there are so many drugs for it but the best way is to prevent it by ensuring the litter is dry. Avoid wet litter

Gozychuks: Who knows about supreme chicks? When is the best timing for buying broiler DOCs against xmas and how much will it cost to feed 200 broilers from day old to maturity n hw many weeks will this take. My target is Xmas

If you feed your broiler ad libitum (everytime of the day),at 7 weeks they would have attained good market weight. The mistake we make is that we tend to be miserly with feed and in turn they stay longer to attain market weight hence eating into the little profit the farmer would've made.Mind you the older they become the more feed you will feed them because their feed conversion rate lessens with age. So i will advice you time when you will be selling of your birds at 7-8weeks to be that xmas period hence purchase your DOC 7 weeks away from xmas.If you doubt this why dont you give it a try now, afterall it still 19 weeks away from xmas

I forgot to add, please ensure good biosecurity measures so that the incidence of pumping any drug more especially antibiotics into the bird's system in a bid to treat one form of disease or the other would be reduced. Also maintain a good and prompt vaccination shedule, get your vaccines from reputable source and ensure you vaccinate early in the morning, vaccinate within 30 minutes after reconstituting your vaccine, discard left over vaccines.Remember the anthem...YOUR POULTRY BEDDINGS/LITTER MUST ALWAYS BE DRY. The only thing you can do is to give multivitamins, which has almost no effect on them.

poultry keeping is like computer.the birds will give to you what you fed them.with proper management. You can achieve 2.5kg in less than six weeks.

Hi fnk,

I'm asking again...

sir, if you'd be kind enough to allow me, I'd really like to visit your farm
I really would love to learn from your broiler farm if I can get an appointment with you

If you are not in the country, you could facilitate the visit for me with your men on the farm.

Hoping to hear from you.

Thanks and God bless.

@Agonbello.
The secret is feeding. Feeding & feeding.
Broilers will consume abt 4kg of feeds to produce 2.7 kg live weight. If you are miserly with the feed. You will end up feeding them more over a long period of time becos they will use part of the feed for their daily body requirement. If you can achieve giving them 4kg feed consumption in 40 days; the better._

hoskeymani: Thanks to u all for ur useful contributions to this educative & informative thread.........Please I would like to venture into Comercial layers farming. I seriously need mentoring because I know it requires guidance, assistance & experince. I reside within Enugu State. Please, can anyone render help to me ?
Email: hoskeymani@gmail.com

prayerfully check out the following reputable farms in enugu (Phinoma farms and nebo farms), find your way to them, let them know your mission, let them know you are prepared to work for free and also willing to stay in their farm to work and learn. you can also make enquires about other farms, I know enugu is blessed with a handful of them. May you find favor with God and men. Cheers.

hello my fellow farmers, i want to carry out culling on my farm. my birds production have been slightly above 75%. so i need to remove the non laying birds to reduce cost of feeding.

anyone with pros/cons of doing that should please enlighten me as this will be the first time am doing this.

the birds started laying this january, they reach 95% at a point before we had a major issue that saw the production dropped to 25% -30%

1. isa brown
2. Yes, I dewormed them before they started laying.
3. No same feed
4. My birds are in their 25th wk
5. They have bn relatively free from sickness as I had only treated them for cocidiosis only ones when they were still young. So apart from lasota and vitamins notin more.
6. Free range
NB: their Penn is always kept clean and out of 345, I'm having upto 10creates of eggs currently at their 25th wk. I need a mild drug that won't affect their production cos they are still adding more eggs by d day.

there is nothing like a mild drug, cuz if u adminster them with anything called drug, dia production rate will certainly drop, pls jst stick to ur steadily 83% rate at d moment and while u do d following: 1/-layers on free range system find it unlikely to reach optimum production of at least 95% compared to batt cage. 2/check for free flow ventilation in and out of d pen.3/(it could be heat stress problem) so make sure d daytime temperature in the pen shuld not exceed 27'C. 4/supplement their lighting condition with some extra bright fluorescent white lights suppended in dia pen to add up a total of 18hr duration maximum: i am aware of some rechargeable artifical lighting products in d mrkt and moreover they need it to stimulate their ovaries. In as much as I will agree with you that feeding the Broilers actually lead to a good result,I will also like to tell you that you can feed them 100 times a day and still not achieved a desire results. With moderate feeding and good hygiene, an healthy Broiler should attained 2.5kg of body weight in 7 weeks.

The kind of feeds they consume and management matter a lot. For instance, a stress free bird that consumed 3.5kg of feed in 6weeks would definitely heavier than the stressed one within the same period. Besides, if you don't allow the food they consume to process at least for a while before giving them another one,you are just giving them a reason to spoil your litter with poo every 2days.

One thing about Broilers is that,if the entire birds are eating 20bags of feed daily, and you give them 30bags same day, they will still consume everything and even want more with almost the same weight they added when giving 20bags. It's all about calculation.
