Witchcraft is the practice of casting spells, tying knots and performing other magical techniques to harm people either physically or mentally, and therefore it may result in killing, afflicting illness, or causing discord between a husband and his wife. Allah says," And (yet) they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife." witchcraft is the outcome of an alliance between the sorcerer and the devil in which they help one another to disbelief, sin and aggression. the following verses provide Qur'anic evidence on prohibition of witchcraft. " What they have crafted is but the stick of a magician, and the magician will not succeed whatever he is" "It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic.
Ruling on the treatment of magic with magic.
Ibn ul-Qayyim said, "al-nushran is the undoing of magic and removal of its effect and it is of two types:

1. The first is the removal of the magic inflicted on someone by means of another instance of magic, which is the work of the devil. thus, by practicing what Satan likes, the one who treats magic with magic and the person under treatment draw nearer to Satan, so he undose what he did to the bewitched.
2. The second type of nushrah is the removal of the effect of witchcraft by means of al- ruqyah (supplication and Qur'anic verses), seeking refuge with Allah, permissible supplications and remedies. This type is permissible and recommended.

Signs by which a sorcerer is known:
1. Requesting to have one of the belongings of the sick person, such as his underwear.
2. Asking a person about his mother's name.
3. Writing talismans mumbling unclear words.
4. Giving someone unknown things and asking him to burn them or bury them in the ground.
5. Talking to unseen creatures (jinn) and asking for their help.
6. Asking someone to remain in a state of ritual impurity.
7. Asking someone, sometimes, to wear across.
