Minnesota Jury Convict Man For Bombing Mosque by Muslimsworldng: 9:10pm On Dec 11, 2020 |
On Wednesday, a jury in Minnesota has finally convicted a man on charges of civil rights and hate crimes charge in relation to the 2017 bombing incident in the city. The bombing incident took place in the mosque with no injures recorded. The convict Michael Hari who is identified as the factional leader of anti-government militia in the city of Illinois, was finally charged and convicted of all five charges against him. Although from the mayhem he masterminded, no serious injury was recorded except the destruction of pipeline and unprovoked shootings witnessed. He was charged for illegal possession of fire arm, disruption of public peace, destruction of public property. During Hari court hearing, he pleaded not guilty to any charge against him but his co-accomplices Joe Morris and Michael Mcwhorter of the crime pleaded guilty respectively. The case prosecutor explained that Hari carried out the crime solely because of his hatred for Islam. The bombing happened on August 5 2017 in the imam's office as the Muslims faithful gather to observe their morning(Subr) prayer. There was no report of any fatality but community members and Muslims were surprised by the incident. Investigation has revealed that Hari has earlier driven from Illinios to Minnesota to instruct his accomplices to bomb a pipeline while he observe. Evidences like recorded phone conversations, tracking device has confirmed that Hari associate to his organization has motivated his plan to attack the pipeline that is also situated around Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center. According to survey study, there was increase in cases related to hatred for Islam. The report confirms that this hatred may not be only associated to religion but ethnicity, race, sexual orientation or gender. More than 8,500 cases has been recorded in 2019 alone.
