Very precarious situation for Obaseki now. PDP will likely not give him the ticket. The viable way out for him is to fly on one of the other numerous parties we have. Considering the way some people are portraying him to be brave, rugged and well rooted in Edo, he can fight his way to victory on any platform. Except if the hype is another empty chest beating, I don't see why he is stressing himself to join PDP

Obaseki himself in a tighter corner. Up against a former ally who knows too much about him. And also a political roamer at such a critical time. Either he losses at the poll or in court. His chances are really slim as far as I can see. Maybe I haven't seen beyond my nose though.

I'll advice him to join a small party like LP or SDP and test his popularity like that former Ondo governor did it's just this issue of his certificates....no serious party will accept him with that.... PDP as already given him their best option that is to support the party to defeat PDP then go forward from there but baba wan do second term at all cost...so the ball is really in his court

I feel if Obaseki is screened carefully and his certificate saga can be properly managed and all present aspirant compensated with good post. PDP should field him as their governorship candidate because a sitting governor is the only match for any APC candidate. Trust APC all the Military apparatus will be at their disposal on election day. It takes a strong man with power as a Governor that might stand a chance of overcoming that pressure. Ask WIke
Honestly you are making sense

Those saying Edo people are with him are just deceiving themselves ,
1. even the Oba is not with him.
2. Shaibu is seeking his own political salvation hence his silence all these time.
3. His certificate saga coupled with the fact that if he tenders his O’level only he would be seen as a fraud (though the Mumu should have done that in APC primaries instead)
4. If he decamps then APC has to impeach him (September too far)
5. Political calculations if he doesn’t pick Shaibu as his running mate then he has lost edo north coupled with the fact Ize iyamu has more “leg” than Obaseki in Edo south how does he get the votes?

The man isn’t a shrewd political actor at all

Obasseki is in trouble and PDP is risking court petition against Obaseki should he eventually won the election as a Governor because the APC already has some weaknesses on Obaseki and that may holds PDP to ransom

Na wa o, people saying he should go to PDP don't know anything much of Nigeria politics and just online rabble rousers. They don't know anything I repeat. PDP Congress is this weekend. Tell me how he will join the party and claim their ticket. Instead of him supporting the candidate PDP present in everything, but the fear of what he will gain after spending probably billions for uncertainty will not make him make attempt to do that knowing how our politicians behave, give and take. Instead of structuring consultation of state party leaders and local government own , that is even in disarray ,he is busy going up and down to wike and the rest that won't even contest or vote. Ortom did his own far earlier, and rode on people's sympathies because of Fulani herds men killings and wickedness against his people, which made him to easily get the ticket.
Now if they forced him on PDP, trust me , majority of lower and middle weight aggrieved PDP politicians will move to APC and work against him. That's how Nigerian politicians behave just like what happened in Kwara.
I said it somewhere 2 months ago that let him get APC ticket first, then I will know how powerful he is, but he was running his mouth and making news daily attacking oshiomole and APC leaders. Politically he is in a tight corner and likely journey to political extinction. He won't want to spend billions hurriedly for uncertainty to support PDP candidate.
Lagos is not Edo crew, let's see what you think he should do...you don't know jack.......in wicked political set ups we have in Nigeria..It will keep on like that until citizens get sense. Everything happening is for their personal interest, nothing more.

You nailed it, kudos.

You’re a very smart observer and analyst. When I read some ignorant commenters here I just laugh. Politics is strategising not by thinking with your emotions like most people reason here. Neither Obaseki nor Oshiomhole is a saint.

Obaseki can either step down or contest on the ballot of a less recognized political party, It's time to test whether Obeseki is popular enough that Edo people will give him their votes irrespective of the platform he contests on. what will it be Mr Obaseki?

Tinubu did it in 2003. Tinubu fought Afenifere and left the party AD. Tinubu formed his own party AC and contested against Afenifere's candidate in AD and PDP and Obasanjo. At the end of the day, Tinubu humiliated them all. Today, Tinubu is the unofficial governor-general of Nigeria. This is why Edo is not Lagos.

Tell ugly Obaseki to do the same and let's see his political sagacity.

Lol. His sense of entitlement and pride stinks to high heavens. Rather than speak to leaders of the pdp in Edo and the aspirants he would rather travel to visit governors outside the state to control the pdp members in Edo. I wonder who is fighting godfatherism.

The way he is acting it is as though obaseki does not have a second address outside govt house
He is just running from pillar to post n his BP must ve increased in d past few days. PDP should welcome him to the party because politics they same is a game of number but they should not make d mistake to give him d ticket because he is not a party man n he will betray d party(including those who will make him clinch d ticket) as he has done to d APC. A man dt couldn't win his ward, local govt, senatorial district even as a sitting Governor n with Federal might in d last presidential election because he is not a party man n he has repeatedly insult his party, Oshiobaba n even called his party members thieves as if he is a saint. . Oshiobaba is not a saint though but Oshio is smarter than him n he knows when to strike unlike him dt goes abt striking at d wrong time n against d wrong post.

Elections are rigged in Nigeria. It is not about how popular u are. He can't rig well with an unknown party.

I av seen Nigeria election, it is not credible. They import thugs, they bribe voters, they blackmail officials, they snatch ballot boxes, they rewrite votes, they allocate votes, they manipulate the processes, etc. Elections re not free and fair in Nigeria. He will want to be with a party that has the structure to match the rigging capacity of apc.

Edo is not Lagos. We'll not let a single man dictate the fate of an entire state.

Edo people are saying No to Godfatherism

He scale through because he used affidavit that all his credentials has been lost. PDP getting tips that he never graduated from UI took APC and Obaseki to court. After APC won, PDP never pursue the case to Supreme Court. With help of Wike, Bayelsa PDP was able to get the green light that the certificate issue can upturned the APC victory before the Elected Candidates were sworn in reason for the rush in final judgment.

The legal proceedings by PDP was actually what opened APC eyes to Obaseki certificate fraud but after he was sworn in, everything die a natural death. You see in politics, if you are to fight a dirty fight make sure your cloth is pure white.

Check Obaseki affidavit that he used in 2016 and 2020 petition based on PDP Court proceedings. It will interest you to note that the affidavit was also a fraud as the court that the affidavit emanated from denied ever issuing the certificate as there was no record of such in their records.
