You mean the majority of VAT comes from states the FG have spent enormous resources over the years developing their infrastructure?

You don't mean it. I find the results absolutely shocking.

First, try and understand what they mean by VAT.

Abeg what state are you from? If you are not a true indigene of Lagos then shut your mouth. Besides Lagos which we all know is at advantage because FG makes it that way, show me which other state can be compared to Rivers?
Kano with almost 3 times the population of Rivers counldnt generate more vat than Rivers. As for the anambala chest beaters I spit on them.

When people place orders for my products they are charged VAT right from the proforma invoice and when they pay I remit the VAT to the Tax authorities here in Lagos because but in reality the VAT was borne by the last user in some other state ...It's clear you have been living a subsidized life all your life , you have never paid any tax I suspect except maybe PAYE if you have proper job and not all these subsidized political aide job ..Have you ever ran a proper business before so?

You are confused .

VAT is an unending thing.
Even when you finish with the product and throw it in the bin. Removing the bin is value addition and may attract VAT

Imported Goods e.g from UK may contain VAT that was PAID to UK government through UK companies.
Infact a single product sold in Nigeria could have gone through processing leading to VAT charges paid in multiple countries

Just like exported goods from Nigeria may contain VAT paid in Nigeria

The end user in Nigeria or wherever pays ultimately but that is irrelevant for VAT ATTRIBUTION

. So ONCE AGAIN. that end user remark is ABSOLUTELY WRONG

The key issue is where is the business charging the VAT located

When it comes to VAT every region bears it's pound for pound , no region is doing more than another pound for pound

You are not communicating

The fact is that Lagos generates more than half of the VAT

"Bearing it" is a construct with meaning best known to you

Many things imported into Nigeria are priced with VAT paid in the places of origin.

Shipping a container from Holland will attract VAT to the
Cost of shipping
Insurance
Etc. Every single value addition activity OUTSIDE NIGERIA
PAID IN HOLLAND
The cost is borne in Nigeria. SO WHAT?

The end user in Nigeria ultimately pays
SO WHAT?
That is not a relevant detail as far as VAT collection is concerned.

Vat is just a function of population, don't make it look like a big deal

I typically ignore people deliberately trying to be deceitful. However to expose your deceit to those who don't know, please respond yes or no if the VAT being discussed are on made in Nigeria products or imported goods?

If it's on imported goods, then was it collected at the point of entry into Nigeria or was the VAT a sales tax collected at the place of sale where the product was sold, as practiced in normal civilized countries?

Now you can see through your thinly packaged deceit. You collect extra duties on imported goods and call that VAT. Only for the same goods to be loaded on a container truck and shipped to Onitsha main market where the final consumers pay extra money on it because of your VAT!

Now, everyone sees why you have struggled to kill any entry port (seaport or airport) in the SE and SS from functioning.
Yeye dey smell.

Import duties are collected by the Customs

VAT is collected by businesses.

They are COMPLETELY different things

A butcher butchers a cow and sells the parts . He has ADDED VALUE. That activity attracts VAT which the butcher should pay

A restaurateur buys meat from the butcher to sell in her restaurant. Another layer of VAT collected and payable by the restaurateur

An importer brings in a container and pays duty to the Customs.

He now keeps the goods in a warehouse in Lagos he pays the warehouse owner for that and pays VAT for that service.
He transports the container to Abuja tha is another service that attracts VAT. That would be reckoned to wherever the transport company is registered e.g it could be registered in Kwara state even though the goods move from Lagos to Abuja that VAT is reckoned to Kwara.
A brewery adds value at its plant in Lagos VAT charged in Lagos
Hotel chills the beer in Calabar VAT added charged in Calabar. Completely different things
The company is responsible for paying VAT to the FIRS

Summary VAT has NOTHING to do with import duties

Ode the VAT is it your kinsmen that contributed to it, check this below tell me what Yorubas contributing, I just pray this country will divide for you guys to see how empty you are, you don't even have gas to power your region, everyday you guys rant over the tax revenue because they use Lagos as headquarter but you guys are so dumb to know gas that power those three power plants in Yoruba land doesn't come from your region, I just pray quick desolation of this country then you will know the real meaning of barren grin

If not the companis own by others, tel me what Yoruba contributing? These are top firms that contribute to Nigeria tax revenue, mind you GTBANK is UK firm

Shut up. SE are the poverty capital of the south.

Do you want to tell me those banks are not in other region? Is UBA only domiciled in the SW? Why are they not generating the same source of revenue from the SE?

SE is a barren land that can’t generate nada.

Yoruba have the ability of attracting foreign investments, of Nigeria break up, it will only give other foreign players the ability to come and invest in the Yoruba region and that will complement our local investors.

Barren SE can’t get any patronage coz even your own people are running away from your land like it’s a war torn area.
