So you cant even read graphs and charts? Jesus, I truly am a saint grin

Lets start with table 2:

Since you love Sengambia a lot I'll focus on them:

When you add up all the different totals for slaves brought at each of the Navel districts, the final total for Sengambia is 5,741 for the Bight of Biafra the total is 16,474.

Table 3:

Jesus take the wheel, are you not familiar with percentages? parts of a whole? fractions? Come dear child I will help you kiss

For York District: The percentage of slaves from Sengambia is 7% for Bight of Biafra 53%
For Rappahannock District: Sengambia 48% Bight of Biafra 21%
For South Potomac District: Sengambia 74% Bight of Biafra 26%
For Upper James District: Sengambia 9% Bight of Biafra 44%
For Lower James District: Sengambia 57% Bight of Biafra 17%

Depending on the district one group was favored more than the other, so yes large amounts of slaves from the Bight of Biafra and Sengambia were brought to Virginia.

Johannesburg - Miss USA Nana Meriwether is expected to visit a Soweto school this week before jetting home to the States on Thursday.

Meriwether is on her official homecoming visit in the country. The beauty queen’s tour began in Cape Town on Thursday last week before she arrived in Joburg on Friday before paying a visit to Soweto.

The 28-year-old South African-born queen, paid her maternal grandparents a visit in the lavish township of Diepkloof Extension.

Meriwether said her trip to the country was to celebrate her title with her grandparents and South Africans.

“I’ve been waiting for six months to come here. After being crowned Miss USA, I went to the Miss Universe organisation’s offices and said my homecoming trip would be South Africa,” she said.

“I was born here. This is a lovely country with an amazing culture, hospitality and diversity,” she said.

Meriwether’s first stop in Soweto was at the Hector Pieterson Memorial Museum in Orlando West. She then proceeded to statesman Nelson Mandela’s house in the famous Vilakazi Street.

However, she said her visit to the country was not the same without the late photography legend, Alf Kumalo, who could have joined her grandparents to welcome her home.

“He was a true legend. Alf taught me about my culture and the country through his pictures. It is a pity he didn’t see me being crowned Miss USA,” said Meriwether.

When she arrived at her grandparents’ home, Meriwether greeted her grandfather Ephraim Kumalo, 89, with a golf club gift.

“This is my girl. I read about you in the newspapers this morning,” said her grandfather, before he was hugged and kissed on the cheek by Meriwether.

Meriwether had also spent time in Soweto last year to visit her grandparents.

Meriwether was crowned first princess in the pageant before taking over as Miss USA when the winner, Miss Rhodes Island[/b]

Why didn't you post the rest of the article? She was runner up and only became Miss USA after the actual winner Miss RI was made Miss Universe grin

That's like a vice president becoming President because something happened to the actual President. Yeah your President, by default.

Is there no end to your half truths? grin

She is a very pretty girl, so at least that's the silver lining in your cloud of complete BS.

Why would Igbo people need t be jealous? They have represented Nigeria several times in the Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss Nigeria, and countless other pageants. Pageants are supposed to be fun and glamorous things so what exactly is your point?

And furthermore Nigerians of all ethnic backgrounds are married to AA, Afro Caribbeans, Afro Latinos, and other Africans for ages, is this big news for South Africans? And I thought you guys were exposed people sad

Dude can you not read your own graphs

For Sengambians they were only in a higher percentage in Anguilla, the Bight of Biafra had a higher percentage everywhere else.
For Central Africa, the region contributed a higher percentage of slaves in St Kitts, Berbice, and Anguilla.

But here is the part that will blow your mind, on the far right hand side is a column that says total British Slave Trade between 1790-1807, Sengambia comprises 7% of the total slaves, Central Africa 30.8%, and Bight of Biafra 40.5%. I'll admit that math is not my strong suit but I do believe 40.5% is bigger than 7% and 30.8%.

But that's just basic math though. smiley

Damn shame.

To be honest, the fact that we are even arguing about how many slaves came from where is silly. Slavery was a sad and dehumanizing experience, I'm honored the strides that people of African descent in the Americas made not only for themselves but for the future generations that would come after them. The life I have today is thanks to them, demanding their full inalienable rights in a place where they were seen a second class humans not fit for anything but being someone's property.

However, I think its in everyone's interest to challenge ignorance and half truths and whole lies wherever they may be. I don't think that AA are majority Igbo descendants, but I do believe the Igbo people contributed their portion just like all other groups did. That's it.

I sort of thought this in the beginning but now I'm pretty sure that you are a complete id!ot grin

For every year on that chart the Bight of Biafra contributed more slaves than Sengambia, West Central, South East, Upper Guinea, and the Windward Coast. The only region that surpasses it is the Bight of Benin, which again is not Sengambia nor Central Africa. Sengambia contributes a grand total of 479,900 while the Bight of Biafra contributes a grand total of 1,463,700, how in the hell is the former greater than the latter? Hell you'd have a leg to stand on if you said the Gold Cost or Bight of Benin, but Sengambia and the rest not even close undecided

Good job, Crayola. The guy doesn't even know common basic percentages and charts. Is that the kind of person we should be arguing with? From his level of reason, that guy is still a child.

One funny thing is that nairaland is a faceless forum. If you were to see this kind of guy live, you'd be wondering why you even got into an argument with him in the first place. He won't be the type of person you'd argue with on an ordinary day.

You did a good job. Quit the argument. When nobody replies him he'll shamelessly leave. He's been trying to incite this argument since from other threads since 2 months ago, nobody responded. Then he found this thread and saw it was active.

Please don't argue with him any more.

Thumbs up.

I'm even surprised you and Crayola put up with it this long.

At a point I couldn't understand what the argument was all about. I don't think anybody claimed only Igbos were exported. 12 million Africans were exported, about 1.3 million of them were Igbo. The argument was about whether they were exported in significant numbers and whether they formed a substantial part of african-american and afro-caribbean ancestry. I'm yet to see evidence that they did not.
