The Nigerian government has made a payment of over N200 billion to the power sector towards improving electricity supply.

The group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation, NNPC, Mr. Mele Kyari, disclosed this on Wednesday after a closed-door meeting, between the NNPC team, Minister of Power, Mr Saleh Mamman and Managing Director of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Mr Usman Mohammed.

He said;

Actually the federal government has made payment of over N200 billion for power in the last 23 days and this will go a long way to ensure that issues around power supply are addressed.

According to Kyari, the team was in the Ministry of Power to inform the minister that in the last one or two months and particularly during the COVID-19 period, NNPC has increased gas supply to the power sector.

He added that, there will be a significant improvement in power generation in all federal government and associated power facilities.

He added;

This also means that Nigerians will get better access to power during this lockdown period and going forward.

There are issues around the power supply process and we have discussed most of them and we are moving as a team to make sure that we resolve issues around payment and evacuation.

We are very confident that this will get the desired result. We will visit some power plants tomorrow to make sure that we sort out any issue to ensure that Nigerians have access to better power.

How long shall we continue to fake it? What other evidence do we need to conclude it's a fake and forceful union?

Let's not waste our time and resources any further because its like an outpouring of waters in a basket of a 1914 fake and forceful union. How long shall we keep pouring waters in an empty basket? It's foolishness!

Releasing the said amount for the purpose stated is all well and good...until you realise it has no effect on the amount of electricity Nigerians have daily...meaning they must have massively looted the said fund with reckless abandon.

Nigeria is seriously messed up and cooked.

Social media is the best thing that happened to Nigerian politicians.

It's a big advantage for them because it's the only place Nigerians can rant, wail and protest against politicians.

We act on social media, they act and loot in reality.
