LegendHero:You are talking arrant nonsense! When Yorubas voted along ideological lines pre-Buhari, you eulogized yourselves for being principled... Now that the Igbos have begun to get their calculations right by making a tough call on incompetent candidates, you are denigrating them. Your blinkered sense of evaluation tells you that life began and will end with Buhari and Osinbanjo but discerning people know better. We have almost always made the right calls politically in this Nigeria. We never supported Buhari and history and developments have completely vindicated us. The political prospects of the Igbo looks very bright if you can look beyond the anomie playing out now. Relevance is not forged on the anvil of noisemaking... |

9japride:i am Igbo from enugu state I will tell you boldly we are the most tribalist ethnicity in Nigeria most Nigerians are educated illiterates first of all what’s the meaning of tribe ? It’s clan or community separated from each other and igbos have stereotypes about other tribes like Yoruba and Hausa, which prevent them from broadening their mind, learning more about different cultures and befriending people who do not belong to their own tribe...a tribalistic person Boasts about the merits and good qualities of the tribe, but refuses to recognize its bad qualities and faults, sometimes even trying to hide them,Prefers marriage only between the members of a native tribe, as opposed to the intertribal marriages. We always feel we are superior and that’s why we are hated everywhere we go I see it here in California it’s very visible to the eyes if you like believe it our problem is that we are living in denial 2 Likes |

7lives:Stop emoting like a stark illiterate. The last time I checked, Atiku is yet to be charged or convicted of graft by any court both domestically and internationally. The Igbos should have voted for a candidate representing a major political party and cleared by INEC to run because your twisted assessment and cogitation were saying otherwise, abi? |

Chris1987: Being proud of one's tribe is not tribalism. Guy wake up, there is a very strong hate towards Igbo in Nigeria. Many of them are influenced by nollywood and lies told to them by their parents. Also, a if a certain tribe is not ready to adapt to civilization or is being two faced and the Igbos are not pretending to call out such tribe is that tribalism? Most tribes in Nigeria are not ready for development because of selfish and wicked leaders they have. On the issue of marriage, I won't let my love one marry a tribe that hates me and says that Igbos will never be the president of this country. You are not just marrying a single individual, you are marrying the whole family members, which will eventually subject the innocent Igbo person to untold animosity. 1 Like |

maestroferddi: Yorubas voted against Obasanjo, Obasanjo will not win his ward in Owu, even if he contest against a Ghanian. I trust omo Oodua, they will reject obj again and again. It has nothing to do with envy or hate, Obasanjo has always been anti people and so our people will always reject him. Igbo voted Obj because they and Obj have something in common, selfishness. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Chris1987: Humans hate people who show off, I can agree that Igbos usually show off because many of them got their success without the help of federal government, which other tribes in Nigeria are benefiting from the corrupt government structure. Igbos are not responsible for anyone misfortune or problems. There are a lot of problems facing Nigeria such as Fulani herdsmen attacks, boko haram, poverty etc but yet nobody is hating them rather they will leave those issues to face the Igbo, it's just plain jealousy. Igbos is not one of the problems affecting anyone and secondly, other tribes hating Igbos are mostly done out of envy. I am also being careful when dealing with other African countries too because many of them are envious of Nigeria. I doubt if you are Igbo. You need to come to Nigeria and witness high grade hate towards Igbos from other tribes who are happy that Igbos were slaughtered in the civil war and you expect the Igbo to play with you? It's not possible, Igbos are very real and don't pretend like westerners. You can't call someone who is bold a tribalistic. |

7lives: Bruv, I am totally down with that. As a liberal and pragmatic Yoruba man I understand that we must still persevere with the structure that exists before we gain what we want. Watch Yoruba elite and you will see their thinking is the same. We saw harmonized evidence of this new thinking with the formal introduction of DAWN. Yoruba intelligentsia now fully understand we may never develop to our true potential if we continue to be held back by the ways and thinking of others. Yet we are not rigid, self-deceitful or myopic like the Igbos to be shouting secession up and down impotently. We accept that the constitution forbids secession so we must look for other ways to be more independent within the ambit of Nigeria's current reality. That thinking gave birth to DAWN and now Amotekun. I expect it is only the beginning and Yorubas, a practical people, will do more to ensure our region starts insulating itself, as much as possible, from the madness of Nigeria. If anyone can do it, it will be the focused and deliberate Yorubas. We all saw this with Amotekun 3 Likes |

I my opinion and experience, the writer spoke freely about the north and got it right there, he then massaged the ego of the West while leaving many questions unanswered and then said almost nothing about his own region, the east. Northerners are driven by religion, everyone there is fanatical, both Christians and Muslims, see what that little girl Leah Sharibu did? I can bet you that only a northern christian will do such. According to the writer, the western region majorly follow a mainstream party and alienate anyone who is not from there. A lot of people believed this without actually thinking. How does this explain the fact that Oyo state have never been governed successively by a single party? This does not explain the fact that APC almost lost Osun state to PDP. Seyi Makinde is loved by his people, so was Fayose. They were not demonized as the writer insinuated. In my opinion, Yorubas abhor bad leadership irrespective of party. As for the East, whatever you meant does not explain why a certain party is demonized over there, i.e. if you speak for APC, you are seen as an alien. Rochas Okorocha is actually better than most governors from there but he is portrayed as the worst thing that ever happened there. It does not explain why the first military coup took place. Let me rest my case. 1 Like 1 Share |
