The rules seem like we're in a socialist system. Nigeria is a capitalist country. The rules must not be by force. It's the rules of the union and you must not be a member of the union. There's freedom of association. If the rules are not to the benefit of your business u should leave the union |

The street is strict Blend in into the system. Be vocal in supporting the excos in whatever they are doing whether good or bad. Then you will become popular among them. In the next election, they will want to bring you in because they will feel you are one there side. Once you are in as an exco, you can then fight to modify or break the bad the system. 1 Like 1 Share |

Such nonsense can never happen in an Igbo or Hausa market. These other people form unions in virtually every thing. Nonsense. 4 Likes |

You can sale from home too, make deliveries to homies and shops around you. Create some buzz online and see your responds. Even hotels and restaurants need people that can supply them vegetables and don’t limit yourself to just onions. 2 Likes |

My dear, maybe you can also add another item, like tomatoes, or vegetables, or dried fish, I think you are amazing and can do more, because you have the tendency, but do not break any rules, although some rules are not relevant. Go and be innovative. 3 Likes |

Blessamaka: This so called market unions are very strong and stupid sets of authoritative people I guess your mum knows all these rules before going into the same trade Unless the rules came out of this COVID-19, if yes then she is not the only one affected |

Blessamaka: I know boundary market too well. My advise is that you leave the market environment, to another site, where such rules don't apply. This set of rules apply to almost all the sectors in the market, eg: Tomatoes, pepper, fish, oil. etc. But there are those who sell those things outside the market environment, far from their control. 2 Likes |

Just become a union leader. Join the business politics to change the laws to suitable ones or to suit your needs. |

This same nonsense was brought by some unions to my dad decades ago. The union excos met their match when the police officers sternly instructed them to leave Dad's business alone, as he runs a registered company and cannot be compelled to join any union. Dear Op, Find a means to register your business or register your Mom's business. Please, don't just register as onions seller, make it comprehensive: vegetables, seasonings, soup ingredients, etc. Then, take your hustle online. Concentrate on your locale, so that deliveries won't be too much of a hassle. Be safety conscious too. Use your education to help yourself and your family. Forget the unions.
