Chronicle

This is a GREAT film and I loved it.
This is a story about 3 guys who happen to gain abilities beyond others and unlike the normal movies based on a book or comic we don't know these guys at all and how they are going to turn out.

It was very refreshing and the movie spent enough time on us getting too know the guys and you'll connect with them. We see them gradually learn how use the abilities and it is not rushed at all.

Then when everything goes a bit wrong it is even more exciting because we have no idea how it ends!

The acting was spot on and only the marginal love interest did not seem right also scene with Andrew and the girl at the party is standard teenage movie fare but still excellant.
The film is in the style of Cloverfield and Blair Witch using videocam footage but I thought this enhanced the movie even more and I guess also allowed them to scale down the budget for some of the more fantastic sequences.

Well done Max Landis

This gets from me a well deserved 9/10

True Grit

Another awesome movie, two in one weekend yay!

I enjoyed this western movie very much and mainly due to the three strange characters at the centre of it and the use of old scholl cowboy speak. At this point I will admit to cheating and putting on subtitles when I could not work out what was being said.

Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon were awesome and their rivalry was a pleasure to match, the young girl was one of the best cinematic creations in a way, I loved her precociousness and determination all in a 14 year old. Awesome.

Great acting, intriging if simple plot and great direction

All in all a great watch.

My score? 8/10

The Help.

The acting was great. I'm not so taken with the movie though. Good enough. But why is it supposed to be the best thing since pasteurization?

The Pianist. Beautiful. I had forgotten about the film. I need to watch The English Patient again.

We need to talk about Kevin. Disturbing mayne.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest. I wanna watch that next.

Woman In Black wasnt bad at all. Daniel Radcliffe did pretty well. Theatre was packed with harry Potter fans. That dude is gonna have a huge fan base for a really long time.

It reminded me of Insidious although Insidious was definitely the better movie.

True Grit. 7/10. It worths the time watching it only that it requires some patient. The Southern accent makes it more lively to say the least.

Didn't like The Help. . .Just another "Token Absolution" movies Hollywood produces to make themselves feel good about confronting "the race" issue another Movie is Crash (even though I loved the movie, I didn't think it earned all the awards) undecided
Re: What Was The Last Movie You Watched - Part 2 by queensmith: 8:17am On Feb 07, 2012
i loved crash- i think it garnered the awards because it was different. Atimes it just takes a movie to stir up emotions in you.

Like precious, although i've never watched the movie I can reconcile why people praise it soo much.

Crash is overrated as hell. Didnt deserve Best Picture at all.

I hope The Help fails at the Oscars but since the white academy like to play themselves at seeming "non racist", Im sure it will get quite an amount *rolls eyes*

All this hoopla over Viola should have been 2 years ago when she was in Doubt. she was amazing and should have won best supporting. But now that she's playing house maid, they wanna give recognition. Rubbish.

@sisi_kill When you said you you don't like THE HELP, you kidding, right?, what's there not to like in that film, the performance of all the cast is amazing and even the academy agrees with me, see the academy award nominations,it got the deserving nods in each category, the movie was that good, great ensemble of cast, the plot doesn't seem forced at all, one of the best movies of 2011 imo,
Re: What Was The Last Movie You Watched - Part 2 by kunlefox(m): 11:59am On Feb 07, 2012
@ThiefofHearts
While i agree with your comment bout viola davis in The doubt, she was great in it, and she did a good job in The help also, it's certain she won't win it, since Meryl streep is in that category, she was good as usual in Iron lady and the academy kinda love meryl too,
Octavia could win it ahead of jessica in the best supporting category buh for viola she was good tho,she gotta just take the nomination and that's it(make she forget am),

E. T.

There must be something called Nostalgia overdose. I finished the film (with my serious cynicism in check) and felt the magic I used to feel (that's now completely lost) for movies again. I don't like Mr. Roger Ebert much but I just started to tinker with facts about the film and I read a review he wrote which was spot on.

There's only one Spielberg.

Drive. 5/10. Ryan Gosling is good in love stories. He is a master kisser and nothing so much about that in this movie - boring a little.
