I also faced depression 3 years ago.
I was also going to Commit suicide until my
conscience directed me to read a book titled
"A wanderer in the Spirit Lands by Franchesso
Farnesse".

After that i decided that i was never going to
commit suicide.

I black listed 3 emotion as the cause of my
depression:
Guilt,
Remorse,
and Self-Pity.

Till today i don't feel any of these emotions.

Lastly: I Would Rather Disappoint Family,
Friends, and everyone else; than to Commit
Suicide.

I told him if he puts all effort and passes his upcoming external exams, I will buy him a game console.. Was surprised when his teacher called me the other day and was like my son has really improved and she decided to probe further from him when he opened up. She told me that I should try to keep to the end of my own bargain

you are definitely right, same as my 7 year old boy, I gist with him like my age mate, bought him games and still promise him more b4 the can be performing better in school and what wall clock correctly.

Bayelsa Student Commits Suicide After Family Members Tagged Him A Failure (Photos)

200-level student of History and Diplomacy in the Federal University Otuoke (FUO), Arikekpar Lucky, allegedly suffering from depression, has committed suicide, IgbereTV reports.

It was gathered that the 27-year-old student popularly known as Don Zednas, hung himself with a rope tied to a ceiling fan in the early hours of Monday, March 22, after locking the doors and windows.

The deceased, a one-time aspirant of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) Student Representative, Central Zone, hails from Otuakeme, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.

Sources in the university community said the student took the drastic step because he had been battling with depression because members of his family tagged him a failure in academics and life.

Arikekpar was said to have left a suicide note expressing frustrations with the pressure from his relatives, saying they left him with no option than to kill himself for peace to reign.

A source, who spoke to newsmen said that this is not the first time the deceased had attempted to take his life, adding that he had made such attempts twice last year.

"His family is always complaining that he spends too much effort, time and money on Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) politics rather than facing his studies.” the source said.

Confirming the incident, the student union leader, Mr Kojo Debekeme, explained that the student died out of depression, as he could not cope with some family issue again.

A family member, who pleaded anonymity, said that the young man has been buried "according to the tradition of the Ogbia people when such tragic incidents occur."

Spokesperson of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the incident, said no official report has been made at the headquarters yet.

Meanwhile, friends and colleagues have taken to Facebook to mourn the deceased.

What a pity. I see on his face that desire to be someone fulfilled in life. But he couldn't handle the pressure. What a pity!

It takes failure to recognize another failure. The family member never achieved anything, if he did, na ritual or embezzlement. It takes extra mind to call a fellow failure especially in Nigeria where nothing, I mean nothing is working.

I laugh whenever people say our parents raised us well. I asked, who raised those criminal politicians, who raised our bandits, who raised our Boko haramist, who raised our fake Pastors/Imams, who raised people stealing money in our offices, who raise people collecting bribes in all our Govt parastatals. If they had raised us well, our society won't be this messy because people form family and family form society. Everything you see in Nigeria today is a reflection of our homes.

This generation needs to change the paradigm. Brute force is not always the answer. Every kid is peculiar. You shouldn't raise your last child the same way you raise your first child. They are different personalities. Some kids need to be pampered. They need incentives to do well. Some kids are mentally strong from their mother's womb, no matter how harshly you talk to them, they are still bouncing. We need to discover the category that each of our kid falls into and treat them differently. Our people thought Oyibo people are mad because they don't beat their kids at schl or home. They have done a series of research and discovered beating kids like armed robbers does not work.

People that failed professional exams get frustrated did they kill themselves?? You can imagine someone that finished medicine all his colleagues have pass medical school and he is still struggling after five years to pass the exams in an impunity and corrupt educational institution like Nigeria, did he kill himself? The other day we saw a medical student that is pushing wheal barrow, the University of ibadan did not give him a second chance did he kill himself

How did they tag him a failure? Even the report said that his family were concerned about the amount of money, time and other resources he was dedicating to IYC. Perhaps, that misplaced priority had led him to having a shiitty CGPA which led suicide. He left his study and was chasing after the useless union post. Typical of some of students.
