Move to finisher direct especially if u want want to attain the required weight within 7 - 9 wks. Growers are often use for layers by the way.

In as much as I will agree with you that feeding the Broilers actually lead to a good result,I will also like to tell you that you can feed them 100 times a day and still not achieved a desire results. With moderate feeding and good hygiene, an healthy Broiler should attained 2.5kg of body weight in 7 weeks.

The kind of feeds they consume and management matter a lot. For instance, a stress free bird that consumed 3.5kg of feed in 6weeks would definitely heavier than the stressed one within the same period. Besides, if you don't allow the food they consume to process at least for a while before giving them another one,you are just giving them a reason to spoil your litter with poo every 2days.

One thing about Broilers is that,if the entire birds are eating 20bags of feed daily, and you give them 30bags same day,they will still consume everything and even want more with almost the same weight they added when giving 20bags. It's all about calculation.

So what's the ideal consumption rate in kg per day per broiler for optimum results

Let's say I have 100 birds does that mean they will eat 320kg to 400kg of feed per day.
Dats abt 32000 to 40000 naira per day.

Lol. That's not what he meant. He means 3.2Kg to 4Kg feed per broiler from day-old to maturity.

Hello house, my layer birds are coughing and I didn't see tylosin to buy for there treatment, pls what other effective drug should I buy?

I feed my broilers this morning before leaving the house and they were all looking healthy,only for me to come back and met one lying down very sick and died after some hours. Though their poo was a bit watering. Pls wat could be the problem.

I think d sudden change in weather affected ur birds. Perhaps u might want 2 heat up their environment in this cold weather.

Has anyone thought of procuring poultry do-it-urself test kits? I have been researching online and find that there are a couple of test kits available 4 a range of livestock not just poultry.

Do you mean '200watts of electric lamps' or charging lamp, etc? Lamp is not that effective compare to coal. Just one heating coal pot in a well seal small brooding house is enough for your 500birds.

Besides, you only brood for a minimum of 4/5days or maximum of 7/10days depends on weather.

this is a misconception that needs 2b corrected. U don't only need 2 raise d temp in an area of brooding birds only. Even 4 mature birds u need 2 raise d temp either 2 maintain maximum egg production or help boost d birds natural anti-bodies fighting mechanisms. U must 1st and foremost concentrate on helping ur birds 2 naturally fight anti-bodies by helping 2 boost its immune system. Effective lighting, temperature, humidity, nutrient and wind speed control are essential 4 each of d birds immune system strengthening.

It's only Layers that needs warm environment or light to boost their egg production, not Broilers.

Once the broilers pass brooding stage(which should'nt more than 10days maximum, the only thing they need is adequate ventilation or fresh air.

I practice what I'm saying ok!

Definitely you must have completed their vaccine by six weeks. Since they were all very healthy before you left, I suspected the death might be as a result of 'Stress'(caused by inadequate space or ventilation or they are struggling to take feed,hence stress out.

Broilers are very fragile animal, stress caused by the aforementioned condition kill them faster than disease

one bulb per 100chicks mounted and subspended at least 1.2m abv floor level, d space containing the brooding chicks must be enclosed slightly to allow little air passage and one bulb should be removed from them every week spent. Always make sure there's enough feeds and water for them to avoid dehydration. Try n observe the movement and postioning of the entire chicks- if they cluster at one another closely in one position_that means the heating environ is not enough, i.e they are cold/2_if they scatter sparsely and far apart and away from the heating source that means they are scotching and burning in d heat/3_and finally, if they all move freely and about picking n playing at eachother as if they are enjoying their new home_that means the heating source is OK. Adjust as nid arises

All birds require a certain range of temperatures. If u practice what is wrong does that then mean its right? Besides u need 2 learn 2b civil. Even 4 broilers high humidity and below or above required temp can grossly affect rate of weight gain. Learn and stop arguing blindly.

yeah, u are right & 100% correct. Anything below 21'C can cause weight loss in broilers/reduce in egg size in layers & anything abv 27'C equally applies-expt for egg drop in layers
