President Muhammadu Buhari and the governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have abandoned Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the party’s governorship candidate in Edo state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said.

The party said that explains why the grand finale rally of the party which was supposed to take place in Benin City yesterday could not hold.
Kola Ologbondiyan, the party’s National Publicity Secretary in a chat with Daily Independent said the only option left for the APC is to manipulate Saturday’s governorship election. He, however, said they will be resisted by the people of the state.

“It is clear that PDP is going to win Edo state. The people have demonstrated their support for our party and our candidate".
“Even as we are speaking, the Ize-Iyamu campaign has collapsed. He has been abandoned by the President, governors and the party and that was why they could not hold a grand finale rally. We held our rally on Tuesday, and they were supposed to hold theirs on Wednesday, September 16th but it was abruptly called off.

“So, it is clear that they are in disarray. The only thing they can do now is the manipulation of the electoral process and we have called on all the people of Edo state to protect their votes. Once the people are ready to protect their votes, there is nothing APC can do about it”.

Speaking further, the PDP also appealed to Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain neutrality and not allow the electoral commission be used to truncate the wishes of the people.

“Professor Mahmood Yakubu is standing before the world. The election of Edo is a global election. He has a responsibility to allow the wishes of Edo people to triumph,” he said.

Take Baba Buhari out of it...During Oshobaba time , many rallies was held in the rain, not an excuse... Baba Buhari tried his best to settle them but they refused , mostly Obaseki and Oshomole also failed to keep to late Kyaris agreement after his death... We saw the president stance in Ogun, Bauchi, Imo, Aadamawa ... Where they seems to be issues within the APC...the president said Vote your conscience , he is not coming for third term... Edo election is about the BAT2023 group and the El-Rufai, Fayemi, Amaechi... group within the APC it's so unfortunate for Oshobaba as his political future is at stake mostly because of his loyalty to BAT.
Some Govs and big wigs in the APC just want to finish Oshobaba because of BAT2023 ambition...
