dominique: Then why did they now shortlist him for the interview when they knew they wouldn't employ him? I once had an experience when a friend who is an RCCG Pastor got a job for me.... It was just remaining for me to clear the last hurdle of the interview.... The Pastors there told me they couldn't give me the job cos I was not an RCCG member.... They knew initially I wasn't and still called me for the interview. So it might be possible in this his case. 4 Likes |

Me I was wondering maybe the boyfriend who broke her heart from Igala or her landlord or whosoever.
What surprised me the most what the effontry to not only ask, but to give her silly feedback openly, which alrwady signalled a red flag of me even joining them. Lo and behold, they didn't give me the offer.
This happened at ILUPEJU, LAGOS. The Lady is TOLU and the Organisation is THISTLE PRAXIS. I hope some bosses train their people to learn to put sentiments aside when sourcing for talents! I hope someone else would not suffer bitterly having folks like that in positions.
Lastly I think it is best that beyond education, we should learn and try to travel. Get to know other ethnicities. Most of my Igbo and Yoruba friends still do NOT clearly understand the geo-cultural landscape in Middlebelt (so called North Central). This knowledge is really important and helpful beyond the classroom education. well, that was what the purpose of NYSC was suppose to be. |

Even tho op's story is largely bullshit, what disgusts me about this despicable flatin0s is the fact that they do exactly what they blame others for but are fast to take up the victim card, any Yoruba employing an Igbo is simply stupid, as far as the 60s Ahmadu Bello said this thing about the clannish, dubious and vindictive nature of igbos and spitting on the faces of those who help them, their unruly, savage behavior which they stupidly call republicanism made them a people where everyone what's to lead but no one wants to follow which is why they find it difficult to get along with their bosses and authority, they always think they can cheat the system cus they feel they're smarter than others but when they get caught they start begging, ask yourselves why in Indonesia, ghana, south Africa and other nations always have some bad expirence with igbos, business wise they're simply crooks and cheats who inflate prices or sell fake or substandard products, check computer village, ladipo or and known Igbo market, plus you'd hardly see a second generation Igbo business, .... I manage my family's estate in lagos and I can't count the number of times I've had to settle issues with these people in court....they pay rent very late, but are always renovating and they are always looking for a legal loophole to expliot, they're bad neighbors always picking fights with those around them and very confrontational...... summary is that I've stopped renting to this bastards, as per employment and opportunities i don't exploy them but I keep a few of them as non executive board members, honestly I find it easier working with yorubas especially Yoruba women. To avoid stress in life just avoid this Igbo people like a plague. 2 Likes 1 Share |

IME1: This your topic is real and needs addressing.
I wanted to share my experiences - had and heard
But I figured that the thread will become tribalistic, biased, volatile, heated and painful memories will once again arise, once people start sharing their experiences. Some did not lose the job but are being denied promotion, or being harmed in ways so they quit themselves, or being denied what others of that tribe are benefiting.
The Bible said in Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: Proverbs 6:19 a false witness who gives false testimony, and one who stirs up discord among brothers.
Stay well @ op your friend will get a better job this month in Jesus name, amen. But tell him I said that he should not repeat the evil he has received whenever he is such position to hire, but show to be a better person by never discriminating against any tribe, especially that tribe who rejected him. If not, he will become like they he condemns Seems we know the same story... |

You cause problems everywhere you go. You brought the hatred you have for Yoruba to Yoruba soil and expect a pat on the back? Most landlords in Lagos have made it clear not to give out their house to igbo thanks to past experiences. You need to address your characters very well, work on your attitude before jumping bus to Lagos. Not everyone kicks their parents with sliding tackle to wake them from bed like you do.
If you can't adapt with our ways of life, I don't know what you're still doing on our soil. Only few of you have manners and that could be because they've lived with us for long. Most of you relate with others the way you relates with yourselves in alaigbo and you expect us to embrace you. This is not about tribalism or something I think the company action to that was maybe because they had a bad experience with an employee..igbo people should learn how to comport and should learn how to relate well with other tribes.. most times it is out of jealous.... one yoruba man told my brother that he will not rent him a flat especially those in alaba because he is afraid that he will buy the house from him. My dear, tell igbos to stop the to hell attitude and work on building good relations with people. There are thousands of such stories above. It's not tribal hating, it's the igbotic attitude You made a point which is equally an advice to all ethnic groups, but let me educate you something about the Igbo's, just like every other tribes with their own behavioural attitude, an average Igbo man is very vocal, meaning they don't condone nonsense, you wrong them, they confront you about your ill attitude irrespective of your position, so many people find this offensive and threatening, If an Igbo gateman can talk to his boss on how he feels when he is hurt, what will he now do when he climbs up that ladder, that is more reason people Don't want them around most times, Igbo men have never been the yes sir kind of people when you demean them, some people also have natural hatred on Igbo's probably because of what they heard but have not seen, When you travel abroad and gets in a tight corner as a Nigeria, you are likely to receive much more help from an Igbo man more than any other tribe in Nigeria, I am a witness to this, that someone is brave enough to confront his problems doesn't mean he is a problematic person, it is better to speak up than to die in silence, my candid observation. 6 Likes 1 Share |

jirehUB: I’ve had an experience, but I’ll like to start by saying something my father used to say( he’s late now) The white Americans( whatever this means) don’t like black Americans (whatever this means)
Black Americans don’t like African Americans( immigrants)
Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo don’t like themselves Igbo man from Anambra feels he’s superior to Igbo man from Abia Man from Aba feels he’s superior to man from Umuahia Man from Umuahia south feels he’s superior to man from Umuahia north The red blood cells are always at war with the white blood cells
It’s in human nature to despise what he’s not.
A few years ago an agent sent me to work for one Igbo man at Idumota Lagos.
When he saw me first thing he asked was “ are you from anambra?” I said no
Where are you from? Abia state
Ahhh you’re my brother oo
Kee kwanu? ( how are you?)
I’m fine
What part of Abia are you from?
Umuahia
Umuahia... people from umuahia are always too stubborn, I don’t really like people from umuahia. I’m from Aba but my wife is from umuahia but she is the only good person from that side. All the other people I’ve met from umuahia are always rebellious, but I will try you and see . The other useless boy that left this shop is from anambra, that boy nearly created another shop inside my shop. He was making more money for himself than he was making for me. umuahia people... umuahia people... I hope you are humble oo, I don’t want a situation where I will shout for you now and you start fighting me. This is my shop oo
I wasn’t angry that the man said those things about Umuahia people. People are an embodiment of their experiences, so we should cut them some slack. We should strive to be better people Be an example wherever we are My best working experiences has been with people of other tribes, but it’s an individual thing.
