Oga there's a Famous statement and I quote,

“What the elders can see while sitting down, the young man cannot see it, even if he climbs the highest Iroko tree". grin grin

A word is enough for the wise.

In this context, I guess the above quote is irrelevant dear.. This is because OP's mother did the same thing by going against her parents wishes and settled for her one true love...

Assuming she obeyed her parent those days and married whom they chose for her then your quote would have made some sense now.... why didn't she abide by what the elders see/ iroko climbing those days?..

It might not be out of place if I say that the quote was fallacy.... considering OP's parent successful marriage..

The OP never indicated that his parents has a successful marriage grin

Your mom won't agree with you until you start living on your own terms. You eat her food, drink her water, sleep in her house, and you want to choose a wife for yourself?

Your mom's reactions already show that you should never get married to any woman or discuss marriage issues for as long as you live under the same roof. Stop the marriage talks.

It's good to set targets for yourself but better to set realistic goals.

Shouting match will not solve anything... Getting angry where no one tends to listen to another person's opinion won't help..

Do operation 7day best behaviour... Be extra nice to your dad for one week.. within the 7th day, while he's relaxing, buy two bottles of what ever he likes.. join him and tell him u want to talk.. Ask him why his in laws refused to let him marry their daughter and what he did/ how he handled it.. let the conversation flow without interruption.. From there, you can figure out what to do..

is it my father that have never sat down to advise me...They won't ever talk... especially my dad

You are even too young for this kind of discussion. Are you and your girlfriend gainfully employed or you just want to get married and still depend on your parents. Marriage is for matured people.
