WE'LL CONTINUE TO ENSURE COMPLETION OF ALL ABANDONED ROAD PROJECTS - ABIODUN

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured the people of the State that his Administration would continue to ensure the prompt completion of projects that were left uncompleted by the immediate past administration, adding that the present Administration sees road infrastructure as the pillar of government.

Prince Dapo Abiodun, who made this known while speaking to newsmen shortly after rounding off an inspection tour of work done on the Panseke- Adigbe Road, said that it was important for his Administration to ensure that people coming to work in the State do that without having to go through the pain of bad and hazardous roads. He added that his Administration would continue to prioritise the issue of roads across the State.
"We see road infrastructure as an essential component of development. We have prioritised the issue of roads across the length and breadth of the State, and this is one of the roads we are doing.

"This Panseke-Adigbe Road was awarded by the previous administration but was not funded. When i came here when the bridge at Opako collapsed, I promised that this road would be completed. What we are doing here today and across the State is a fufillment of our promise," he said.
Abiodun further explained that aside the Panseke-Adigbe Road project left uncompleted by the previous administration, the current Administration is currently working on Ijebu Ode-Epe Road; Oba Erinwole Road, Hospital Road in Sagamu; Elite and Lafenwa-Rounda roads. He added that his Administration is focusing on all the access roads that are State roads.

The Governor, who also disclosed that the major reason why his Administration is focusing on access roads that belong to the State was to use their completion to bring people in with ease, added that the total rebranding of the Abeokuta-Sagamu Road was to ensure that people coming into the State through the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway continue to enjoy a pleasurable ride down to the State Capital after the completion of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

"We have started the Sagamu-Abeokuta Road, and it will be pointless for the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to be completed and then investors enjoy a pleasurable ride all the way from Lagos, Ibadan or the East without any issue, then the journey between Interchange and Abeokuta becomes a nightmare. So we have started on that road. If not for the pandemic, we would have completed it," he said.

Abiodun, who also explained that his Administration has enlisted another set of roads which are to be completed across the State, stated that the Administration is poised to ensure that people are able to move within, in and out the State with ease.

Earlier, the General Project Manager, CCECC, Ogun State, Sewell Zhao said that the plan was to finish the section between the NNPC and Kuto bridges as soon as possible, adding that the company hopes to finish the stretch of the road, putting in mind the financial support the present Administration has given them so far.

In their separate responses, residents and users of the Panseke road, Collins Anozie and Mrs Aremo Oluwatoyin commended the Administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun for bringing to a halt the suffering they have experienced on the road in the last one year, urging the Governor to continue the good work work he has started across the State.

BEAR WITH US, AS WE COMPLETE SAGAMU-INTERCHANGE-ABEOKUTA ROAD – GOV. ABIODUN

The Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on motorists, and residents of towns along the Sagamu-Interchange-Abeokuta Expressway to exercise caution as they use the road as well as other numerous roads undergoing construction by his Administration.

The Governor, in his personal message, pleaded with the road users to understand that it was an inevitable choice for engineers on the construction sites to close one of the dualised lanes, so that they may continue works on the lane while vehicles use the other. This mode of operation, he stated, directly means that vehicles are not allowed to park on the open lane, as this would generally cause traffic gridlock and pose a risk of collision.
Also, the Governor advised motorists on the open lane not to overtake one another, as this is impracticable in a space being managed by vehicles in two opposite directions.

He further urged that as they drive, the motoring public should drive carefully and slowly when around construction vehicles and equipment, even as they continue to obey instructions on speeding and diversions.

“That engineers are working on the closed lane does not preclude the need to obey instructions on speeding, diversions, and careful driving around construction vehicles and equipment.”

Governor Abiodun restated the determination of his Administration to deliver the Sagamu-Interchange-Abeokuta Road in target time and the best condition. He pledged that his Administration will continue to prioritise road infrastructure, in the best interest of the people.

Ogun govt unveils multiple road projects

The Ogun State government, on Monday, completed the reconstruction of various roads across the state.
This, it said, was in fulfillment of the pledge by the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in July, 2019 to ensure the reconstruction of the roads in the communities hit by floods.

Among the roads completed were the Asafa-Ayegun-Ojofa and Molipa-Fusigboye and Hospital roads in Ijebu-Ode, together with Baruwa Street in Sagamu local government area of the state.

The 1.5km and 1.3km roads were built with the appropriate drainage, to avert a recurrence of tragic floods in the state.
The roads were immediately left open for use by road users who commended the government's efforts in the development of road infrastructure across the state.

Apart from the roads in Ijebu Ode, work is currently ongoing on Odo Afá road and bridge, Agosasa, in Ipokia local government area of the state; the Awùjalè-Oke Àjé-Stadium road in Ijebu-Ode and the 4.7km Oru-Awa-Ilaporu road in Ijebu North Local Government, which is 75 per cent completed, as well as Oba Erinwole road.

It will be recalled that there was jubilation among residents of Asero and Obantoko communities in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on last weekend as the Ogun State government completed work on the Fajol-American Junction-Gbonagun road.

The 7.2km road, an alternative route, is designed to reduce the traffic gridlock daily experienced by motorists, okada riders and other road users on the Abeokuta-Ibadan road.

Kuto Bridge: Scarification Begins on Service Lanes, Slip Road

- Median kerbs, asphalt to be laid on road connecting Kuto, NNPC bridges
The Ogun State Government, through its Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, has commenced the scarification of existing damaged asphalt on the service roads along Kuto Bridge which is being constructed in Abeokuta, the State Capital.

The exercise is being extended to the connecting road between the bridge and the NNPC flyover which is already in use.
This is towards the preparation for the laying of new median kerbs, subbase laterite course, stonebase course, spraying of MC1, and asphalt laying binder course.

This is targeted towards linking the two asphalted bridges, with the intention to ease the traffic logjam characteristic with the popular Kuto Junction, as occasioned by its proximity to Kuto Market and the daily inflow of vehicles from neighbouring towns.

Engineers are also conducting earthwork operations on the slip road beside Kuto Road, preparing it for subsequent works. The Government has disclosed that it is being guided by the continuum principle, which ultimately delivers projects of this type for better living conditions. The road and bridge, on completion, will strengthen commerce by easing access to border towns, while making improved security more deliverable.

OGUN BEGINS RECONSTRUCTION OF AGOSASA-ODO AFA IN IPOKIA LGA

The Agosasa-Odo Afa Road in Ipokia Local Government Area is set to be in its best condition, as the Ogun State Government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun recommences its reconstruction.

The first phase of the project is focused on the Afa River area and temporary measures to make the road motorable, pending its completion.
The reconstruction of the viable road, which links most wards and towns in the LGA, was started but abandoned by the immediate past administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

The State Government has stressed that it is keen on completing the project, according to their pledge to complete all abandoned projects for the sole interest of the people and their welfare.

The Government has been hailed by road users for remembering the LGA which has been left unattended to for a number of years, except for the botched relocation of a reputable tertiary institution.

ENGINEERS CONSTRUCT CULVERTS ON PANSEKE-ADIGBE ROAD, AMIDST INSTALLATION OF UTILITIES

The contractor in charge of the Panseke-Adigbe Road Project in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital have begun constructing culverts at strategic points on the road to forestall floods that have perrenially destroyed some parts. This is in order to channel groundwater and stormwater through the new and clear waterways.

Currently, engineers are constructing a 1.2x2m box culvert around RabEng Filling Station, towards stopping the torrential waterflow which yearly causes businesses in the area to either close down or temporarily use makeshift shelters.

The culvert construction is going on alongside the installation of drainage and relocation of power lines on both sides of the road.

The State Government has expressed appreciation over the cooperation and patience displayed by residents and business owners, whose activities have been temporarily and briefly disrupted, as engineers carry out their duties.

OGUN BEGINS WORK ON OJODU ABIODUN, AKUTE ROAD - WORKS COMMISSIONER

The Ogun State Government has assured residents of Ojodu Abiodun, Akute in Ifo Local Government area of the State that the State Government would immediately commence work on the 4.65 kilometre road at the end of the current raining season, with a promise to deliver a brand new road.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya who gave the assurance while speaking to newsmen shortly after inspecting palliative work on the road, said that the palliative work currently going on in the area was just a temporary measure to reduce the hardship of road users, adding that the road is part of the economic linkage the Prince Dapo Abidoun-led Administration in the State was looking to revitalise.
Aside the 4.65 kilometre Ojodu Abiodun/Akute road, Akinsanya also disclosed that the road coming from Sango to Akute, where the bridge can be seen would also be done, calling on the people of the State to be patient with the State Government in its resolve to make roads across the State motorable.

He emphasised that palliative works would be done on Ojodu Abiodun-Denro Ishashi-Ajuwon-Akute Alagbole-Yakoyo, and Alagbado-Oke Aro-Lambe-Matogun Roads and their environs.

"This road is a vital road. It is a road linking us with Lagos State. It is part of the economic linkage this Administration is trying to revitalise in this area. The new road is coming very soon. The design is ready. To make it motorable when it rains is the reason for the palliative work we are doing here today. There has been a lot of complaints on the road, but the Governor has directed us to make it motorable, even in the interim.
"There will be a brand new road linking this place to Lagos. It is a 4.65 kilometre road. At the same time, the road coming from Sango to Akute here where you see the bridge - that also will be done," he said.

A resident and pastor in charge of First Baptist Church, Akute, Reverend Ayo Ojeleye, while commending the State Government for the palliative work on the road, called on the Government to as a matter of urgency come to the aid of the people in the area.

"It is naturally expected that the good people of Ogun State will be patient with us, as our Administration fixes all roads in due time.
I stated this today when I inspected the progress of work done on the reconstruction of the 14.5km Ijebu Ode-Epe Expressway, one of the many road projects we have undertaken in the one year and a month of our time in office.

At the flag off in February, I had stated that the Expressway project would be completed early 2021, but by reason of the COVID-19 pandemic, it will now be commissioned by this time next year.

During today's inspection, I mentioned that we did not create this problem of bad roads. We met it here. However, we have so far completed over 20km of the record 80km of roads we have been working on for the past one year. The roads are there for all to see.

Currently, we are prioritising critical roads such as the Ota-Akute and Ishashi-Ojodu-Akute/Journalists Roads, whose projects are in their 2nd phases which would start soon.

Having first the interest of the good people of Ogun State at heart, I want to reassure everyone that one after the other, all our roads will be worked on, and we will not leave anyone abandoned. I share the pain of the people, so rest assured, the situation is under control."
Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, Executive Governor of Ogun State.

OGUN RENOVATES FIRE STATIONS TOWARDS EFFECTIVE SERVICE, BETTER WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun, is renovating all the State's Fire and Safety Service Stations.
This is in a bid to provide a better work environment for firefighters, while also ensuring effective service.

The fire stations, as could be seen across the State, had suffered neglect over the years, incapacitating the Service in the aspects of response time, equipment efficiency, and staff motivation.

A good number of the fire stations have now been completely renovated, even as the statewide exercise continues with a steady momentum.

We have started asphalt laying on Kuto Bridge and the surrounding road towards completing the project initiated by the immediate past administration.

The recommencement of this road project comes after exhaustive deliberations, re-evaluation, and rescoping of the project. My position on governance is that the people's common interest must be the priority, and government therefore is a continuum.

Our Government will ensure the Kuto Bridge project is completed, as we continue to re-evaluate other road projects abandoned or left uncompleted by the last administration, in order that we may wholly deliver as we promised.

This rehabilitation project handled by the Ogun State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, will end the hardship yearly brought upon residents by the rains, as all the water runoff would be attended to.

I can only advise residents to cooperate with the construction workers on site, and when the project is completed, all waterways should be kept clean always to avoid a return to the dreadful past.

The ongoing reconstruction project covering Imowo Eleran, Ibadan and Mobalufon/Ejirin roads in Ijebu-Ode is already at the asphalt paving stage.

Engineers have paved asphalt beyond Imowo Eleran, while work continues towards the speedy completion of the project, which will aid local and interstate travel.

In Ogun West Senatorial District, the paving of the popular Odo Afa Bridge section of the Idiroko-Ipokia Road started today.

The analysis by our Administration, of the deplorable condition of the bridge in earlier years rationalised this project, even as we are continuously executing others in other districts.

Getting ready to lay asphalt, engineers on site at the Elite Road in Abeokuta have started laying stone base.

The alternative route will not only accommodate significant traffic, but the standard with which it will be delivered will also be a welcome addition to what this Administration is doing across Ogun State.

In addition to the many road projects reaching completion across Ogun State, the Imowo-Oluwalogbon Road in Ijebu-Ode will be open for use, as engineers are currently laying asphalt.

The new road, which comes with drainage, will ease the hardship brought about by its previously poor condition, especially during the rainy season.

As the year comes to an end, this road will be delivered as we are concluding plans to begin work on other major and township roads in the coming year.

Motorists will have access to an entire stretch of the 14.7km Ijebu Ode-Epe Expressway by Christmas, after they must have started using 8-10kms of the lane ten days from now.

Today when I disclosed this, I was on an on-the-spot assessment of the ongoing project where I explained that the recently awarded Interchange Flyover project was targeted towards further averting collisions on the intersection involving Ijebu-Ode and Sagamu-Ore.

This project is rated viable, because it will, in addition to bringing in more commerce, better connect Ogun State to the Eastern part of the Nation and ensure safer travel and durability of road.

This morning, engineers working on site at the Kuto and NNPC bridges began laying binder course asphalt on the connecting lanes between the bridges, as well as their service lanes.

Both bridges will in the shortest time be open to motorists, easing congestion caused by traffic inflow from neighboring cities into the State Capital.
