My dear I understand your plight or sorry very well.I passed through pharmacy school so I no what it is like.but I know most college of medicine don't withdraw student in first yr without giving the student a chance for a repeat. Even during MBBS a student that failed two course with score of 40 can be allowed to repeat the year it is wen the student fails a second time that he/she is withdrawn. But nevertheless if ur school is different no problem.
Please tell ur parents about ur predicament they will be mad but they will reover with time.and it will help you too to recover fast and move on with life without making costly mistake. The impact of lying to them now will be so much leta.
Just find a way to relate it to them.take it that it is your destiny face it with boldness.the formal VC of my school then was once withdrawn from college but he leta went back and made it big in medicine.
Even one formal CBN manager but he leta read economics and graduated with first class today I no most of his classmates are envious of him.
So my dear don't allow it ware u down too much.
This sign shows that u are going to be great.
Don't quit because of this set back
No one is above failure
But what is important is when u fall u stand and encourage ur self and start fighting again.
So face it like a man stop blaming ur self or ur lecturers and don't join any bad gang.
Wish you happy recovery soon

It is applicable in UNIBEN 100level Medicine and Nursing department. In my department then (Med lab sci) you can accumulate carry over, but these courses must be cleared before first professional exam.

It's very important that jambites get enough information about the course they apply in their preferred university.
Re: I Have Been Withdrawn From Medical School. I Can't Tell My Parents by CORRECTMAN78(m): 11:04pm On Jun 03, 2020
Bros, that's not the end of the road for u. It's just a challenge. Meanwhile, if u still want to become a medical doctor, u got two options simultaneously... Accept any biological science course offered to u, get a good gp and change back to med surg. Secondly, while still talking the biological science course, write another jamb. Either of the two must work out. Don't give up bro

Amotolongbo:
@dear OP, Sagna112

I’m writing to you as someone who had passed through this kind of experience before. Mine was worse than yours. I will share the experience with you

Inform your parents on what is happening, they can’t beat or rebuke you

I was admitted to study pharmacy in 2006 at the great citadel, Obafemi Awolowo University. After my first session, I had 4 carryovers. Not as if I wasn’t serious or very dull, things just went in the way I didn’t understand.
I summoned courage and repeated the first year, taking only the 4 courses. I passed all and proceeded to 200level.
I repeated 200level and had to take all the courses again in my fourth year at the university. After the fourth year, I passed the courses though with resit in two courses. I promoted to 300level for the fifth year.
I repeated 300level and had to take all the courses in 300level in my 6th year at the university.

Finally, the worse came after my 6th year in OAU pharmacy school, it was a withdraw from the faculty of pharmacy to other faculty.
I wept and felt so bad as if that was the end of my life. Every thought in me had elements of suicide in it. But my parents were so aware, I called my mum who was at work immediately my course mate notified me of my fate. Dad had known earlier that day before me through one of our lecturers.

My parents stood by me and made sure I was happy and supported me financially, physically and spiritually until I was able to change my department to Geography in the faculty of Social Sciences.

I’m a Geography department graduate now and on a verge of being a registered Surveyor and I feel more happy and fulfilled than being a pharmacist

Being withdrawn from the medical school is not the end of life. There are billions of opportunities in other fields.

Please notify your parents now. They will know later, but they will feel more disappointed then than now.

This kind of story many for OAU campus.
Thank God we don't look like what's we went through

Please brother, yea it's a difficult situation but you don't have to give up.
Many people have already given several advice, I want you to first ask yourself if you really wanted to study medicine or you are being pushed by your parents to do so.
If indeed you are passionate about being a doctor, I will advice you not to give up.
Look for a comfortable time to inform your parents and do so. Register for UME and believe God for the best. Remember a setback is a setup for a comeback. In years to come, you will testify.
Sorry to say this you are even locky it's 100L. Many medical students have been withdrawn after spending 4years+, at least, I know of my school.
One of my course mates and friend back then in medical school was withdrawn after the 'almighty' 2nd MBBS, I later lost contact with the guy but never knew the guy later rewrote UME, got admission to study medicine in the same school and today, he is a doctor.

However, if you are not passionate about being a doctor, still inform you parents but tell them you do not have passion for medicine and then try to go to the field where you heart is.
There are many stories of people who were withdrawn from medical school who later chose another department and came out with a first class. For you to have gotten admission to study medicine (ie if you wrote the UME and post UME yourself) shows you are already above average.
Please do not study medicine for the' money or the prestige', or else you might be frustrated on the long run.
Also, use this opportunity to make Jesus Christ your friend, He can direct and lead you in the right path.
Peace be unto you.

My roommate at UNN was a medical school drop out. They told them to go to biological classes. She chose her passion, and went to do theatre arts. Babe graduated with a first class, travelled to the US, did her masters, bagged all the awards, now a fellow at Stanford university , an IVY league school in the US. Now check that out!

Do not let people deceive you with these fake results Bro
You are intelligent, brilliant and great
You have a future ahead of you
You can switch to another university
Most importantly tell your parents , not withdrawn though tell them there is an error which has not been resolved
Take care

Apply to retake 100 level. Put up a strong defence with your school head or dept HOD...otherwise tell your parents immediately. They will live.

I am the only child of my parents, they have spent so much on me just to make sure I become a doctor, dad had to sell one of his plots of land to pay for my registration fees, purchase a brand new laptop, a phone and clothes for me and all my needs, Mum who has no job since she was sacked by the state government will always try to send the little that will pass through her, when I think of the way she announced to her friends when I gained admission to study Medicine it brings tears from my eyes.

It will be an injustice on me to be blamed or for me to blame myself, I know the effort I have also made, I have always taken my studies serious, I never missed any lecture, I neither miss assignments nor tests, I sit at the front of the class, I don't keep bad gangs, I have never attended a party, sometimes I do RTDB (Read Till Day Break), what is then my offense? why me?

At the end of my 100 level Second semester my CGP was reading 4.2 without a single carryover, I was very happy because I thought I had scaled through the danger zone.

The unexpected occurred when I logged into the school portal at the end of my Second Semester Examination to check my result, I cleared all the courses with A's and B's but a course was reading Carryover, I nearly fainted when I saw the result, it was a biology course I offered in second semester to me the course was the simplest of all. I did not inform my parents because I din not want to dishearten them.

The school resumed, so I went to my HOD and complained, she took me to the Exam office who searched thoroughly for my script and from what I saw it was obvious I failed, I scored 32% and was asked to change department, my HOD advised that I go to Biological Sciences, my eyes were filled with tears.

How do I tell my parents this, it only mean I have brought shame to them. I have remained in school since then crying from one angle to another I don't know whether to go home to my parents to inform them of the truth or keep telling them lies.

I need your sincere advice.

I'm a medical doctor, and I wished I entered computer science because i found out I preferred programming and creating software, it's also more lucrative,
I'd advice you to go into tech, cos that's the future

This was what I feared while I was in 100lv
It was required to pass all courses to proceed to 200lv, and I hated Physics (but I was able to scale)
But before then, I prepared for the worst, I was reading for another Jamb. I had it in mind that even if I fail, I would retake Jamb without informing and start over from 100lv with more effort coz Medicine was/is all I had/have in mind (nothing)
You can take this as an advice

It's really weird. They don't throw medical students out for failing exams in first year. Highest, you repeat till you pass those courses.

In medical school things like this happen and it is best for u to make informed decisions. My advice for u
Tell ur parents urself- don't go thru a middleman
Think of d next plan
1. Switching to anoda Dept
2. Rewriting Jamb to get admission to study medicine- u are never too old to achieve ur dreams. If u really want to study Med.
N.B- I'm a medical student

That's one thing with Federal Unis, you must seat up and give your best if you don't want carryovers or withdrawal.. unlike those Glorified Secondary Schools where they pay millions to acquire first class certificate. Do they even withdraw or put students on probation? I doubt.

During my time, there were so many droupouts (withdrawn students due to low GPA) living like students on campus and deceiving their parents and family members that they were still in school. Las las their parents found out when they didn't see certificate.

@OP My advise for you is to either switch to a course you can cope with or sit for UTME exams again and choose Medicine in a different uni. At the end, it's grace and your skills that will speak for you.

Is failing a course a criteria for withdrawal from medicine? Can't you write the carryover course?
Was it HOD Medicine you approached or HOD biology?
If it is Biology, you should know that some of them were denied such opportunities you have now. So it is better you talk to the Head or Dean of Medicine, he will understand better.

I see you being a great doctor, don't give up!

Dear poster, it is never a new thing to get rest, repeat or withdrawn in medical school. I must pour out, it is not easy knowing that you put in your best.

My advice
1. Tell your parents of the ongoing.
2.Take up the biological science
3. While doing 2. seat for UTME
4. Explore 2 well and come out with 1/1
5. MBBS is not do or die. You can still fly without it.

Note: Pray. Very important.

Time will heal you. You're making it in JESUS' Name!
