The African continent has been blessed with many great footballers. It will be somewhat difficult to pick the greatest among them.

But, here is a short list of African great footballers:

Samuel Eto'o
He was a prolific goalscorer, and a four times African player of the year. He won three UEFA Champions League title. Widely regarded as one of Africa greatest striker of all time, in his prime he was admired as one of the best striker in the world.

George Weah;
He is retired Liberian professional footballer. He was known for his acceleration, dribbling skills coupled with an exceptional finishing. He won the Ballon d'or in 1995(The only African to do so).

Abedi Pele;
He is an attacking midfielder who found success with ligue1 club Marseille and Lille. He was awarded African player of the year thrice and won the UEFA Champions League once, among other titles.

Roger Milla;
He is a retired Cameroonian professional footballer. He is a prolific goalscorer and was known to have scored 405 goals throughout his Club career. He is the oldest goalscorer in World Cup history.

Didier Drogba;
He was well known for his time with Chelsea where he won the UEFA Champions League once and was four times Premier league champion. He won the African player of the year twice.

Who is the greatest, feel free to comment

roger Milla with Cameroon has shined a brighter light on Africa than any of the other above players. he "single-handedly" showed African football to the world (before then, nobody even knew about African football) and no other African country has ever done remotely what Cameroon did in 1990 (beating Argentina who were WC holder and who went to the final that year). 2 other African team have reached the quarter final of the WC after Cameroon, Ghana and Senegal.

so as much as the above mentioned players did a great job in their local team (when surrounded by foreign players), Roger Milla did better than any of them with his national team (aka Africa)... thus my choice for African greatest player.
