Rubbish!!! When it was 100 to 170 dollar per barrel did we had a sustainable budget??

Crude was never at 170 dollars per barrel

Under GEJ, crude was fluctuating between 91 and 130 dollars per barrel. Our breakeven oil price, or the price we need oil to be at to have a balanced budget then was 120 dollars per barrel (it has been 140 since 2017, and it is that high due to high population, high cost of producing crude in Nigeria and so on)

So back then, we had to take loans. And there was corruption making matters worse.

In my opinion, and I should say I don't like writing this, we must deregulate now because we are not earning enough for our 200 million population. And it is the only way we can stop taking more loans

Mr. President, no matter how much these sycophants around you may praise you for this action, have it at the back of your mind that it is just a step in the wrong direction but also a terrible one.

We’ve heard you but Nigeria doesn’t have the money to pay subsidy again. If you so badly want the subsidy to stay kindly provide the funds for it or you thought subsidy is just by mouth and fixing price anyhow.

Imagine. An illiterate is telling the government to maintain subsidy and educated Nigerians on this thread are urging him on.

When I say Buhari regime is a SCAM, I am just calling it exactly the way it is. It's not an insult, it's not a matter of politics or the type that some myopic people will tag you a hater or wailer and it is definitely not an exaggeration. I sell goods. If you order for a Ferrari and I deliver a Toyota, and then I tell you car is car, you should take it like that. Even if that Toyota is perfect, is that not a scam? If you pay for 50 units intelligent dispenser or solar LED lights and I deliver 35, and i tell you to forget about the balance 15, is that not a SCAM? Votes are equivalent to currency, the currency of political power and change. People paid you their votes to deliver certain campaign promises and you fail woefully to deliver it = SCAM

The problem is, we can't reverse the fuel price increase.

In fact, government would do well to remove fuel and power subsides completely

Yes, we would pay 60 naira per kWh for power and 200 naira for fuel. Yes, we would suffer

But our oil companies and power companies would finally have the cash and investment to pay for much needed improvements

Fourteen years ago, people were calling on the government to reduce GSM prices. Government said no. GSM companies continued to exploit us, and they used the money to build the strong it network and create jobs, and yes, the price of SIM went down from 10000 to less than 1000 today

If we deregulate now, we save over 2 trillion naira if not more annually. Money that can be used for education and other things, and would enable us get some jobs.

We should have deregulated in 2012. Instead Nigerians said no. Now , having refused to face the issue for 8 years, Covid has forced us to face the facts.

If we want a better economy, more jobs, more investment, and so on, we must deregulate.

Or we keep taking loans. Oil is at 40 dollars per barrel. We need it at 139 dollars per barrel before we have a sustainable budget.
your mumu no be here, except You are deceiving your self, nobody takes this your line of argument serious again,it is worn out, nigerians sees as it is lies
Besides you are comparing apples and oranges
This government lacks capacity and will to move this country forward. This government is just causing hardship for Nigerians deliberately, while a sensible government work deliberately to bring it's people out of hardship
In other climes serious governments are giving palliatives and policies to alleviate effect of covid, your government is increasing exchange rate, fuel prices, electricity tariff, stamp duties at the same time, which will result in inflation in an economy that is already down, only a dumb government will act this way
Besides this is the most corrupt government in the history of Nigeria

rigging is not a new thing in Nigerian politics, in short, it is a NORM and that's how corrupted the Nigeria political landscape is. Let's even ignore the old political era and start referencing from the new democracy political era, ever since the days of OBJ govt, the pioneer democracy govt in the new era, rigging has been a norm. So things like that doesn't surprise me. But in the midst of the rigging, there are still genuine votes from genuine voters. That's the one I am referring to. In a free and fair election with integrity, I don't think up to 1,000 people can queue to vote for APC as per presidential elections by 2023 with all the evil they are doing. Even their most hard-line die-hard staunchest supporters are starting to get disillusioned and have run out of excuses to defend them with.

This is not the time to increase fuel price in our darling nation at all.

Not with all that is going on around the world, pandemic et al,
When people are finding it difficult to survive.

This is the same reason we voted out the party of thieves and criminals.

This is not the change we voted for.

The same way we sane, honest and hardworking Nigerians praised this government when they reduced fuel price sometimes ago, we should make sure we put our voice together to castigate and talk against this.

That is the voice the government will listen to,
Not the voice of children of hate, frustration and perdition that have never seen any good thing in our country,
That all they do is to wail continously in life.
They even wailed when the price was reduced.
They have been wailing since PMB won the election, even before swearing in!
They are not wailing for the common man like sane and honest people are doing, but they are wailing in pain that the corrupt money being shared to them by the losers they support is not forthcoming anymore.
They have been so used to corruption, they see it as a way of life.
That is what we stand against.

Sane, honest and hardworking Nigerians,
Let us come together to Say no to this fuel increase,
definitely not at this time and ignore enemies of the country that want the evil politicians they voted for to remain in power together.

This is not the change we voted for.
Something must be done about this NOW!
God bless Nigeria.

If you are a genuine Nigerian against this increase like us,
Signify and let us take it from here,
We have the Voice and the power.
And if you are an enemy of the nation,
aka, children of hate and perdition, aka swines, and dare quote this post to wail,
May the suffering of the masses go to your heads and the heads of your looters you support a 100 folds.
May you be strike down with the hatred for our country that has consumed you.
Quote, let us know who will be struck rn!

This is very welcome.
FG should regulate the price especially in this pandemic.

However, behold yam eaters! Do not demonize and let us feel bad for voting PMB.
I, in person haven't regretted and will never regret voting PMB twice AGAINST GEJ and Atiku.

GEJ was fortunate to govern when oil prices was at its peak in the history of Nigeria (over a hundred dollar per barrel) with nothing to show for it aside looting and borrowing TO PAY WORKERS'SALARIES.

PMB is unfortunate to be governing when oil prices (was once sold) for $11 a barrel and less than $45 as of now with reduction of our oil demands in World market. This doesn't stop the gigantic ongoing projects IN THE HISTORY OF NIGERIA.

PMB is not the best but 100% better than Atiku and GEJ together. If you like quote me and be cursing yourselves, I don't care.

VOTING PMB AGAINST ATIKU AND GEJ is the best thing a patriot has done.

Don't face the issue at hand, be calling GEJ and Atiku up and down. Face the govt that has failed to fulfil a single promise successfully.

Self consolation and self denial. The good thing is all the negative consequences and actions of Buhari will hit you as well. Next will be data, by then all these epistles will be reduced.

Carry on cheesy Change is here, REAL CHANGE!

Many people don’t know that the subsidy can no longer be sustained.

We cry we need more funding in our Health and educational sector yet we preferred government to spending the money on subsidy.

When Government borrow for infrastructure we complain that Government is selling the future of the youths.

The country can no longer sustain subsidy. Instead let them channel the subsidy money to other sectors while we wait for Dangote refinery to start production

Where are all those that were protesting during Jonathan's era?

Have they all chickened out?

Can't imagine even Prof Wole Soyinka has gone into extinction. COWARD, much I supposed.

Where are all the hungry Nollywood Bandwagons?
They have caved in as well?

Useless set of people.....

We are all in it together. We the hustling Nigerians will always strive, no matter what.

And what have you done yourself? Wole Soyinka is 86years old!! And you are waiting for him to come and fight for you!!?? You are a shame for disrespecting an old man like that who has done more for Nigeria that you likely ever will.

Can you tell him what you typed up there to his face if you met him? If you tried it and he cursed you, it will stick with you and your generations for eternity cos God would back him up!

Nonesense!!!

Very sensible and true post. One of the few people who really understand how an economy works.

What Nigeria could do in 1990 with 87mln population is not the same it can do with 200mln population. Do you know the increase in cars between then and now? And all of them consuming subsidized petrol?? What will we do in 2035 when we hit 300mln and there are additional 15mln cars in Nigeria? We will be paying subsidy for those ones as well? And then where will the money to pay for schools, universities, hospitals and teachers and doctors to cater to the extra 100mln people, if we spend it all on subsidy. The Country will just fall into worse and worse problems.

Yet Nigerians cannot pay tax like everywhere else and continue to give birth like rats, yet we continue to cry and yearn for the period of 1970 when govt could afford to do everything for Nigerians when it was earning like 5 times what it does now (in REAL terms) and with a population one quarter of what it is now.
