Governor Aminu Tambwa of Sokoto did it.
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue did it.

Both men are serving their 2nd term in PDP presently. First term was won under the platform of APC.

They did it in Benue State in 2015.
Samuel Ortom lost to Terhemen Tarzoor in the PDP primaries. He quickly jumped to APC and displaced Emmanuel Jime.
APC just adopted him as the candidate without conducting another primary election.
Case closed.
He's currently serving his second term as governor although he came back to PDP before the 2019 election.
