Hopefully you don’t get banned . Your chances of getting an approval after many refusals is slim. You’re already giving desperation vibes. Goodluck still oma22: |

Good morning sirs and mas. Please, I need your help My younger sister and I both applied for study permit March 19 this year, did our biometrics and got a correspondence letter as regards the biometrics April 23. Only to get a refusal letter May 11. Below is a breakdown of the documents I uploaded for my application. * Acceptance Letter * Receipt of my tuition deposit * University transcript * University Certificate * Notification of Result * NYSC discharge certificate * WAEC Certificate * Medium of Instruction from my Uni. * Attestation of Birth (together with sworn affidavit of declaration of age which carried my spouse’s surname as Nee * Marriage Certificate * Newspaper Publication * Sworn Affidavit of Change of Name * Police Character Certificate * International Passport (old plus new) * Late Mum’s Pension Registration Certificate * Pension Statement of Account (of 11.2M): this is yer to be paid into the estate account opened in the bank. * Hubby’s Bank Statement of about 6M (as he’s my co-sponsor) * Letter of Explanation * Mum’s Death Certificate (as a proof that she’s late) * Letter of Administration (LOA): gotten from the court that myself and immediate sibling are both entitled to our mum’s estate. However, the balance on the pension account quoted in the LOA is about #5.5m and not the full balance. * Letter of Sponsorship * Affidavit of Sponsorship * Hubby’s CAC certificate (as he self employed) * Sales Receipts to show proof of transactions. * Hubby’s international passport data page. Sister’s Documentation: * WAEC certificate * Acceptance Letter * Attestation of Birth * Police Character Certificate * International Passport * Late Mum’s Pension Registration Certificate * Pension Statement of Account * Hubby’s Bank statement (hereafter, brother-in-law) * Letter of Explanation * Mum’s Death Certificate * Letter of Administration (LOA) * Letter of Sponsorship * Affidavit of Sponsorship * brother-in-law CAC certificate * Sales Receipts to show proof of transactions. * brother-in-law international passport data page. Below were my (same reasons stated for sis) refusal grounds: Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds: • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the purpose of your visit. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of residence. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your current employment situation. • I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status. You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee. Please I need your contributions to help me make informed decisions as here are my concerns below: 1. I’m in a state of dilemma of either getting a refund for the fees paid or defer the admission. Although, I have mailed the college about the refusal and asked if my admission can be deferred to the next session (Fall 2021) and they said yes. But I am worried coz I got admission for a post secondary certificate course in buiz Administration and not PGC (and of which I have a B.sc degree in Entrepreneurial Studies and I’m at the skills stage of ACCA; all these declared in my LOE).Please would getting a refund and applying for a PGC be the better option or to defer? 2. After the refusal, one of my hubby’s friends said one of the reasons I got refused was coz I didn’t notarize all of the documents submitted. Please, how true is this? So that I’ll have to notarize when next I’m reapplying. 3. Please I need your directions on the next steps to take people as I am confused on wat to do I’m really sorry for this long epistle, it’s just that I need to come clean so I get the right advice. |

NwanyiOkpa: Why would one need a visa to attend online classes? I believe the purpose of the visa is to allow entry into the country, if you will be studying online then i think it makes sense that proof of payment of fees should be sufficient for now until one needs to be physically present. It is like saying people who do online degrees need a visa? Abi is my logic wrong? 1 Like 1 Share |

It is like saying people who do online degrees need a visa? You might as well be taking an online degree at the school, does that mean one needs a visa to take online courses? |

Wunaarroon69: Banned for applying multiple times?? Interesting, never heard of that and I don’t think it’s correct. You can apply as much as possible, there is no limit on the number of times you can apply. Some people get the 4th application. It all depends on how important it is to u. And note I have gotten medical request, done and passed my medicals, waiting for the next step. 1 Like |

jpepper: I think It’s because of the pandemic, you can start face to face when the travel restrictions have been lifted. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by jpepper: 10:01am On May 18, 2020 |
oma22: Yes I understand that, it makes sense. My point is why are folks saying you need a visa to attend online classes? if the school is providing that alternative for now due to covid is it not because they are aware you cannot be physically present? Is visa requirement for online classes a directive from the school or embassy or just a wrong assumption? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Insanity(m): 10:02am On May 18, 2020 |
jpepper: I reckon this is because you need a study permit to start your studies, and you need your visa to get a study permit. On my offer letter, I have a deadline to show my study permit at the school before the commencement of my program. 1 Like |

Hello guys, Please is there any Canadian school that is still accepting applications for Fall 2020, maybe due to COVID-19? Kindly help with any information please. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by jpepper: 10:18am On May 18, 2020 |
Insanity: I get your point, i think you were asked to present a permit “at” the school because they assumed that you will be physically present which the “normal” scenario. A study permit allows one to study “in” a country, if you are studying online you are not in the country for that period abi? Anyway let me not over-flog this issue, i am sure our schools will provide guidance. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Nobody: 10:18am On May 18, 2020 |
jpepper:@jpepper You want to start lectures when there's no guarantee you'll get a visa. (God forbid) what if you dont get the visa when travel restrictions are lifted and people start travelling. what will you do then? So getting the visa serves as a guarantee, thats why the visa is very important. If you are delayed, defer your course. CIC is aware of the timeline. As it stands, covid has really slowed things down. Hence, the need for online classes So just be patient bro till you get your visa I wish you the best 2 Likes |

Meek127:Thank you very much! I have searched but seems they are all closed for the year. I know that quite a number of them would allow online enrollment for the time being due to COVID-19. So processing permit might not be an issue. |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Luckymama: 11:14am On May 18, 2020 |
@sterling1122, to the best of my knowledge, applying for a post secondary certificate after a B.Sc is what earned you a “purpose of visit” denial. From what I have learnt there needs to be study progression, so you need to apply for a course that is linked to either your work experience or previous degree. As for funds, it may be better to wait until the entire estate (your mum’s) is liquidated so you have the entire 11 million at your disposal. At the same time I don’t know if that money will suffice for the both of you at the same time. Though with these people sef one can never tell because even when you apply with more than enough funds they still deny. To give yourselves the best chance, get another admission that shows study progression- perhaps a masters or at the very least a post graduate diploma. Then one of you should choose to apply while the other supports. You also did not indicate if you work as I noticed you had a refusal for current employment situation. If you work include evidence of this - especially if it’s a good job. All the best |

jpepper: The explanation I got from my school is that since my course is not ordinarily available as an online program, I will need to show a study permit to commence first semester online, because subsequent semesters will be face to face. Of what use is the first semester if I cant continue with the class and other semesters are not available online? This requirement is not compulsory for courses that ordinarily have online option. |
