Hi,

I need help, please. I'm scheduling appointment for B1/B2 interview for my family. When I got to a section where I have to validate the payment receipt, all other 3 receipts (myself and two daughters) were validated except that of my wife. It's showing receipt number not valid or incorrect. I have deleted her profile and start all over yet same result.

I went back to GT Bank branch where I made the payments, they said only US embassy can rectify it and gave me an email and number to contact. I have sent 3 email, no response. I have as well been calling since May 9th, the embassy is not picking.

I need to get this resolved.

Meanwhile I’m a saxophonist(full time ) though I have other business I do but majorly into music. No travel history in my late 20s and single though wedding is coming up later this year. Please how can I go about it and what are my chances. They are sponsoring the whole trip. S godly family, own a church in the US and also registered business. I really need help on how I can go about it. CC fkj950ax

Try P1 visa but in this case a petition needs to be filed with USCIS . I am suggesting this since you are a professional Saxophonist.

I think the first question is why do you want to go to the US? Holiday or relocating?

Single, no travel history, young, limited financial strength is a tough profile to use in convincing a VO you are coming back.

Given this is a Non-Immigrant thread, are you considering immigrant purposes based on the above?

It's always a red flag at US Embassy when you have a sponsor picking part or all of your bill. It is an indicator your current financial status can motivate you to decline returning from a country with greater economic opportunities.

If you have immigration intent, and willing to work as a saxophonist, join their church and apply for a Religious Worker Visa, (I don't know what its called).
They must be ready to employ you in their church, and attest to a lot of things. You should check if there is a thread on this.

Good afternoon everyone and thanks for all your insights on this, you've been very helpful, I applied for a visiting visa in April and have not gotten an interview date yet, I'm wondering what could be the cause for the delay, can anyone help with an answer? Thank you.

You have to book an interview date yourself, and there are no close-by dates currently. You can be given a date, so the issue of delay is not in play.

Until you fill the form, pay the fees and book a date, your April application is not complete.

We can chat here in nairaland. I suggested P1VISA cos you said you have somebody in the USA. All they need to do is consult an immigration attorney over there to help you in the filing of the petition. But if your main intention is just visiting then you should apply for B1/B2 visa .
P1visa is only if you intend to go to the USA to perform as an artist , a group or a sports person.

Is he performing a show in U.S? You can apply for B1/B2... although lack of travel history is a disadvantage, it's not the end of the world....

I already told him that if his main purpose is just to visit then B1/B2 visa is what he needs.

Hi guys! I'm a green card holder in the states. My 7yrs old daughter is in Nigeria and I applied for an immigrant visa for her. But while its still pending, I want her to come visit me. However, I also invited my grandma to visit and her interview is on October. I am contemplating on adding my daughter to my grandma's application. Please do you guys think my daughter stands a chance of getting the visa? Should I include her in my grandma's application or should I file a separate ds-160 for her? Have anyone gone through this type of case before, how did you do it?

PS
I just want her to come visit for at least for 2 to 3 months and go back to Naija. I don't mind having her visit once every year until her immigrant visa is out. What is the best way to go about it and how do I convince the VO that she has no intent to stay?

Advice needed. No insults please.

Time: dunno couldn't go in with a digital watch.

Doubt my transcript would be of any help because my interview was incredibly brief.

I was asked only 3 questions:-
1. Why are you going to the US?
2. Where are you going?
3. What do you do?

I noticed that people who were interviewed before me were asked more questions than I was.

The man barely looked at me. He spent more time typing away on his computer.

My appointment was for 9am but my big head didn't make it to the consulate till like 9:30.

There was no queue at the entrace of the screening hall probably because everyone but me came early enough. The security guards asked for bribe before letting me in. Typical.

There weren't a lot of people there so I didn't have to wait long before proceeding to the interview hall.

There were 3 VOs and for some reason they took their time with the applicants and asked quite a bit of qquestions. They weren't even rushing.

I saw a few F1 applicants young and not so young get denied. Some parents who went with their kids got denied as well after tensioning them with more questions.

NOTE: those who agents for their entire application process should be careful. Filling a ds-160 form isn't hard, take your time and do it yourself.

Two people who used agents were sent back at the screening hall. One of them had a confirmation printout that said june 8th 2021 but when they checked their records it was for March 2022.

Try to at least log into your profile to see the thing yourself. Print your confirmation yourself instead of showing up with some document some shady guy gave you.
