The deputy Clerk of the House did swear them in, as already reported in the mainstream media. The deputy Clerk is one of the few officers mandated by the Constitution to swear in members of an Assembly, either at inauguration or at any plenary.

The deputy Clerk swore them in, before the former "Speaker" was removed and a new Speaker was elected. Also, please see my post immediately preceding this one for reference.

Obaseki didnt refuse, they absconded because they could not get the speakership and no longer had the 2/3rd required.. pls get your facts right, Obaseki has no right to refuse inauguration, If he did, did he stop this their sham one without a Clark?

1)Obaseki inaugurated the house at 10pm a night before the earlier announced date of inauguration inviting only 10 members out of the 24 members and elected a speaker with the 10 members same night

2) The 14 members requested for a proper inauguration the next day as earlier fixed so that the 24 members can jointly elect principal officers as 9 members can't elect officers for 24 members

3) Due to the stalemate he refused them being sworn in at same time. No OATH of office has being taken till date and therefore no seat can be declared vacant which hasn't being occupied

4)Taking their OATH now is strategic because their allegiance and house rules has just been activated and they are more than 2/3 majority
Amy action embarked on by them is deemed legal and enforceable


Finally Obaseki has screwed himself big time. Leaving for a new party without majority of the house members was a big error on his part, his strategists are not as politically sophisticated as they ought to be
