bet hw will dat solve the problem with many sychophants and back stabbers!

Not an immediate concern. Those who want to support the Govt will fight on the Government's side. The truth remains that this country desperately needs a bloody revolution. The type that compels the Govt to respect the people.

What are u even saying?

Listen to yourself talk, d FG revamping Ph refinery is a step in the right direction, this will stop Dangote from having monopoly over the market.

U people can't even think basic things and u are shouting Biafra
The timeline for the rehabilitation is about 4 years(44 months), by then they would have cashed out and be out of power to enjoy their loot. While the refinery remains moribund, and the next administration will come and award their own Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) to chop and quench in 2023.

It's worse than a banana republic right now. The Nigerian state is merely a functional dystopia. Nothing short of a bloody revolution that purges this country of these crop of greedy rent seekers can heal her.

I disagree

A plan has been laid out to make it work, this also includes inviting the people/company whoi built them in the first place.

With great effort and determination we can make it work. This government has shown in the past what it takes to make things work
Are you serious? Which ones are working under this present administration?? I do really hope this is for real and that the refinery would work but I don't anything coming from present government unfortunately. Until and unless I see a visible change to that..

Dangote is doing a bigger one(650 million BPD) that has fertilizer plant and pipeline of 500km at $12 billion. Subtract the extras and divide by 3 to see what a new PH refinery may cost. They are thieves.
650 million barrels per day? Are you sure it's 650 million or u just dey catch cruise.

18 months plus 24 months rehabilitation work eh.

That's 3 years and 6 months.

By then, Buhari would have left office.

By then, how much are we going to be buying PMS?

Some of you just talk for the sake of it. When I've kachikwu made those proposals, which were approved by the FEC, didn't the Senate block it from taking off? Didn't melaye on the senate floor described it as another means to do the shady privatisation of the past? Even when kachikwu came out to say they were not selling the refinery but returning it to the initial people who built it to refurbish it at their own cost after which they will operate it for some years to recoup their money before handing it back to FG,. The senate still blocked it. Go and check the records
Maybe you should check out the reason why the concession was suspended by the senate because if i can remember the senate said that the observance of corporate governance principles and the country’s extant laws were not followed. The truth is that the Minister made a promise he couldn't bring to reality, making excuses on his behalf is just out of place.
As a leader before making any promise we need to envision the challenges and also have clarity on how to overcome them.

Can they sell the refinery to the host communities for a symbolic 1 Naira?

Let them figure out what could be done.

$1.5 billion is enough to build a new refinery from scratch.

Buhari, Nigeria's petroleum minister should be ashamed of himself.

Maintenance is the key to every project because if that refinery is getting a proper maintenance from time to time since it was built, then there will be no need to spend this huge amount of money for rehabilitation. If after the rehabilitation and there is no maintenance plan put in place then it will be back to square one.

Why are we wasting money on a venture that is not profitable? 80% of that money will be stolen by our politicians.

Just a waste of resources. Government should not be in charge of viable assets such as refinery, or any profitable business. Running a refinery requires a very prudent, straight forward structure devoid of government beaurecracy. Decision of type of crude to refine (light, heavy or sour crude), blending process to achieve output optimization and other necessary decisions revolving around profitability of refinery should not be colored with nepotism, incompetence or government involvement.

Please and please, stop this madness of trying to revive the refinery. Sell, lease or joint venture this refinery to capable private companies so that Nigeria can get the best bang for its bucks.

This is wickedness of the highest order
Imagine, by that time Dangote's refineries would have began production in full force
,Even if Dangote's refineries didn't come on board, do you expect us to wait till whole 3years, before buying Nigerian made fuel ?

As far back as 10 years ago the FG was reliably informed that the Refineries were beyond rehabilitation and new ones needed to be built.

This may be another attempt to Siphon pubic funds for some officials

Buhari only has two years left

Another $1.5b down the drain the cabals benefiting from the rot will definitely not allow the refineries to function to optimum capacity this has been going on since the time of obj.
