Potential Southern Presidential Candidates And Their Strong Suits by Shizzyguy: 8:09am On Aug 17, 2020 |
So I created this thread to sample peoples opinions on potential Southern Presidential Candidates for 2023 and what we think their area of strength is or why we think they would make a good president. Let's limit it to the South West and South East since they seem to be main contenders. You can use keywords or just give a simple and brief explanation. Thanks as we keep it civil. As an example Peter Obi, South East. Frugality, Simplicity, Economic Diversification, etc Akinwunmi Adesina, South West Yemi Osinbajo, South West Chukwuma Soludo, South East Kingsley Moghalu, South East Kayode Fayemi, South West 1 Like 3 Shares |

TheRareGem1:Osinbanjo and Zulum is what is best for this nation at this time, both them already understand the problem this country is facing and they can quickly amend where it is faulty, Osinbanjo out-performed his boss when he acted as president, the outshining earned him lot of enemies, but he still good to go 1 Like |

Shizzyguy: Rotimi Amaechi, South South. The rest should Bleep off. 2023 is between Rotimi Amaechi/El-Rufai battles Tinubu/Ganduje in APC and Atiku Abubakar or Tambuwal/Wike-if Amaechi nor win APC ticket. |

I will take Osinbajo. He is diligent, hardworking, intelligent, brilliant, gifted, respectable, easygoing and an outstanding knowledge of economics and law. 2 Likes |

Tinubu, El-Rufai Or Osibanjo, zulum Just give us Elrufai or zulum as vp... I like Osibanjo but believe me... The reason why some people prefer Osibanjo over tinubu is because of religion. Not that Osibanjo is better and more capacitated then tinubu... But they see yoruba Muslims as almost equal to northerners. So they will always prefer Osibanjo ahead of tinubu... Bigotry is evil! 2 Likes |

I'm Igbo, and I think I will prefer Osinbanjo to Tinubu. At least for once let's produce a marketable president. If Tinubu wins, be rest assured that he will be labelled as "a sleeping monkey". |

Re: Potential Southern Presidential Candidates And Their Strong Suits by Shizzyguy: 9:43am On Aug 17, 2020 |
kcnwaigbo: Well I restricted it to the SW and SE mainly because those are the zones that have been most insistent on the 2023 presidency but feel free to add anyone from the SS. |

TheRareGem1: If you have actually met Peter Obi before, you will never argue about him being simple and frugal. They are not bad qualities at all. Those qualities are 2 of the many that have made him very popular and even when you hear him speak, he places a lot of emphasis on cutting the cost of governance. I was once at the airport and 3 guys were arguing whether he was the one or not because they saw Peter Obi traveling unaccompanied as a governor. On another occasion at the airport, they practically shutdown our terminal and delayed our flight because Godswill Akpabio was traveling. 2 Likes |

Arrewa: They are both Yoruba, but you are not, so you won't understand. We Yoruba's value good names more than Gold. Tinubus name is soiled across Nigeria compared to Osinbajo, Osinbajo isn't abGod father either and hes more learned more than Tinubu. Yoruba values education, at least you know that. Tinubu and an average Yoruba Muslim isn't like the FANATICS UPNORTH, He's (Tinubu) is even married to a Christian. doesn't that sound absurd to an average Northerner? For your information, every Yoruba have both Muslim and Christian as close family members, so your religious claims doesn't stand here. I consider you even the religious bigot here. |

yellowman2225: I like your point but the truth is that Religion and tribe both play significant roles in Nigeria's politics. There was a time in Osun state when both the governor and deputy were Christians (Oyinlola and Erelu Obada). While the SW are not fanatical and are more tolerant when it comes to religion, I feel a lot of people will favour a Christian candidate. Secondly, I think an ideal candidate should have a good spread of acceptability across the regions. 1 Like |

Shizzyguy: And at this juncture I would like to inquire who is currently the most accepted across regions in Nigeria if it is not VP Osinbajo. when you see him at the market in Aba, the crowd surges, they sit and stand and chase his convoy along the old city walls of Kano just as they would in Sagamu or Ife |

I'll take Osibanjo/Zulum because they've both performed well when given the chance, however, we all know how the Buhari story ended. Personally, I believe there's a curse on that presidency seat in Also Rock. All the people who have sat in it have ended up useless. |
