Ae-funai Shows Love Again To Women Of Host Community by cyborgFUNAI: 1:27am On Oct 21, 2020 |
Management of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, on Friday, October 16, 2020, demonstrated love and kindness to the immediate host community as usual by distribution of palliatives to women of the community. The women gathered at the Convocation Arena to receive food items, including mini bags of rice, condiments and cash, provided by University Management, in collaboration with AE-FUNAI Parents Forum. Cross Section of the Women Present to Receive Palliatives Distribution of the items was coordinated by Mrs Grace Eze-Ali, Coordinating VC’s Office and Chris Akubuiro, University Public Relations Officer, who told the women that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Chinedum Nwajiuba took that step to show love and care for them, as he has always done prove they are considered part of the extended university community and for their good neighborliness. According to him, management is aware and concerned about their plight, resulting from the long COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, especially those of them engaged in petty trading, with university staff and students as target customers, who have been away for over seven months due to the lockdown, which has affected their businesses and incomes negatively and brought more hunger. Mrs Grace Eze- Ali handing the items to the women. It was recalled that five aged women among them paid solidarity visit some days back, to express appreciation to VC and his team for the good works going on in the university, which among other things, have provided temporary employment for most of their women who are engaged at the construction sites and in other services in the university. The women requested for support to cushion effects of hunger on their families. Distribution of palliatives was to fulfill VC’s promise to assist. PRO encouraged the women to continue to cooperate with university authorities, to enhance the existing cordial relationship between the university and the host community. Cross Section of the women with the University representatives. Spokesperson for the highly delighted women, Mrs Grace Nwali, thanked VC, management and Parents Forum for the kind gesture, show of love and care for the women, their families and host community, praying fervently that God will continue to bless and prosper Prof Nwajiuba and his family, management, staff, students and the young university. Some of the women smiling home with their gifts. |
