Calm down, go to them, talk politely with them, worst case, they will ask you to add money to the present land so that he can go else where to get another land that's if the entire family will be foolish to allow him have his way that's if its not a family trick

It's cheaper for you that way than to relocate you deeper inside to start afresh with another cost of building

Just settle with them amicably and if you are paying back to them to save your land, py in beats while you continue your project
thank God we have brighter women in the society than weak minded people like you.

Isn't that LUTH land in Ifo?
Biko, nothing can be done about it, people's houses were demolished some years ago, surprised that land is now been sold again.

I also want to mention this ... I hope those guys have not been selling that land I thought they fence it that year

With omonilè, all lands are for sale.
I've seen someone living on a half plot, with his house fully completed, yet they still sold part of it with his eyes wide open

To cut a long story short, I bought the land at Ifo, Ogun State. I have the family receipt, and the deed of assignment. After hustling to build the structure, it now remains roofing and finishing.

However, I heard today from the family representative that a son of the land seller wants to demolish it to build a church. I'm also a christian, but this is quite surprising.

Once again, I only have the land receipt and deed of assignment. Also, I have spent over 2million naira on the structure.

What should I do to be on the safer side?
For now don't use force.
You have all the necessary documents to start your CofO process and I'll advice you start that Immediately!
Don't confront him yet, if he wants to make trouble try to delay and drag on until the CofO is out.
You can fast track the process by greasing palms.
Lodge a formal police complaint while this is also going on.
Make sure you become more prayerful and careful....

Since there is a previous demolition that is even very recent, just see it as a bad investment and walkaway. You can't process the documents at lands registry as they won't give it to you despite paying huge sum for it, so it's best you take the bitter pill now.

You need whats called an Interim Injunction against the Ogun Stating Housing Corporation

Its a court order that would legally stop the demolition and maintain status quo

Thereafter, you will sue the Ogun State Housing Corporation to court for trespass in a seperate suit

Also, on the side, have some funds in place for thug or police or mopol to help you resist anything on the land should they ignore the court order

if you have a good lawyer whether you are a legal occupier on the land ooo or you are an illegal occupier, the case might take up to 10 years in court before a verdict at the supreme court is made final

This is how land cases are

in that time im sure you would built your structure to the end

So dont be scared, be ready for action

You Sha want lawyers to cash out on him, the house will be eventually demolished.

You have no problem since you have the family reciept. Don't start to display any apprehension, let the son of the land seller confronts you first. If he makes any direct threat, go to Ifo police area commander office to lodge your complaint, arrest him and the representative that gives you information cos he provides them with your information too. Don't just go to any police station to make arrest

I bet the representative and his clique wants more money from you.

You don't need to waste your money on a lawyer. A lawyer is a business man too
you write off a lawyer till it gets bad. Then you bring your damaged matter to a semi God lawyer to clean your mess. Oga go and see a lawyer . Don not listen to ppl like this.

This used to be an issue in Edo state about 5yrs ago... It was horrible.

But thank God for the Great Oba of Benin kingdom, now you can build 100 storey skyscraper and won't pay a dime to anybody.

Your governors and traditional leaders know what to do but they won't do it because this is their revenue avenue.

Perfect advice, @spider since you already have a structure on it, you have no reason to worry, they want to cash out on your worry, worst case scenario is to add some cash to what you have already paid and make sure you are given receipt.

Sue their asses but round them up with soldiers. Nobody will try to enter your land again. Get the man that sold the land to you arrested today. Detain him, and write a statement claiming he defrauded you and is threatening your life. Round up anyone that wants to speak for him. They should provide all the omo- oniles threatening you. Everybody go scatter. I'm talking from experience

I'm not the only one, 50 houses were marked plus I didn't know house's have been demolished there in 2015, we went to the housing corporation in Abeokuta they said they are angry that despite the fact they they demolished houses there before that people have reconstructed and also built new houses.

And me I didn't know anything, I just buy dey build.

Is there any hope of winning this case.

Why didn't you say this before?

Start removing your blocks and whatever u can sell on the construction so far and look for another land to buy.

Next time do ur research well before paying for any land.

Yoruba people sometimes behave like the Gwari folks in Niger, Abuja and Kaduna. They are scammers when it comes to land issue, the only place I know very well that you can buy land and build in it peacefully in Nigeria is the North and mostly from the the Hausa indigenes, they're 90% honest.
If not the religion intolerance and mostly the insecurity now,Northern Nigeria is the best place to live and make decent money and above all, train your child/children to be God fearing.
