1. Though Atiku had good points about the sales of the refineries but he cannot be trusted to be in charge of the sales. Heck, the reason he was heavily attacked by Nigerians when he proposed such. 2. Buhari's APC knew very well that Atiku's idea was not bad but due to the kind of malicious politics we play here, instead of agreeing with him and proposing to do same, they condemned the policy entirely. As much as I am glad Atiku didn't win, I was never in doubt what a disaster, clueless and deceitful Buhari's government was going to continue being beyond 2019. The consolation was that everything was going to remain status quo or regress badly until at least 2023. Then another can take the pains to rebuild us and our economy. But with Atiku, how do you rebuild or recover if he legally sells everything we have to himself or cronies like he suggested? Now, my own opinion about the sale of our refineries is that we should be ashamed of ourselves. It's an indictment on our public/civil service that we cannot efficiently and gainfully manage our state owned companies. Btazil's Petrobras, China's sinopec, Singapore's SPC, Saudi Aramco, Qatar petroleum etc all come to mind. They are all state owned and partially run by their civil servants, yet they are some of the highest grossing listed companies in the world. So, why sell off NNPC to individual monopolists who doesn't care about the true production of oil other than making profits? Why can't Nigeria manage some of these corporations? Nothing wrong in privatizing the NNPC's refineries, but the problem is selling it off to cronies who don't have passion for the sector except profits that come with it. We should also know that oil sector (extraction industry) is different from telecommunication sector (service industry). The only problem with Nigeria is lack of reward and punishment system in all sectors of our national life. Otherwise, state owned NNPC can efficiently and economically compete with SINOPEC any day. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Only an idiot still believes that the Nigerian govt can manage and operate any enterprise efficiently. The only large government owned company which works efficiently today in Nigeria is NLNG, and that's because it's run by IOCs. In my opinion, seaports should be privatised, airports should be privatised, railways and trains should be privatised, police should be regionalised, universities should be privatised, refineries and pipelines should be privatised, major federal highways should be privatised with tollgates, all hospitals should be privatised. This is the only way anything can ever work in Nigeria because anything the govt manages dies or ends up being a perpetual liability breathing on life support. I remember how Kachikwu was disgraced out of NNPC when he made strong suggestions to sell off those govt liabilities call refineries. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

We dey do ourselves cos we no gree act Them dey do us cos we allow them to rape us without condom come even give us aboniki balm to suit the pain They go still do us till we get sense, stand up and say no to their bullshit, but as usual, Nigerians only care about themselves and the general benefit is never worked for Lol |

obailala: Nigerians have very low financial intelligence. Infact, everyone does until adequately trained When Atiku suggested the selling off of NNPC, they called him Atiku. That's for the bulk of APC supporters. When a business man gets the chance to run Nigeria backed by political will, alot of things will change. 2 Likes |

MyMouth: Your apology is still useless. Nigerians call their saviours scammers, and call scammers their saviour. You think a man will come up with a good idea and not be able to carry it out ? Better let him be with his idea. Let buhary run his own ideas. The results will show. 1 Like |

obailala: In a PPP arrangement, imagine the income to government and the attendant income in income and corporate tax! We the people of Nigeria are a people heavily sedated in delusion: we want first class products, services, lifestyle, etc., -- for free!!! Further reason why religious enterprises have a field day in this country making humongous amount of money from deluded-miracle-waiting folks. 1 Like |
