Greeting all.... Its 18weeks already. Today is another notable happy day in the life of a passionate livestock farmer as my birds just dropped their 1st egg today. I was filled with joy when I checked the nest I prepared for them as I normally do when I am back from work and to my greatest surprise, an egg was right there inside the nest. If only these birds can talk, they will testify the joy in their owners face. Am grateful to God that we are moving forward even though it might not be as expected. I pray we shall all be happy in any aspect we are involved in. 25 Likes

So sorry that the thread have being idle for a very long time. I was pondering and ofcourse looking for finance to fund the incubator. Presently the noilers have been laying with no hope of hatching which have forced me to be selling the fertile eggs to consumers against my initial wish. Initially I wanted to buy a kerosene manual incubator but later understood the mode of operation which requires manual turning of eggs every 4hrs which is against my job timing (8am-6pm). I even tried a state government loan (against my parents wish), only for them to list a level8 civil servant as a compulsory signatory before they can grant my request; I immediately gave up on them because I know with the situation of the country, being a guarantor will be a NO NO for many people. I also tried relatives... All to no avail If you've been in need of something that isn't yours, you will understand that Trust is indeed a great virtue. 8 Likes |

Also I took 11eggs to the only Commercial hatchery here in Nsukka, just because am not happy selling these eggs to consumers and also to test the incubator. There price was #150 per egg. They agreed on #1500 for the 11eggs which the expected day of hatching is 4th of June. After all this drama, I started researching on how I can construct the incubator myself with the help of some YouTube Channel and some blogs. Features of the incubator 1. Automatic egg turning (using a timer) 2. Solar powered (for durability sake) 3. 150 eggs capacity My budget for this is #120k. I pray the project turns out +ve. By the Grace of God, I hope to start by the end of this month. The money isn't a small one tho I will be glad if anyone has an advice for the young passionate agropreneur 5 Likes |

kennethfranc: Hmmmm.... Let us see what we can come up with. Bro, how many hours do you have electricity daily in your place? |
Re: My Journey Into Livestock Farming (Noiler 1st) by kennethfranc(m): 7:26pm On May 17, 2021 |
Attit: Less than 5hrs daily sometimes the voltage will range from 90-120volts |
Re: My Journey Into Livestock Farming (Noiler 1st) by Attit: 8:15pm On May 17, 2021 |
kennethfranc:Meaning you do not have a good source of electricity. You need 24 hours when voltage drops, and about 20 hours when you have electricity. Pathetic. You need an off grid system. No way about it ...you need an automatic incubator. I do not know about 120 eggs cost, but 170 to 180 eggs capacity is around N130k to N160k. Anyway, I have 176 eggs capacity which I lended out new, but the fellow will return it soon (not new, but almost new). I can give you at a very good price. As in, I will cut the price very well. Let's say you have electricity overnight, and you need battery just during the day, I would just say you buy one which can power it for 8 hours daily, but I think you need to get off grid solar system to power it. Definitely, if it's only battery you need, you may not spend more than N120k or just a little above. But with this solar system you will need, it may cost more. By the way, its 85W or so. Or may be lower. Not sure. If you are interested in taking the incubator, let me know so you can go check it. But I assure you that the best price you will ever get it is what I want to give you just to encourage you. I dont have the intention of selling it, but let me just assist you. And then, you find a way to build a solar system for it. I may assist you with that also, but I dont know the final price. 7 Likes |

Attit:Thanks very much sir for your kindness. On the course of searching, an incubator producer already agreed to assist me in the process which I believe might turn to another source of income by His Grace. Thanks a lot for the offer tho 1 Like |

kennethfranc:Not sure I understand you. Are you saying you do not want it? Cos this is what your post is saying, and on the other hand, I got a private message from you. I only want to assist with the incubator as this is the reason I asked you to contact me. If you do not need it it's ok. Not sure what the incubator guy is giving you, but you need automatic Turners and an off grid electric system for it. It is not like I am selling it to you, you will use your money buy the off grid system yourself. I believe you van scout for it. The incubator seller you approach will buy from the same sources you will approach. If you can calculate yourself which I want to do for you. Using generator is not ok bro. No matter how you see it. And you do not need inverter for mine. Just solar panel, fuse and batteries. If light is stable for like 15 hours daily in your place, it's only the battery part you need.. Anyway, if you are sure the incubator you want to buy will be OK for you, then, I am happy for you. And that is ....Goodluck bro! |

Re: My Journey Into Livestock Farming (Noiler 1st) by Attit: 11:07am On May 18, 2021 |
kennethfranc:If you are interested, go check it. If you are not, it is fine. And check online for 176 to 180 eggs capacity cost. That is what I want to give you. And we discuss the price you will take it. Then, go consult a solar energy expert the cost of powering it off grid. After, you return and we can discuss a cheaper template. Bro, I am tired of making myself too available for people. Go and make research of the prices first. But I know the best offer is around the table, but it's not going to wait too long for you. If I change my mind, not giving out again, that's it. And I dont know the kind of system they can build for you in Nigeria. You have said it. You will either be turning the eggs every 4 hours, or they ask you use gen to power it. But what you need is an off grid system. And I am sure that with the Capacity....you cannot get it elsewhere cos na dash a wan dash. That's all I have to say. If you want to see it, go and check it out. If its price you want to be discussing here, good luck! Modified: Please, check your email. 3 Likes |

Wow!!! Just wow. I created a thread few weeks ago asking if Noilers are good for Egg production but didn't get a reply. https://www.nairaland.com/6543467/noiler-good-egg-production I bought 10, although my initial plan was to buy 30 or more. Maybe I will start updating that thread too. 2 Likes |
