Some aggrieved youths, who are supporters of the CPC ‘s gubernatorial aspirant, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Abacha, were yesterday dispersed by policemen after they began converging to protest against the prolonged silence on the final results of the primaries.
The youths who were gathering at one of the offices of the party on Tiga Road were chased away by the police who were also there for some days and who alleged that the protesters were not given the permission to conduct the protest.

One of the protesters, Mustapha Daru, who spoke to Daily Trust, said they were there to forward their complaint to the party for the delay in pronouncing the winner despite the fact that Muhammad Abacha was the candidate with the highest number of votes in the primaries held.

When contacted, the state party chairman, Alhaji Muhammd Dan Azumi Gwarzo, said they had been receiving complaints from various quarters that the delay in announcing the flag bearer of the party was causing serious concern within party.

He said members of the party in the state and all stakeholders were worried over the silence, and the Board of Trustees had not communicated to them, thereby giving room for speculations. He urged the leadership of the party to ensure that justice prevails on the issue.

Police Public Relations Officer, Magaji Musa Majiya, said the protesters did not obtain any permit and therefore the police decided to intervene, saying there was no report of injury or damage.
