PROFESSIONAL AND ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

A Medical Doctor by Training
A Consultant Anaesthesiologist by specialization at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City.
Was sponsored by the British Government Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for a further one year training in Advanced Pain Management in Liverpool, U.K.
He rose through the ranks from Lecturer 1 to a full Professor of Anaesthesiology at the University of Benin, Benin City.
He has numerous academic and professional publications in various local, National, International and foreign Journals.

POLITICAL BACKGROUND

A versatile student activist in his university days.
Was elected President of the Students Union of the University of Benin in 1979/80 session.
After University graduation, he went through the mandatory one year medical internship (Housemanship) at Specialist Hospital, Benin City and then, NYSC, in Borno State.
After NYSC, He worked in Kano as a Private Medical Practitioner, until 1987, when the Military Government of Gen Babagida lifted the ban on politics.
In 1987, he returned to his state (defunct Bendel state), contested and won election as a councillor in the then Ugboko ward in Orhionmwon LGA.
When the military administration allowed formation of political associations in 1988, he was the State Director of Organization of the defunct Peoples Front Nigeria (PFN) formed by the late Maj Gen. Shehu Musa Yaradua.
The Babagida administration later banned the political associations and formed two national political parties, viz the social democratic party (SDP) and National Republic convention (NRC) in 1989.
Prof. Amadasun joined the SDP, and vied for the governorship nomination in 1991. He lost to the eventual winner, Chief John Odigie Oyegun.
Since then, Prof. Amadasun, while gradually climbing the academic and professional ladder in his chosen career, remained active in the politics of his state.
In 2016, he tried his hand again for elective office. He was one of 12 aspirants in APC that contested the gubernatorial nomination primaries in Edo State. Godwin Obaseki won the primaries and went on to win the election.
