Wondering how to make out for the first time because you want it to be amazing? It’s the first make-out session of your life, here’s what you need to know!

Oh god, learning how to make out for the first time can be a stressful mess! I remember the first time I made out with someone. I was sixteen, sitting on the couch with my then-boyfriend. We would share innocent kisses when he then asked me, “do you want to French kiss?”

I was obviously mortified. French kiss? What do I do? How do I position my head? I was a sweaty, nervous mess. Needless to say, the first time wasn’t amazing. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. I was trying to figure out how this all worked, where does my tongue go, how much pressure I should use.

It took me some time to get the hang of things, that’s for sure. And though this story is embarrassing, I wanted to share it with you because you need to know your first time making out with someone may not look like something out of a movie.

Instead, it could be a little awkward at first, but that’s okay. It takes time to learn anything new for the first time, so don’t be hard on yourself. Instead, when it comes to learning how to make out for the first time, enjoy the moment and try to go with the flow.

How to make out with someone for the first time – The beginners walkthrough

Okay, I don’t want to stress you out or make you panic, so let’s walk you through this straight away.

#1 Are you ready? Do you want to make out with this person? Or are you doing this because you think you have to? Because you don’t need to make out with anyone unless you want to, so don’t go into this feeling any pressure. If you want to do it, then do it. If not, don’t do it.

#2 Use your manners. It can be a little hard to control yourself when you really want to kiss someone. But nothing is more frightening than having someone’s mouth charging to yours without any heads up. When it comes to kissing, use your manners. You can lean in slightly and see if they accept and lean in towards you. But if your partner is dodging any physical contact, don’t do it.

#3 There had to be physical contact before making out. You cannot just grab someone and start making out with them. Okay, you can, but depending on the circumstances, it can be frowned upon.

If you two have kissed before, then you can slowly transition into making out. But there should be physical contact before the make-out session.

#4 Go with the moment. If you’re wondering how to make out for the first time ever, you should remember that there will be a moment when you two will share this emotional connection that will lead to the kiss. Feel that moment, feel the energy. Are you two being pulled closer together? Is the sexual tension building?
