not only that, the north east will wants states as well, he can not favour the SE over the country

but lets see cool if he would

He can't be partial. People would resist it. It is nothing against the igbos but this is just how Nigeria is. If GEJ should create Anioma state, he shouls also create Oya state, okun state and the other regions that want their states to be fair

I am glad that you know I am not blinded by ethnic bigotry.

Now, we have 6 geopolitical zones.

NW= 7 STATES
NE= 6 STATES
NC= 5 STATES (ABUJA IS NOT A STATE)
SW= 6 STATES
SS= 6 STATES
SE= 5 STATES

Now, why should GEJ give the SE a 6th state and not give the NC?? Why should GEJ give the SE a 6th state and not give the SW?? Do you see the problem?

If that is true, give me the estimate of Urhobo, Isoko and Ijaw.

http://aniochanorth.org/History-and-Culture.php

"The Anioma region has a total population of 1,114,055 at the last National headcount in 2006. These include Ukwuani, Enu-ani, Ika (Agbor), and Aboh.  The population figure quoted here does not include those of Anioma communities located outside Delta state."

http://www.nigerianstat.gov.ng/nbsapps/Connections/Pop2006.pdf

Aniocha North
104,711
Aniocha South
140,604
Ika North East
183,657
Ika South
162,594
Ndokwa East
103,171
Ndokwa West
149,325
Oshimili North
115, 316
Oshimili South
149,603

Total: 1,108,981

Now that was the 2006 estimate and in the same year, the estimate for the state's population was 4,098,391. So the Anioma region was 27%. When you add some Igbos in Warri, Sapele, and few other places, you could probably get over 30%, but not a substantial amount past 30%. Overall, something in the 27-33% range seems reasonable, going off the 2006 data.

thank you, at least you are the first igbo that see it from my point of view

now, we all know the igbo population is a lot more than the figures given to us but remember igbos are found all over thus reducing there population in the south-east and reducing there vote strenght as a group

as for kano state, i believe it is more populous than lagos because there are alot of migrates from chad, niger etc and other states

Re: State By State Figures Of Inec Voters Registration by ekubear1: 1:03am On Feb 24, 2011
@Obiagu1:

Let's make the following (imo, generous) assumptions:

SE, 98% Igbo, 7028560
Rivers State, 70% Igbo, 2419057
Delta, 30% Igbo, 1900055
Lagos, 20% Igbo, 6247845
SW minus Lagos, 2% Igbo, 8050511
Northern Nigeria, 5% Igbo, 33.11 million

Let's multiply and add up:
octave:22> 7028560*0.98+2419057*.7+1900055*.3+6247845*.2+8050511*.02+33.11*1e6*.05
ans =  1.2217e+07

We get 12.217 million Igbo votes including the North, 10.562 million excluding it. So you are getting 1.655 million additional votes in the North.

Let's do the same for Yoruba:
SW - Lagos, 95% Yoruba, 8050511
Lagos, 50% Yoruba, 6247845
Kwara, 85% Yoruba, 1115665
Kogi, 25% Yoruba, 1215405
Rest of North, 1%, 33.11*1e6 - 1115665 - 1215405

Multiply and add up:
octave:27> 8050511*.95+6247845*.5+1115665*.85+1215405*.25+.01*(33.11*1e6-1115665-1215405)
ans =  1.2332e+07

So 12.332 million Yoruba votes including Kwara and Kogi and the North, 10.772 million in the SW alone. So 115k more Yoruba votes than Igbo, even
assuming that the North is as populated as they claim.

But what if we slash this Northern population in half? Including Kwara and Kogi? Igbo votes:
octave:35> 7028560*0.98+2419057*.7+1900055*.3+6247845*.2+8050511*.02+33.11*1e6*.05*1/2
ans =  1.1390e+07

Yoruba votes:
octave:36> 8050511*.95+6247845*.5+1/2*(1115665*.85+1215405*.25+.01*(33.11*1e6-1115665-1215405))
ans =  1.1552e+07

Our advantage has increased slightly, from 115k to 162k votes.

This in a nutshell is why I'm not convinced that Igbo are the most numerous anymore. The assumptions here I think were somewht generous:

I assumed 20% of Lagos is Igbo, only 50% of Lagos is Yoruba. My suspicion is something more like 60%/15% might be more accurate.

I also gave you 70% of Rivers.

And assumed that 1 out of every 20 residents of the North are Igbo.

In the first calculation, I accepted the Northern %s on face value.
But despite this, it appears that Yoruba are more numerous.

Obiagu1:

Well, from that same 2006 census:

Ethiope West
203592
Sapele
171888
Okpe
130029
Ethiope East
200792
Ughelli North
321028
Ughelli South
213576
Udu
143361
Uvwie
191472

Total: 1,575,738

Which is 38% of the state's total population for the 2006 census. When you add all those Urhobos in Warri, the figure probably jumps 3-5% at least, probably much more (I wouldn't know, somebody from Warri would have to confirm). So I would put the Urhobos in the 40s as far as percentage of Delta state. I don't know about 50% exactly. Remember there are still Itsekiri, Ijaw, and Isoko in Delta state and I think together these groups would probably make up more than just 20% of Delta state. (Once again, I'm no authority on this though.)

And because of this,all states have equal strenght and count as one,irrespective of population, !!!

lagos has more population density than kano due to the size of the state

kano has more population spread over a larger area wink

Now you dropped Igbo population in Lagos to 20%. Good. If Yoruba population in Kwara is 85%, then Kwara is a Yoruba state and there won't be this clamour for Oya State (Yoruba speakers in Kwara and Kogi). Really clever from you  smiley

Well, which ever way you look at it, the difference between Igbo and Yoruba is statistically insignificant.
