor. Most Republicans are actually blue-collar, it's now like they have to depend on the rich to create jobs.

Kekeke grin
Come mama Eliza place and see that u work for nothing.
More than half of your pay goes into the system. Infact, u work to maintain the welfare system practiced here.
So many eu people cashing out monthly just like that without doing anything that at the end of the day, they are better than u that's working grin

Although I heard that if brexit occur, tax reduces.

I will migrate to north korea grin

Not everyone loves government free money. And I'm not even a miss goody two shoes type of person. It just sinks you down and keeps you in a certain type of neighborhood. You can never convert it to cash. Only use it for food. Does that not smell like poverty to you and sinking one down in earth? Apart from there is dignity in labor, me i no want! I just dislike the potentialities surrounding that kind of thing. Free housing in certain neighborhoods is even worse. It will just sink you below below. Especially if you have kids there and they don't end up being educated.

So you think most Nigerians are there by choice?

No. They are there by force.

If all Nigerians were given an opportunity to migrate to Europe or America, the only people left I'm Nigeria would be politicians and their cronies who are milking the system to their benefit.

Even people who have good jobs in Nigeria are migrating to Canada and Australia.

The Chinese control the birth tourism market in Canada, and they charge around $30k per expectant mother.
Since this restriction in the state will create a boom elsewhere, maybe it's time for others like me to cash in on it grin

I have to start searching for 5 to 6 bedroom houses that can accomodate like 12 expectant naija mother at once, and charge a fraction of the cost those Chinese are charging cool

Please shed more light on this. I am interested

This is the pure, undiluted, brutal truth.

it's natural to be envious but it would be pure evil and jealousy for the poor to feel that way despite the way they feel the rich have maligned them.
I didnt even know about the carribean own. I think it's proximity to the United States that's giving them an edge. Together with Mexico and BRazil.

This is a classic conservative style politics. Conservatives somehow believe that trickle down economics create more jobs, however the billionaires just keep the money to themselves. If it's a business, the top executives just payout huge bonus to themselves and reward their shareholders with surplus dividends.
This is what I was saying

It's not even only Nigerians that embark on birth tourism. The percentage of naija women travelling out for such is very little or insignificant in the scheme of things. Chinese are the number 1 culprit.
I don't blame any mother that desires to give their babies 2nd option i.e. a back up nationality.
You are correct. They didn't say nigerian pregant women. ThankGod.

Job that can still be provided without the huge tax breaks.
The middle class has always funded the lower and higher class. That’s a good reason to not make it worse than it already is. Very soon there will be no middle class left
You are riGht dear, how middle class finance the rich doesn't just make sense.

Yet some other first world countries have been managing to do this without killing off its middle class. We can do better honestly.

Their intentions are shady anyways and it’s not primarily about fear of capital flight.

Oga all this story will not change the basic point I am making that the more Nigerians that keep running abroad and lamenting from afar instead of coming back and playing their own little part in improving the country, the more things are going to remain the same for us.

I am well travelled too and have two degrees from the U.K. were I lived for 7 years before returning willingly to Nigeria because no corrupt political establishment is going to turn me into refugee in another mans country. We will make it work here or we die here. It’s our country to defend.

Sowore you speak of left His comfortable life in the U.S to try and spark a revolution in Nigeria which led to his arrest and harassment by the government..what he did went a long way in reorienting and enlightening our youth. so did Kalu and many other activists. More and more foreign trained entrepreneurs I know are coming back to Nigeria to play their part in at least moving the private sector forward since government cannot help. These are the little gestures I am talking about that if we all play our little part then with time, things will improve. Instead of running to foreign countries then lamenting when those countries no longer want you.

We can’t keep waiting for some politician to save us. We have to make it happen ourselves.
You are correct. At least, improving the PRivate sector

Those tax breaks was given to help those companies avoid moving their Companies to Countries that have very low taxes. Most of those Companies laid-off workers when they needed to move out of the US. And as a result the availability for jobs was not as surplus it is now with the current tax break.
so middle class are basically paying for their jobs through tax rebates. Omatseo

Nigeria cannot be fixed

Whether as a unit or divided into bits
The mentality in Nigeria and Africa is FVCKED

All you can do is to hustle and make some money to provide some cushion against the mess in the zoo.

That's just the fact

A country that believe so much in superstition
Does not encourage merit
And are wicked to the core
Cannot develpp

You have said it all. The person you quoted is probably going to steal more than the present crop of embezzlers we have running the country. Corrupt politicians are elected from corrupt candidates who are chosen from among corrupt citizens. Just walk into any government office and see. Even traders would try to cheat you if they think you don’t know what you want.

The truth is, our terrible leaders represent the majority of us, that’s why they won their positions. If reasonable, accountable people were the majority of our population, we would end up with reasonable leaders.

Nigeria is not heading in the right direction and may not for the next few decades. Everybody is justified to jump ship if they can.

Mama Eliza has killed us grin

The remaining, council tax will collect.

About the capital flight i spoke from the economics point of view.
See what capital flight plunged Nigeria into?
If not for folks in diaspora, Zimbabwe would have been better.

Some USA companies relocated cos of tax. Some were on the verge of relocating b4 that drastic law was made.
At the end of the day even with the increase in middle class tax, they still pay collectively higher than what the middle class summed together pays.
So it's a necessary evil but will not tarry long.
USA went on recession and haven't recovered yet, somebody gat to bear the blunt somewhere.

That's what they want to replicate in Nigeria but Nigeria don't have any working system.

So the middleman in our case bears it all grin

We go survive las las

Perfect. People always brush over the difference between the working, middle and upper-classes in these threads and it makes the whole discussion meaningless.

What exactly are you "staying to develop" when your education, training and general expectation for life as an adult are drastically different from what you are experiencing in reality? Is a teacher or a nurse supposed to be struggling to eat?

So why wont they swarm the airport like locusts Thats what people dont understand. If you want the educated, middle class majority to stay and develop the place, you have to make sure that at the very least, their lives wont be a living hell.

"Work hard kids, study hard...be disciplined...one day you'll be a lawyer....a doctor...and...."

And you wont have running water, constant electricity, decent wages or be able to walk down street without some haggard, disgusting fellow appearing to call himself a "Police officer" (who, by the way, is supposed to be part of that trained middle class) harassing you for N20 and waving his loaded gun.

Does it make sense To anybody...?

Well, to be honest, that is the job of the upper/middle class. It's their responsibility to ensure things are OK not just because they want them to be so, but for society's benefit. It's where their children will reside when they are no more. I don't expect the people in Potiskum or Oron to participate in civil protests and demand for good governance because they don't know what a functioning society should be like.

Unfortunately, Nigeria's upper/middle class is/are selfish and most are adamant to admit that they are.

If they move out of the country

They should also sell their products out of the USA too

Or bring it and pay high fees.

The govt have been sucking up to yhrde grerfu corporations for decades that they have become spoilt and entitled

Give them incentives
But they have to pay their fair share of tax
Even tho it should not be excessive

You can also give them tax breaks on condition they expand investment and create even more jobs or do CSR (which btw the corporations are not doing)

We cannot continue to give them.breaks upon breaks, and breaking the middle class backs to cover up for the shortfall
