Which Niger Delta Federal Universities are you talking about? UniPort or Unical both of which I know very well, there is no such thing as a PTF building or projects there. Don't mistake ETF projects for the defunct PTF's. You talk with so much ignorance and reckless abandon of facts in your blind followership of Buhari, you have turned him into an overnight saint.
This Buhari who you now paint in such glorious terms may have appeared to you as an angel, may indeed be anything else but one. Let us look at this Buhari in an objective manner and see if he indeed is as rosy as you paint him. In 1984, fresh from his coup against what you so call "Shagari's inept and corrupt regime" (and pray tell me which man made regime is free from ineptitude or corruption?) he introduced the War Against Indiscipline or "WAI" which Nigerians accepted with open hands. This man then went on to change the colouration of the currency, ostensibly to check economic saboteurs, and capital flight and he also directed that foreign currency could not be taken out of the country, except a very little sum approved by the CBN. In that same year and at the height of his WAI, we all saw how the matter of an important emir and his 54 suitcases of money seized at Murtala Mohammed Airport was handled. But what was even more curious was that around the time of this incidence, the maverick musician Fela who was traveling for a musical tour to Italy with his band boys was caught with less than a thousand pounds, and was subsequently arrested. Not only was he arrested and tried, but another mysterious telephone call was made to Justice Okoro Idogu the trial judge by Buhari's deputy Tunde Idiagbon, ordering that Fela must be found guilty and given a stiff sentence. This coming from Justice Idogu's very own mouth. Buhari and Idiagbon in their zeal to enhance discipline and curb economic waste, ordered that no underaged person cold go on Hajj to Mecca (under aged being under 18).The same Idiagbon, under Buhari then proceeded to take his own underaged son in the presidential jet to perform hajj. Buhari's government passed a law to the effect that if you publish anything that even if true was in the opinion of the chief of staff supreme military council, capable of embarrassing any public official, then you had committed a crime. When the nation thought he was joking, he sent two journalist, and a cartoonist to jail for publishing materials which were TRUE, but which Buhari found uncomplimentary. When asked by journalist when he was going to transit Nigeria into a democracy, this very man Buhari answered that he had no time for that. You mention that Buhari paid half our national debt. That is a untrue! The fact is that Buhari repudiated all Nigeria's international financial commitments, and stopped all payments till debts could be verified. This ostensibly is a good policy, only that all international financial institution till today lost faith in Nigeria, and refused to give Nigeria credits for her imports. Nigeria from thence on had to always finance her imports before hand by guaranteeing them with her foreign reserves. Further on the economy, Buhari began to barter Nigeria's oil for goods Nigeria needed. Why? Because nobody would do business with the country based on credit, in other words Nigeria was no longer credit worthy, as such we became desperate and started going against our OPEC commitments by bartering our oil for goods far less than their value! In a religious and ethnically heterogeneous country as ours, Buhari saw no problem that both the head of state and his vice under his regime were of the same religion and ethnicity, Muslim Hausa Fulani (although many in the south erroneously believed that from his name, Idiagbon was Yoruba). And while Buhari's tribunals which tried the civilian governors threw them in jail with terms ranging from 5 years to 250 years, it was on record that the cost of keeping the military governors he appointed was more than that of their civilian predecessors (A practice which continued into the Babangida years) Everybody in Nigeria knew that Abacha was an usurper, and that he was uncontrollably corrupt and was also involved in state sponsored murder, but Buhari who you paint in such glowing colours, still agreed to serve under such a man as the chairman of PTF. As chairman of PTF, he made his own cousin the sole consultant for monitoring and assessing the value of contracts. Afriproject consortium was so corrupt that at the inception of Abdulsalami's regime, fearful of exposure, Buhari's cousin committed suicide in his office. When the books of PTF were opened, the can of worms was so much that Haruna Adamu said he felt sickened by it. One body determined the contracts to be awarded, the payments to be made and whether the contracts had been satisfied. Do you know PTF estate in Wuse? The sweetheart deal that Buhari's PTF made with the contractor was so sweet. Not only would the contractor collect rent from PTF, but after 8 years, the place would be his to own! Also, it is on record that though most of the monies which accrued to PTF was sourced from the south, a disproportionately large amount of projects were concentrated in the north, and particularly in Buhari's home state of Katsina, with little done in the east and Niger Delta which needed help more than ever! Is Buhari a statesman? Please ask yourself and answer objectively.

Buhari has a proven track record of performing as Head of State and Chairman of PTF.

As Head of State, he stamped out corruption

Reduced crime rate to low level.

Reduced inflation from 39% to 5.5%

Most people here know how the PTF positively impacted their lives.

GenBuhari:

As much as I would like to see some prove of this, you need to understand that inflation is primarily based on import/export ratio. How inflation reduction can be achieved artificially is to simply close your border to all imports. There was a prolong border closure during Buhari's era and that is probably why we may have had an artificial reduction in inflation rate.

Now let us look at the Economy as a whole during his 1 year tenor. Our external debts increased by $3bn (yes that's three billion dollars in a year!!!). The percentage of GDP dependent on Agriculture reduced from 23.4% to 15.5%. Tens of thousands of Government workers (civil servants) were laid off, there was a wage freeze,  re-introduction of fees and withdrawal of food subsidy; and increased unemployment. Unemployment was on the rise as the recession worsened . In October, 1984, General Buhari himself declared that the government was "to all intents and purposes bankrupt." Essential commodities even became scarce.

Buhari paid off our genuine debt.

He refused to pay off fruadulant debt, leading to collapse of fraudulant Johnson Matthey Bank and others.

Fact is he also controlled inflation by ordering prices to be be kept affordable for the population and punishing hoarding.

Oil prices were at an all time low imagine what he could have acheived if he had oil prices at record highs as OBj had.

Chief, you have once again failed to consult your history books properly. ETF only started to deliver project from 1999 after Buhari had left the scene. ETFs projects came to being after OBJ summarily scrapped PTF. The projects I've referred to were all executed mostly before 1999. If you don't know, all you need to do is ask or consult the internet or better still go back to the respective institutions and confirm. No need to muddle things up, there was no ETF project before 1999. See the ETF official web link on ETF projects for yourself.

Reducing inflation artificially by fixing prices on imported goods, wage freeze and prolonged border closing did not help the Economy. A buoyant Economy is easily noticed by unemployment ratio, purchasing power of citizen and perhaps the country's ability to service debts. During Buhari's era our external debt increased by $3bn in just one year, tens of thousands of civil servants lost their jobs, unemployment continued to rise, essential commodities became scarce, the country was bankrupt and began to barter our oil for good because we were not credit worthy.

All we hear is go and ask this go ask that, dont you find it curious that there is no statistics to prove anything definitive about what PTF did. I hope you read through the garbage you typed above. I just can't imagine how being a slow poke is like, since you've chosen to be one. If ETF has not been able to post projects executed on their website prior to 1999, how can you be so dumb not to recognize the fact that ETF only came into being after PTF was scrapped. It's a pity your parents wasted money and energy in sending you to pass through the 4 walls of a school. Apparently you were just an onlooker in you school years, as it is dumbfounding that you are unable to discern your left from right.

I will certainly not waste my time on dolts like you, as your silly questions have been answered several time over and over again. Although your stupidity will not allow you to use the tiny bit left of the useful part of the sponge you have in your skull to think.

You can keep sulking for all I care, even if you chose to deny the obvious. Go back to your folks who were probably graduating from school when Buhari held sway to ask about the man. Denying PTF is the height of idiocy!

Regardless of how Buhari reduced inflation, he performed  by reducing , he at least made an effort.

What effort did IBB or OBJ or YD or GEJ make to reduce inflation?

What about tackling corruption?

Buhari is the only anti-corruption government we ever had.

Buhari paid of all our genuine debt, he refussed to pay off the fraudulant one.

Buhari was only government to tame corruption.

Having said that remember he was only in power for just over 1.5years.

Compared to PDP in power 12 years and not match Buhari's achievements

Let me explain to you what happened before you veer off course.

Buhari closed the border on import and imposed prices on goods. Say milk was 50k, he said it should be sold for 40k. There that's 20% reduction in inflation by Buhari for you. And what was the effect of that - companies going out of business; companies making losses; soldiers breaking into warehouses, causing mayhem, stealing product and arresting business owners for "hoarding" because they refuse to sell below cost price; scarcity of essential commodities; long queues for essential commodities etc. Does this sound like inflation reduction to you?

You don't even want to look at the other part of the Economy because our external debts increased by $3bn, tens of thousands of civil servants were laid off, wage freeze, increased unemployment as a result of all these policies, school fees re-introduction, mass protest . . . and finally palace coup saves the day.

Really, I don't think Buhari should ever mention the Economy in his campaigns. Better to stick with "PDP Haram"!!!

Buhari tried to make us less dependent on foriegn imports which is why he banned imports, this was what helped him to off our foriegn debt in only 1.5years.

many business decided to take advantage by hoarding and charging exorbitant prices, which made Buhari to intervene to ensure the common man could afford purchase essentials.

My brother all the information available to us from first hand experience, books written and web pages do not support any of this.

Unemployment increased, industries closed down. Even in federal parastatals Buhari had to cut thousands of jobs, recession worsened, essential commodities became scarce. . . Long and short is the Economy became far worse. His Economic policies were a failure of epic proportions. The artificial reduction of inflation failed then and is impracticable now. Democratic markets are largely open markets built on competition. For example Glo came in and reduced call prices. Etisalat came in and further took down the prices. Its 20k per minute now.

Agriculture – At independence in 1960, the proportion of the Gross Domestic Product accounted for by agriculture and petroleum stood at 67.0% and 0.6% respectively; by 1974 the proportions had been reversed to 23.4 and 45.5 per cent respectively. In 1984, (Buhari’s era) the shares of agriculture and petroleum went down further to 15.5% and 28.0% respectively. [4]

External Debt – In just one year of Buhari’s reign, external debt increased by $3billion from $18.5 billion in December 1983 when he took over by coup to $21.2 billion by 1985. [4]

Recovery Measure Failure: Buhari's political and economic aims were almost identical to those of the NPN which he overthrew. [11] Buhari's economic recovery measures included a currency change early in 1984 which involved prolonged border closure, wage freeze, cut-back on government spending, and other "tough medicine." This led to large-scale retrenchment of public servants; students' unrest in tertiary institutions against the re-introduction of fees and withdrawal of food subsidy; and increased unemployment. Unemployment was on the rise as the recession worsened [11]. In October, 1984, General Buhari himself declared that the government was "to all intents and purposes bankrupt." [7]

Buhari also retrenched 53,000 government workers in a bid to cut cost and reduced LGA from 1000 to 301. Buhari also set controlled prices on food items and rationing system where essential commodities like rice, sugar, salt and toiletries. [13]

Buhari closed the country's land borders for a period to identify and expel illegal alien workers (about 700,000 were expelled) [13] and placed severe restrictions on imports and heavy penalties on smuggling and foreign exchange offenses. The austerity measures made it difficult for local industries to procure essential imported raw materials, leading many of them to close or to operate at greatly reduced capacity. Many workers were laid off, and government itself retrenched many workers to increase its "cost effectiveness." All of these actions were accompanied by high inflation. The price of basic food items rose, and life became increasingly difficult, even for the affluent. [14]

Buhari out-performed them all put together and he was only in power for 1.5 years

proporting of GDP attritubatable to agric fell as we discovered oil in 1960 which increased our overall GDP many fold, why did u not compare it from 1982 to 1985?
somze:

Can you go through each issue I raised up and offer a more intellectual rebuttal if you have any? Shying away from evidence with such bland statements doesn't cut.

I displayed references that backed up all my claims. You can not accuse me of lying when you fail to even attempt to display any opposing references. I am at shock as to how you can accuse me of lying even when I backed up my claims with relevant links while you falsely claim Buhari paid of all our genuine debt and fail to show even a link from his campaign website to support this position.

GenBuhari:

Are u aware that IBB took over in August 1985 and increased our debt by taking IMF loan?
What does this have to do with Buhari's collosal economic failure?

Here is El Rufai's answer on this issue

QUESTION: SIR, I APOLOGISE 4 USING THIS MEDIUM TO ASK THIS QUESTION, WHY DID GEN. BUHARI GIVE SOUTHERN NIGERIA THE SHORTER END OF THE STICK DURING HIS TENURE AS PTF CHAIRMAN

El Rufai reply

‎@Ugochukwu, no need to apologize. It is a right guaranteed in our Constitution to express your views and ask any questions, First, that allegation is not true. As an adviser to Abdussalaam Abubakar, we reviewed expenditures of the PTF and found that not only the geopolitical zones had near equal levels of expenditure, but the ration of spending South-North was near equal - 50.5% - 49.5%. I still have all the reports and will publish them one day on the BB2011 website if the false allegations persist. Secondly, The first N1 billion spent by the PTF was for the rehabilitation of waterworks at Iju, Ikeja, Ikoyi and Victoria Island, plus drainage channelization in Lagos Island. It is most unfair to accuse Buhari of any unfairness in his PTF days and I have the facts and figures to disprove such. Thank you.

LSU:

1. He is an oligarch who does not believe in equality before the law. The way he jailed Lateef Jakande, Jim Nwobodo, Ambrose Ali, Pa Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Ayo Ojewumi on cases that had no foundation and allowed Awwal Ibrahim, the then Niger State governor, who was arrested in Heathrow Airport in London with 14 million pounds sterling and several millions of Niara and dollars to be put under house arrest is my evidence. He also allowed Shehu Kangiwa, Sokoto State Governor who conducted and supervised the famous Bakolori Massacre of poor peasant farmers who's land were appropriated without compesation to remain under house arrest.

Ermmm #1 like others, very interesting. When and how did Buhari place Shehu Kangiwa in house arrest since he (Shehu Kangiwa) died in 1981. Abi na dead man house arrest

Maybe you are too much in a hurry

@somze,
The links u posted are not credible websites as they are anti-Buhari and is owned by corrupt individuals.

Buhari was an overwhelming econonmic success!

reduced inflation from 39% to 5%

Paid off all our genuine debt

Refused to devalue the Naira leaving it at approx N1.00=$1.00

Tell which subsequent president has better economic figures.

My rebuttals does not need any links to back them up, it is common knowledge and anybody willing to do little research would find everything I said is verifiable.
