Most Efiks feel that most akwa ibomites should go back to Akwa ibom. in fact that is one of the reason the state split .if you are old enough you'll know ibibio and annang were often harassed to go back to Uyo or ikot ekpene Though we all united against the central and northern cross river back then but within there was never unity. these issues must be addressed and settled once and for all. the akwa ibom government should to towards moving their people back home . that is the reality of the situation.
and the view of Efiks towards Ibibios and annang has nothing to do with oil or road . a similar situation would be Japan vs China . did you know even though China is now very developed Japanese still look down on Chinese. it's a historical and traditional thing not really about oil or roads.

go and read what the paramount ruler of the Quas and the Efut thinks of the origin of the Efiks. here is the link,https://punchng.com/as-a-monarch-i-still-lecture-at-the-university-ndidem-of-qua/ i have already quoted the relevant section for you.

Now you are sounding very stupid . you keep repeating the same nonsense .
police in Calabar arrested akwa ibomites for vandalization and you said it's because of 76 oil wells .
Every little thing you bring up 76 oil wells . very stupid. So Cross river police arrested the vandals ,arsonist and thieves and release their names and origin just like they did for other states because of 76 oil wells?

Are there similarities and differences among the three tribes?

There are lots of similarities. For the Efut and the Qua, they picked their tradition and culture from the same stalk- from the Bantu environment. For the Efik people, who crossed in here, they came and saw an interesting culture already in existence, one of them decided to approach one of the Efut communities bordering between Ikang and Cameroon and requested to be initiated into the Mgbe society (the traditional authority that is used to maintain the peace and order within where we are). The society has a very rich display at every time that the culture is in place. The man got that privilege to be inducted and given a title. The title they gave him was Iyamba. The man in question was Ekpenyong Offiong, who was a king in Calabar at a point. The area that the Efik people occupied in the beach area was known as Old Calabar. When the man got the privilege and set up his totem and the Mgbe shrine, he was now able to bring in many of his kinsmen to associate with it. Today, that Mgbe shrine is along Iyamba Street in Calabar South. From there, it has expanded to the different Efik tribes and has developed. All the three tribes play the Mgbe in the same manner but with a critical look, I will know the Mgbe that originates from the Efik or Qua or Efut.

The views of the paramount ruler of Qua on the Efiks and their origins in Calabar fron an interview he granted Punch newspaper https://punchng.com/as-a-monarch-i-still-lecture-at-the-university-ndidem-of-qua/

Lately there's been a lot of fights and bickering between Cross river and akwa ibom .
I want to be honest and set the record straight on this thread. We Efiks do not hate Akwa ibom people , we know we're brothers ,Though most Efiks have a natural urge to look down on Akwa ibomites . For whatever reason we see Akwa ibomites as inferior especially the annang and ibibio , though we know it's wrong . We feel that Ibibio and annang wish for our downfall and are jealous of us .
We feel that you are many in Calabar and everything bad in Calabar like crime and prostitution etc are all caused by akwa ibomites..We wish for most Akwa ibomites to go back to their state, but that does not mean we hate Akwa ibomites.
Some few hardworking akwa ibomites can remain and do business. but generally speaking ,for the long standing feud to end and for us to be in good terms , we feel there should be fewer Akwa ibomites in Calabar. Most Efiks prefer some distance between us and Akwa ibomites. You can argue but God knows that I speak the mind of most Efiks.
The only people in Akwa ibom that Efiks like and get along with are the Oro and sometimes Ekid.
It is best we realize these issues and work things out and move forward instead of pretending.

Lol , There's no such things as whining or feeling in a general collectivism . this thread is for discussion. People can be forced to leave. Donald Duke sent many Akwa ibomites away from Calabar. Landlords evicted many akwa ibomites. Most Efiks still feel most Akwa ibom should be sent away from Calabar and that's the fact.
there are many ways to send people away. 1 . expel them from university of Calabar or CRUTECH and reduce or refuse admission to akwa ibomites, 2. expel them from the civil service and other jobs 3. refuse to rent to them. 4. demolish their homes with an excuse that a road will be built there. etc.
the rest of your ramblings about imaginary figures you are obsessed with is dumb and not worth a reply. My points are only made once and that's it,no more replies .

which Calabar? the city that the Akwa ibomites built? we aint going anywhere, except you buy us out. Akwa Ibomites own 60% of houses and investment in calabar.
Since calabar has become bad investment for us , if you can raise the funds we will sale all our properties in calabar to you, but unfortunately we all know you are poor and will not be able to buy us out. until you buy us out, calabar remains Akwa Ibom Real Estate and we aint going nowhere.

As one of the kings of the tribes in Calabar, what is your relationship with the Obong of Calabar?

I do not have any problem with the Obong. However, from inception, the Obong is the Obong of Efik, not Obong of Calabar. Calabar is made up of the Qua, the Efut and the Efik. If I am known to be the Ndidem of the Qua because I head the Qua tribal group, and the Munene is known as the Munene of the Efut because he heads the Efut tribal group, the Obong should also be known as the Obong of the Efik because he heads the Efik tribal group. The idea of calling him the Obong of Calabar, which is also interpreted as the paramount ruler of the Efik, is a misnomer. This is so because you can be a paramount ruler of a local government area, not the paramount ruler of a tribe. Today, I am the Ndidem of the Qua and paramount ruler of Calabar Municipal LGA, but for him, he is the Obong of the Efik and not the paramount ruler of the Efik because they do not fully control any local government area. Agreed, the Efik people are fortunate to have personalities that spread from local government to state and federal governments and for that reason; they are maintaining the ideology that was mistaken. My relationship would not have interfered with him (Obong of Calabar) if he was managing his affairs without interfacing with mine. It only came to clash when he talked about the nomenclature given to him as the Obong of Calabar by trying to dominate others and extend his authority in the Calabar Municipality, which is the seat of government in the state. Having tried that, he decided to take me to court; but, he lost the case because it can never be.

the ibibio control over 2/3 of LGAs in Akwa Ibom State. and the ibibios control significant portions of LGAs in cross river state too. so why will we be jealous of our less fortunate rambunctious little cousin(Efiks)?

This is a stupid topic.

Do you know that calabar's former name was called AKWA AKPA before it was changed by one white man? Meaning they're the same people.

Do you know that the efiks do not have the population to fill in their civil service when Gershom basset becomes governor and are going to employ the Ibibios to fill in those vacancies.

What is stopping the efiks from having their own children.

Do you know that northern cross River have colonized the Efiks as we speak? How the efiks is going to break free from that slavery is a story for another day.

OP stop your hate and start working towards reconciliation with Ibibios.

An old man who worked in calabar told me that in the 1970's the efiks had been singing ibibio people should go home, now that they've gone. Have you noticed who is getting it better. grin

I'm beginning to think this Akwa ibom coming into Calabar to loot is a story cooked up by northern cross River Ian's, because you can't tell me it was only akwaibomites were the ones looting. That there was no atarm people in the loots.

The same way the yorubas were blaming igbos for Lekki looting. That's what cowards do.

Not to talk of their position with the Atam people. The real fight is for the Efiks to survive in CRS, but they are busy fighting shadows! like any Akwa ibom person send them. the only reason you see Akwa ibomites in calabar today is because of our properties in calabar most of them inherited from the days when Calabar was the capital of Old CRS. Theres nothing in Calabar again, no jobs, no businesses, the infrastructures are all decripict, bad roads everywhere! calabar is a skeleton of its former self and the Efiks are busy chasing shadows!
