If u follow d story,u will know they weren't there to harm him but just party goers who parked in front of his house.
He admitted to pulling a gun so y defend him, even if d gun is licenced does that give him d chance to pull it at every slight provocation

I wasnt there, neither were you. Seun said he felt threatened and needed to protect himself and it's because of the video he made all these are happening.

Being an #EndSars protester or promoter does not confer on you the right to commit crime and go scot free. Pulling a gun (with or without licence) on people because they park in front of your gate is a crime and Seun kuti must be made to face the law.

We are quick to crucify the police for their excesses but find every alibi to back our own madness.

arresting a member of his family for yet-to-be-ascertained reasons.

SaharaReporters learnt that the policemen stormed the residence in a desperate attempt to pick up the musician, but they met his absence, as he was on a routine morning radio show.
. Like the way they asked Fulani herdsmen where they got their guns. Shior.

Exactly, which is why it was strange Sahara reporters provided no context, other than to accuse the police of persecution.

You pull a gun on innocent people, what do you expect?

First, you assume those he pulled a gun on are innocent but not him? Secondly, there’s no context to when firearms can be used. but clearly when you feel threatened, then you clearly can. the matter in question is a civil case, upon that, he has a valid license. what the police should do is invite him for questioning being a public figure. Not the show of shame to go about arresting other people for someone’s else’s crime. If you do not know what rights you have. Wait until you are oppressed.

Here is a video of him that went viral some time last week. it was trending on twitter, Instagram etc, I wonder How you didn't see it.

watch the full video here, you can skip to slide 7 where he admitted there were gunshots

https://www.instagram.com/p/CIvf0cjrzwZSWS0bOEnnGAoPe9pErVuw3pxenI0/?igshid=5muu751ye628

I take back my words. Seun is setting himself up for arrest, by bragging about the use of a firearm to intimidate anyone, EVEN IF no shots were fired.

Seun, as a political activist, ought to be aware that the state will use ANY pretext to arrest him, therefore he should NOT give them such a pretext, by boasting about using a gun illegally, even if it is duly licensed and in his name. In his youtube video rant, Seun proudly smokes weed, while ranting about his support of violent confrontation. That alone, is a very, very bad idea, given the draconian weed prohibition statutes that are still on the books in Nigeria. Bad idea.

Nigerian firearm permits contain a clear specification that guns are ONLY for hunting, and not for self-defense or personal battles. It is only a matter of time, before Seun will trace his late father's footsteps, into detention. It is foolhardy to admit being unlawful, in any public forum.

In the USA, your comment about using a gun for settling personal scores, or for self defense, would be valid in some states of the union, HOWEVER, in Nigeria, the laws governing the use of guns by licensed firearm permit holders, explicitly prohibit the use of guns in self defense, or during any form of conflict. Guns, in Nigeria, are limited to hunting applications, and that stipulation is printed on every firearm permit issued to civilians by the state.

I actually smh for some of you that post trash about "why will Seun pull a gun on someone else"
Or why will he, a voice in #endsars protest be doing just what he is fighting against or that Fela never pulled a gun on anyone.

All of you guys are surely sick.

Did you watch Seun talk about what happened?

Even a Landlord has no right to block or park in front of a gate of a house he has rented out. The President don't have a right to park on my gate and prevent me from living my house because he wants to party.

Someone can shoot and kill because that is trespassing on someone's property and you have endangered that person's life in case of life emergency.

We need to wake up in this country and stop all these bias views. Because someone feels he is rich does not give him right to oppress anyone at will. It is wrong and we must stand against such oppression

I did not mention personal scores settlement as a reason for the use of firearms. Even the IG made it clear to the police to make use of their weapon if they feel threatened. And you expect a civilian who’s asking for his premises to be evacuated by trespassing individuals who are claiming rights to your premises to not make use of his firearms? Do you know what business he has in there that is being obstructed? You are trespassing, blocking the entrance to a person’s home and they have every right to pull a weapon on you if you have been told to move without obligations.

So, Fulani herdsmen are justified to take the laws into their own hands because they feel threatened by farmers.

That's the logical end game of your assertion.

Good job.

As a duly licensed gun owner of one quarter century and counting under Nigerian law, I assure you sir, that even in the case of trespass, Nigerian law does NOT permit the confrontational use of a firearm by any civilian homeowner, regardless of whether or not that weapon happens to be licensed. The ONLY legitimate civilian use of a gun in Nigeria, is for hunting, and a statement to this effect is actually printed on every firearm permit issued by the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

That said, I have on occasion been obliged to administer warning shots in the dead of night, when the perimeter of my jungle hideout was breached by uninvited guests, but I would NEVER own up to having taken such corrective measures in any public platform where my identity is known. The law must be SEEN to be followed by all who cherish freedom and peace. Never brag about breaking the law, especially online.

Well,I don't know what is wrong in having fire arms in this country,so far it's for you protection in law abiding dealings.
On this issue I stand with Seun.If Meyatti Allah can carry gun in Broad day light,if Fulani can carry Sword ,Machette, and Knifes..why can't southern youth protect themselves..
I see area boys with guns during election..But I think the illegality of owning a gun is only for Southerners especially the Educated youth.Because they can't afford to make them have access to Gun and pursue freedom from Oppression.

Well Seun ,should be more patient dealing physically with people,The guy threatened him,he should have let it pass at that instant .or even get the guy arrested by the same police for Assault.

Not all fight worth it.
what he carry is much bigger, and the people against him are physically and spiritually powerfull.

Well I'm still waiting for 30 police to go after the arrest of Kankara boys Kidnapper.
