This looks better than many Federal medical centres. This country is not working, for better and faster growth, this fake marriage should be dissolved.

It looks better because they are likely managed by the missioneries. Everything Nigerian government took over from the churches have been mismanaged from Schools to hospital to whatever. The Catholic school I attended used to be headed by catholic priest, the last time I saw the school I wept for what it has become. Nigerian politicians are like viruses.

Iyienu Mission Hospital and Health Care Foundation
Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital since inception has been at the fore-front of missions, preaching and healings through tending the sick, the suffering and the dying. It will be recalled that the Rev. Henry Dobinson and Rev. F.N. Eden under the Church Missionary Society's (C.M.S) medical mission initiated what is today called "Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital" when they saw the need to reach the people with medical services on their arrival at Ozalla, Onitsha in 1890.

The Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital of today started as a dispensary in a somewhat dilapidated mud building in the old C.M.S. compound which was originally built by the first Bishop of the Niger Territory - the Rt. Rev Samuel Ajai Crowther - who also lived there.

Other missionaries that came later include:

* Miss Taylor (a nurse) - 1893
* Miss Maxwell (a nurse)
* Dr. Clayton
* Miss Mary Elms
* Miss Edith Warner
* Dr. & Mrs. A.E. Bruit – arrived in 1907
* Dr. R.Y. Stones (a surgeon)
* Miss K. Beswick (a nurse)
* Miss Cooper (a nurse) - arrived 1914
* Miss Janet M. Lake (a matron)
* Miss Ida Hill - arrived 1923
* Miss Dorothy Jewitt arrived in 1924
* Dr. Sybil Bartley (a woman) - joined 1926
* Dr. Jessy Horn (a woman) - arrived 1929
The above-listed names were some of the missionaries from England who worked relentlessly in bringing Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital to its present location in 1907.

In 1913, the foundation stone of the new Dispensary block, in memory of the Late Ven. Henry Dobinson (the leader of the team), was laid by the Governor-General designate to Nigeria, Sir Frederick Lord Lugard. The late Dobinson died suddenly of dysentery while on a pastoral visit to Asaba.

Worthy of note is that Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital is divinely instituted upon the Rock (Jesus Christ), hence the Lord has been so gracious to us in spite of the numerous challenges that have been encountered. As at the period under review, patients that were accessing healthcare services at Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital came all the way from Ogidi, Nkpor, Oze, Umuoji, Obosi, Awka, Nnewi, Nsukka, Okigwe, Egbu, Ubulukwu, Agbor, Ekpoma, Oleh, Ugheli, Ida, among others.

The hospital also embarked on the training of local staff and in 1930-1931, Iyi-Enu School of Nursing and Midwifery started in earnest after obtaining approval from the government. These schools are still running till date.

This is where I served. They treated me well. Right from the camp to the hospital, a bus came and picked us. We were (three corps members) given a fully furnished three bedroom flat in the hospital quarters. One meal ticket everyday. On my exit, the gifts were like I just wed(ded). Rev. Johnny (of blessed memory), the then administrator was a born administrator.....I miss the place honestly...

More from Borromeo hospital Onitsha

We thank God for the light that Christian missionaries brought to the education and health sectors of Nigeria. Only a fool and confused and embittered and schizophrenic and demon-possessed individual will ever deny the impact of the church. Imagine where Nigeria without the contributions of the Church? We would have remained in our caves till today.

Nothing one will not hear on nairaland! My grand mother was born there in 1925 and died there in 2015. Her mother's house shares a wall with Iyi-enu hospital. Her father Igwe Walter Amobi 1 gave Iyi-enu hospital land, manual labour and helped raise money to set up some buildings. https://www.academia.edu/34028000/Histroy_of_iyienu you can click the link to read more.

Do you know the distance from Nkwelle Ezunaka to Ogidi? Were you talking about Nkwelle Ogidi where the Amobi family originally came from? Please share a link to this your archives. I am interested.

How To Prepare Olive Oil Hair Mask

Do you have dry and flaky hair? Well, if that is the case, then look no further! There is one hair mask that will do just that. It is olive oil we are talking about!

Olive oil is extracted from the olive fruit. From ruling our kitchens to taking over the cosmetic world, olive oil has become a rage all over the world in recent times.

The koko is that Iyienu Hospital is in Anambra state; whether Obosi, Ogidi , Onitsha or Nkwell Ezunaka is immaterial. The most important thing is that the worlds class standard of the hospital should not be compromised embarassed

PAGAN9JA:

The same can be said for islam. In that sense if you are opting for a theocracy then you can go for this option.

This doesnt make christianity a spiritual organization but rather a socio-political organization under the garb of spirituality as all abrahamic faiths are.

Socio-political organization is how atheists describe it.
We pray and meditate, these are spiritual exercises.
A wholly Islamic country or wholly Christian nation can practice theocracy. Nothing wrong with that, after all, democracy is not working in some countries.
