Nigerian Problem Is A Fight Between The Educated And The Non Educated by paxonel(m): 6:12pm On Oct 27, 2020 |
I said this in 2019 immediately after the presidential election https://www.nairaland.com/5049880/battleline-btw-educated-non-educated#76176690 and I'm still saying it now without mimicking, because there are similarities between what is happening now to what happened in the 2019 presidential election, and that is hooliganism, intimidation and violence This is not to stirr hatred towards non educated Nigerians in anyway, but to remind educated Nigerians that they should take responsibility rather than leaving the aim of affairs in the hands of non educated Nigerians (like buhari ruling Nigeria) and the only way to go about it is to keep soliciting for electronic voting system come 2023, where voters can even remain in their homes or elsewhere and cast their vote.s using their android phones, rather than going to a polling unit where balot boxes are snatched by hooligans characterized by all sort of violence and intimidations. Yes intimations! There was also 12 days of peaceful #EndSARS protest perfectly organized by educated Nigerians only for hoodlums and non educated Nigerians sponsored by politicians to come and intimate and hijack the process and cause mayhem even to the protesters, that is act of illiteracy. Military shot at peaceful protesters at lekki toll gate is a clear act of intimidation perpetrated by sponsored illiterate Nigerians calling themselves soldiers. All forms of violence, intimidation and distortion by hoodlums in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest are acts of illiteracy.

And common sense 98% of Nigerias lack it. Education should be free and mandatory for every child. The minimum qualification should be ssce!! 3 Likes |

Op is right, but it is not about education per say, most of our problem is based on culture. African culture is kind of ancient, they can't support modernization or modern civilization. Where the illiterate comes in is that they balk at any and every attempt to modernize Africa, to them it's taking away their heritage. The poor and illiterate don't want to hear about modification of culture because that's all he/she got left, he calls it is tradition and most never be touched, edited, modified, purified or enlightened on. And the price for all this is the fact that just as ancient times we still practice the culture where the leader takes it all, only giving to whomever he chose. 1 Like |

I do not thinks is about education, I believe is more about reasoning. I know a lot of educated persons who still reason as the uneducated. They don't take time to process or analyze what they hear or see. The just believe everything they see or hear particularly from social media. 1 Like 1 Share |

Gabrinoz:very true! But the question is, what type of education do we want ? Is it the type we acquire here in Nigeria schools? May be the government should make a step further to upgrade the standard of our schools. Currently, UI is the best we have based on the international webometric ranking. Yet, the same UI is 1321st position among schools in the world. Then, you begin to ask yourself a question, where is then the school that we are going?

Gabrinoz: I totally concur. To add to it, they demonize anyone who dares to ask critical questions that indicate rational thought. 1 Like |
