Some women just love burning bridges and bringing problems for men. I hope your brother handles the situation well.

this isn't the first time, beside you are becoming a thorn to that union. the day she got married to you bro that home became her territory, so she reserve every right to protect and defend her territory from intruder.
go drop your entitlement mentality, you have no right in that home. that you laboured with your bro is a wrong statement (if at you did, she is here to reap from your effort or from your labour) all the while you were helping your bro, you were preparing the ground for her.
the better you start thinking about how build your own Empire than wrestling someone else's from her.
please let her enjoy her marriage in peace.

A male friend visited you (you're probably a female)

You entered her kitchen without her permission and cooked for your male

She sensibly did not interrogate you until your male friend left

She probably did not confront you then after but you probably was rude or discourteous to her and she threw you out.

If what I narrated above was as it happened, she'll defeat you in any court 100%.

Any Nigerian in-law that makes these two statements;

1: Calling a family house “MY BROTHER’S HOUSE”

2: Telling you how they suffered with their brother before you came in...

Is most likely a very troublesome, disrespectful, entitled, egoistic, irrational, unmanageable and petty in-law.

OP used those two statements with so much effrontery. Tells a lot about him. Anyone supporting you should take you in and you try that nonsense with their wives, let’s see how many days you last there.

Make no mistakes, the problem is not the pot or the kitchen, that was just a trap and you fell into it. After all, she knew you wouldn’t come into her room or try to touch her butt. So, she waited for you in the kitchen.

After taking tramadol with your U-27 friends, you come home and start rubbing shoulders with her. You must be sick in the head.

Submit to your brother’s wife and control that your sharp mouth.

You saw the woman’s siblings dishing food, but you refused to see them HAPPILY washing her car and running errands for her. Which I am sure if she sends you, you will open your mouth waaaaa and say she wants to turn you to houseboy. Wives family come to serve, husbands family come to be served, because it is “MY BROTHER’S HOUSE”.

Newsflash: your brother is not the one keeping the home running. Yes, he drops cash, but he can’t turn that cash to comfort. So, you all must learn to submit to the person that makes the house conducive for in-laws and visitors. Know this and know peace.

Naaaa.....don't even act like you don't know I hit the nail on the head. What I said its the truth and very prevalent in Nigerian homes. A mans home belongs to, and mostly enjoyed by his in-laws...its even more apparent in Igbo homes, in fact. Go check around...many married men are training their wives sisters in universities. And it is usually the wives that persuade the men into doing that. But she can easily raise dust when the man try to spend much on his siblings.

At my uncles place back then, poco, na me dey wash the cars o. Na me dey labour for house o....though the wives brothers do go to work in the morning because they were in their 30s. I was just around 19..20. And a student.

This issue here can easily be avoided if the OP moved out from beginning. I can't imagine myself staying with any relation that is married. NEVER happening...except for just a day or two days visitation. There are situations a man should never pray to be in...and always work hard to not find himself in. This is one of them.

No, it's not an unfair assumption on my part because by reason alone, nothing takes place without a cause (or causes). She certainly didn't wake up one day and decided to pack his things out without any cause(s), so there are things that have led to it.

He shouldn't even be living in their matrimonial home in the first place.

None of you here will take him in, your virtuous wives won’t even allow it and una no wan spoil una own home. Does she have the right to fling him out? YES. Was it right to fling him out? NO. However, I am glad the nonsense EBSU boy would have his wings clipped. grin grin

It is not necessarily a food issue. The problem here is one of propriety. I would be offended too if my brother in law does same. However, the lady in question went too far. Throwing her brotger in law out shows she lacks respect for her husband. She should have aired her grouse in a more civil way or taken it to her husband. There might be more to this story though.

You have spoken well but PLEASE, dont make excuses for her!
Even l will not throw my wife sister out of my house, no matter whather offense was, without first informing and seeking the opinion of my wife, out of respect for her, despite the fact that it is MY HOUSE and l can accept or eject whoever l deem fit.

Even if she owns the property and the Husband is unemployed at the moment, it still cannot excuse such arrogant, abuse of Power and disrespect!
Which Power sef? grin
Comfortable people are always looking for someone to eat their food because it gets expired in the Pantry, one has to use effort to get it sorted, not to mention that it could encourage rodents in the house.

There is nothing l enjoy more than entertaining people with food because if l dont, l will still have to throw them away and still replace them. angry

No one is a villian in their own story.

I am sure if the op gives us the back story of events leading up to him cooking for his friends it will be a different scenario.

Even from the little the op has said, even a blind man can see there are underlying issues but the op cleverly left it out.

You're very correct. But there's an exception to every rule. Maybe this is it. Experience has taught me to never pass judgement from afar so I'd rather not make assumptions and wait to hear the other side of the story.

I hate all this nonsense.
if I was the Op I will make sure she regret ever doing that. first I will report to my parents and my other siblings and then if my brother doesn't do anything, I will disown my brother simple. and you all know when two bloods are quarreling cause of a lady, the Whole family will end up hating that lady. and besides since she says her husband's house belong to her, anytime she comes visiting with her husband to my father's house or anything and I'm there I will treat her like dirt. infact, if possible I will shout that I don't want to see her step her witchy food in my father's house. so let her and her husband go back to where they're coming from
I will be the reason for their marriage to breakup and I will have no atom of pity. me I wicked o!

I don't see any wrong the op did there. she has no right ever.
if she wanted him to leave she should talk to her husband to also talk to him apart leaving and giving them space not behaving like an uncivilized maniac.

It is a POWER and CONTROL issue!
To dominate or kill a prey, you first isolate such prey.

When a Lion wants to kill a Buffalo, it understands that they move in a herd and the herd will kill a Lion, anyday.
What it does is to create a diversion by running rough around the Buffalo herd, without attacking but scattering them.
It then selects the most isolated one, further isolates it by not attacking it directly but planting itself in-between the main herd and the one it is targeting.
The Mumu Buffalo (like our Brothers here grin ) glances at the Lion and concludes it is not going to attack it but because it is standing in-between it and the herd, this target Bufallo moves further away from the herd, to avoid the Lion.
Once there is enough distance between the herd and the target Buffalo, the Lion then launches his attack and grabs the Buffalo by the throat, cutting off oxygen supply to vital organs and more importantly, prevent it from calling for help.

That is how MOST Women of nowadays, operate. Isolate, attack and Conquer..
Brothers got to be aware. undecided

See do you know the Op can wreck her marriage? For eg if he's mother is still her alife he only need to report that to her and I'm telling you from that day henceforth the mother will make life miserable for that woman. and you know a man love their mother to much and no matter what you do or say as a wife, his mother will always come first before you.
By reporting that, the mumu woman have created enmity between herself and her husband's family. from the Op mother down to the op siblings, they will see the wife as evil who have come to distroy the family and no matter what you will say, we all know the importance of family in one's marriage..

I can just imagine what would have happened assuming OP dished out the food she (the sister in law) prepared by herself to his friend smiley... His luggage would have been at the entrance gate to their estate.. smiley.

All we wanted for them is peace my brother nothing more..

what I disliked in some people's attitude here on Nairaland is that sometimes they seems good at playing 'culture card' when it suits them perfectly.. like in this case, majority have already became Europeans all of a sudden, They have started forming nuclear family on OP.. they have seen OP as someone who has committed a great taboo by staying with his married Elder brother... But did the African culture permits that? that's a question for another day...

But when situation shifts bases, and sh!t hits the roof in a relationship between married couple,, the same people dishing out Europeans style advise; that were forming nuclear family will be like why not call his family, don't u have uncle, sister, bla bla bla..They just remembered African culture when it feels convenient...It's just annoying..

Or if God forbid, the Husband suddenly dies, that is when they will know that family is important.
You will hear her tell her daughter: Yoru Uncle is the Chairman of XYZ, go to him and ask him for Money or is he not your Father's brother?
Or you will hear: Uncle X, these Children are your Children now, you cant afford to nit help look after them since their Dad is decease!

That time, all their "Me and My Husband Only" mentality will suddenly become useless. undecided

But l wont blame Women, you cant read the nonsense some "Wimp-Simp men" are writing here!

Yes. You are not married to him. Get a life. What the heck is this: "a male friend visited, and I went to the kitchen to cook and serve him", in someone else's home?. Who do you think you are?. I guess you now know where the hatred is coming from. If it is true that you and your brother struggled for everything he owns, then ask him for a share of the product of that struggle. Let that lady enjoy her marriage. Get the f**k out of her home.

Do you know if he reports this to the family especially the mother, it will make the wife become an enemy to the family? The mother and possibly his siblings will make it their point to end that marriage. And you know the way a Son takes his mother, she comes first before his wife.

Op ur brother is married so let them be and go and start ur own life
You are the one giving ur brother's wife the excuse to see you finish cos when a man does nothing but eat, sleep and watch tv all day and entertain friends then a woman is bound to disrespect him. That u have nothing doing at the moment no mean say u go just kak for ur brother house being idle all day.since u claim it was u and ur brother that both gathered money to start his life then tell him to settle u so u can go rent ur own place.no let woman see u finish cos of food and other petty issues.
