It's easy to see how Lyon have been a pain in the neck for Madrid - and maybe any other side. They were so darned thick in the middle, they didn't allow Madrid to play their usual free flowing game. They kinda stifled the game. They're also highly physical - typical French side with packed middle.

Nonetheless Madrid should have won this. JM made a good sub (Benz for Adebayor) and a bad one (Marcelo for Oezil). He should have sent CR back to the left and brought on Esteban Granero on the right. Sissoko and Bastos had already made the right their home, and with Cris covering at the back, there wasn't enough space for Marcelo to do his aimless runs (make una no vex, I no like the guy ). Only a CR could draw them out on that flank.

Nonetheless Madrid takes this at the Bernabeu in 3 weeks. Lyon no go fit.

Madrid very close to getting one over Lyon. Before this game, Lyon had always beaten Madrid at the Stade de Gerland. Madrid definitely with the advantage heading into the second leg.

Considering mourinho's record in the bernerbeu,the guy has been ultra solid at home.Keeping a record of 100% at home in all competition i cant help but wait till lyon show up for be most painful defeat of their life.
