The first step you need to take before migrating to Denmark is to get a visa to gain entry into the country whether you are planning on a permanent or temporary basis.
When you have made this decision, you will need to organize yourself because you are about to start another face of life. A lot of people will give you advice on how to settle down in Denmark, but most of them are unverified.
Some sources will tell you to purchase your plane ticket and take it along during your visa application. Apparently, the Immigration service doesn’t approve of this. All you need to do is wait for approval before spending any further amount to migrate to Denmark.
Your road to Denmark
You will always need a visa regardless of your application before migrating to Denmark. Though there are many routes to get into Denmark, you can secure entry through education; but one of the best methods is by invite. You can be invited by an individual or an organization.
Once you get an invite by a permanent resident in Denmark, take your visa, copy of your invite, and other required information to the visa processing office. Some of the information expected in your application includes:
- The completed application form (signed and dated)
- A passport photograph measuring 35mm x 45mm
- Travel insurance proof
- Financial evidence with sufficient amount to show you can cater for yourself while in Denmark
- Document supporting the reason for your trip
- Visa processing fee (around €60)
After achieving your migration to Denmark, your visa will allow you a work permit subject to renewal. Once you have been able to stay for at least 3 years with a minimum of at least DKK 436,000 per annum, you are eligible to apply for permanent residency.
