I do have my own reservation about the man especially the way he treated Awolowo, but this is a new political dispensation and Nigeria is at a crossroads, any party at this moment is better than the PDP.

@EKO Ile, ACN is going to lose the presidency and VP either way. But I think it is better for them to just step down for CPC and get a few key positions in the new government.

Ogun is certainly going the ACN way and Oyo would likely fall to the opposition as well. I foresee ACN/CPC alliance working out on the long run, however Buhari will definitely need to put Tinubu on a short leash!

Why do I have these feeling that Ribadu ace up PDP sleeve.
They all of a suden, brought him in from exile in time for the election. Only for him to join ACN as OBJ's mole. With the sole aim of subverting & sharing Buhari's vote from the north and al so to frustrate acn/cpc merger?

Starting to look more and more like it will be a run-off. In such a situation, the ACN needs as many presidential votes as possible to maximize its strength in any coalition with CPC and ANPP (or PDP, if they decide to go in that direction.)

Giving away those votes to the CPC for free makes no sense, imo. Then leads to a loss of control.

Sounds like the most logical thing to do; however, ACN does not want to lose its relevance at the national level. The only
way for ACN to stay relevant is to have their own flag bearer. It's a selfish thing to do, but it's the best political move for ACN if
they want to stay in limelight. A party without a presidential candidate is a no party.

More so, they've learnt their lesson from 2003 experience when OBJ tricked them into not fielding a candidate.

Coming in last is not a great option either, but winning seats all over the SW and the country in general, sending the VP seat to the SW, sharing ministerial seats, pam secs, government agencies and ambassadorial positions sounds better than nothing if for what ever reason Ribadu/ACN finished last.

In my opinion, ACN is not ready or strong enough to go it alone, they need to keep forging alliances with other credible parties till they are strong enough to call the shots nationally.

This is where PDP has got the advantage. Buhari, Ribadu & Shekerau will split the important votes in the north. Not to forget that PDP is also strong in the north. ACN & PDP will split votes in the west, PDP will clean sweep the south south and most of south east. PDP is the only party popular enough in most parts of the country. If ACN doesn't step down for CPC, there is no way they will topple PDP. This is the glaring truth.

For once, i agree 100% with Eko Ile.
Ribadu is not ready for prime time. This may be the best chance for power to be wrested from PDP. It is essential that the SW stands behind Buhari. he seems capable of sweeping the North, if he clinches the SW the presidency is an achievable target for him.

Ribadu doesn't stand much of a chance, sorry to say. Best he throws his weight behind Buhari's ticket and let's take on PDP.
