Re: Uber Passenger Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon by Reference(m): 7:05am On Feb 16, 2020 |
Eteka1: Oga you are speculating. She is certain. The man's suicide may be out of personal reasons or not. Goverment actions on the ither hand particularly the one in Lagos and at the centre will certainly drive many to suicide. No doubt. How many tricycle riders in Lagos would have contemplated suicide over the past few weeks due to loss of income and debts on investment. The Arab spring started in Tunisia when a poor hawker's goods were seized and he burnt himself alive. The impact of goverment's decisions can have widespread and devastating consequences on the most vulnerable in society. Goverment's good policies and acts can bring prosperity to a people and nation. Goverment's bad policies and acts can bring penury and misery to a people and can drive those at the edge over. Be sensitive. 1 Like |

Re: Uber Passenger Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon by Eteka1(m): 7:17am On Feb 16, 2020 |
Reference:You are still speculating. In the absence of irrefutable evidence that this man committed suicide due to a government policy rather than for personal and or emotional reasons, It is improper for one to come to a conclusion on one side or the other. |

omoiyalayi: So what is the function of goverment if not for the well being of the citizenry. Some of you out of sentiment are just completely out of touch with the reality of your existence as citizens of this country. So why do.you vote ? The goverment should be seriously concerned if citizens are killing themselves FOR ANY REASON. It is like saying what is the business of goverment if corona virus enters Nigeria, did they send anyone to China ? It is like saying what is the business of goverment if I kill my wife, did they marry her for me. That is just plain silly. The goverment is accountable for the life and death of every citizen and in civilised societies the mental healrh of citizens is goverments responsibility. Please there is a limit to politics. Stop the sentiement. |

Eteka1:Don't mind people that have Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). They have the urge and obsession to call and think Daura every waking moment of their life, they then turn round and blame Daura for every thing wrong with their lives. If it's not Daura they are obsessed with, then it's Tinubu or Yoruba. It a huge burden to carry and it's self leads to depression and other mental illnesses. I wound be surprised if the people jumping into the lagoon are such people. Suicide is usually as a result of depression. It knows no race, tribe, religion or class. In fact rich people has a higher tendency to commit suicide than poor people. Poor people cope with the hope and a prayer for a better tomorrow, rich people have no such coping mechanism. 1 Like |

Eteka1: Oga. Whether you like it or not. Every death is a goverment statistic and ultimately a goverment responsibility. When the statistic becomes visible it will certainly become a political issue because folks will be seeking explanations, answers and solutions from the leadership they elect. If I run my car into a ditch and kill myself you may say it is not goverment"s business, it is my fault, but when hospitals are getting filled with corpses and cases it will certainly become a political issue because the role of the goverment through the FRSC will come under scrutiny. Once again donot be beclouded by sentiment. The number of suicides on that bridge alone in the past few years is visible and a cause for concern and the goverment should wake up and take note. It is a political matter. They either solve it, slow it or make way for those who care and can. That should be your minimum duty as a citizen of this country who cares about his fellow man above his personal interest. To hold those in office accountable for the welfare of all men and women of this country. When a gun man runs riot in the USA and shoots people it instantly becomes a political football. The argument doesn't start and ends with the mental state of the shooter. People question gun laws and regulation, question police profiling, question the second amendment. Here we hold no one accountable except blame the victims. 1 Like |

It is high time to construct human barriers on this bridge and others, at least to lessen the number of foolish people taking to suicide daily. If only he understood the punishment that awaited his foolish actions in the hereafter, which is incomparable to any suffering here on earth, he would have endured. Anyway, he is lost, and lost to hell fire forever |

Sewgon79:We are even lucky he killed only himself, other places they kill many others before killing himself. In Thailand last week a soldier killed 21 people and injured dozens more before being shot. It's a kind of suicide because he knew he would be killed and wanted to kill as many people before being killed. |

Re: Uber Passenger Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon by wirinet(m): 7:56am On Feb 16, 2020 |
luluosas:False belief. Eternal hell fire is a concept introduced by the Greeks in the form of hades. The Romans changed hades to Pluto. And the Christian writers decided to incorporate the concept into their new religion. Judaism has no concept. Moses never mention hell or hell fire in the Pentateuch. |
