He cannot finace the club if he eventually purchases it. His financial strength can't carry the weight.

It's very easy to run into deficit and debt when you manage such a big club like Machester United. He isn't buying the club (physically) but he is buying history, culture and reputation which must be preserved by splashing cash season in, season out. Otherwise, the club will begin to lose its relevance and reputation and after which; the fierce fans will begin to protest for him to sell to another willing buyer.

Think of Mike Ashley of Newcastle.

Nigerians running abroad to buy clubs while the NPFL is in total shambles.

I can't imagine the fan base of Man U and Arsenal should our money bags buy them over.

NPFL is not a league but a "jeun jeun" competition.

Does he roll with the world top billionaires?

Now, apart $rom money.

There is the entrepreneurship skill. Does he have football experience talk more of football politicking ?

English people won't even allow him and his clique to buy Man U.

The Manchester United shares will collapse if any Blackman make a Bidding to buy and the world fan Base will abandoned the club.

He no easy

Man united is hot Akara and Elumelu is not in the clique of world billionaires.

We are talking $ and £ here .

Stop putting him in a spot.

I don't think he rolls with the top world billionaires for them to trust him with their millions. We all know how precarious football biz is.

You don't need to be a billionaire to roll with one.

For e.g. Many people may think Daniel Levy is the 'Main man' @ Tottenham but that's only in executive decision making. A lesser known Joe Lewis is the Major investor, himself a bonafide billionaire.

It could be a matter of trust. Once you're trusted, you could front for many of these guys who own the clubs.

Everyone saying buy Nigeria fail to notice that almost all the NPFL clubs are government owned and run....

....is that not enough reason not to touch it. Hear this. If Nigerians want development they should crave investment. If they crave investment then they should demand government leaves first. And let the enterprise be entirely private sector run in and out, top to bottom.

The first and most important thing that will happen next is that arbitration is possible. This factor alone will attract investment.

Think of Mike Ashley of Newcastle.

He can always raise debt to handle that. Haba. Most of these folks have borrowed to run those clubs after buying them particularly the American owners of United, Pool and Arsenal. Barca and Real are on speed dial to major Spanish banks.

You don't have to be an oligarch or an oil sheikh to own clubs. Just inherit the financial structures once you buy out and a whole host of financial houses will be queuing up to rudder you along.

Remember when you buy those huge clubs you are also inheriting a chain of assets as well including corporate sponsors, suppliers, asset managers, etc, all either eyeing the brand or a share of the huge potential earnings.

Well, except you are buying into a rundown, almost bankrupt and whitewashed brand that was Chelsea Fc just before Roman rode to the rescue at the grave site all those years ago.

if I get your point right.

An investor (Tony Elumelu) would buy a huge club, Manchester United club, then for some reasons, the club suddenly takes a financial down turn and begins to operate on deficits and debts. Then the banks would happily grant it financial aid because it's a football club with according to you:

"chain of assets as well including corporate sponsors, suppliers, asset managers, etc, all either eyeing the brand or a share of the huge potential earnings."

Note - A club with your quoted statement above is a financially healthy club. So we wouldn't be talking about financial aid/distress in this case.

My point is; Aside Ads and Tv rights source of revenue, Would the banks happily bail you out if your statement above suddenly dwindles and the club financial woes drags it down the table to the brink of RELEGATION?

This is where owner's financial power is relevant.

Those commenting above are kids. Lol. One even was talking about Dangote like he cannot buy Arsenal. Lol. When Dangote is ready, he will buy Arsernal and add ManU join. These people do not know who Dangote is. Even Abramovich who owns Chelsea pays homage to Dangote anyday, anytime. These small boys dont know who Dangote is oooo. I just dey laugh. Abramovich that is a kid. All Dangote needs to do is sit with big boys there. And ask them...what they want. As long as he can give them what they want, that's it. Small boys are so many in this NL. Anyway, the KEY is silence. Move codedly and conquer grounds. That's it. How much is the value of ManU they say Dangote cannot buy. He will buy ManU, Arsenal, Liverpool ...even join Chelsea.

Elumelu may not have the cash, but he's got the network and they will sit with the owners and the big boys there. As long as their own interests meet the interests of the british, they will have it. But he has said it..he doesnt want to get involved with sports politics. It's not money for him. Baba is into world banking and finance. That is the game he understands and the water he swims in.
sir what is ur reason for saying Abramovich is Dangote's boy?
Abramovich is worth $14.8billion while Dangote is worth $11.9billion.
Abramovich asides owning oil Wells in Russia,is also an ex governor of one of Russian richest state, additionally he's one of PRESIDENT PUTIN'S close peddy/business ally.so considering PUTIN'S influence as world number two influential and feared man,who do u think should be regarded as a boy, between Abramovich and Dangote?

Is a shame that despite all the billionaires Nigeria have, we cannot galvanise a strong league which can be a pride of Africa.

Dangote wants to buy Arsenal while this man wants to buy Man U.

Cant Nigeria come up with a strong plan to get these guys buy our club and make it very gainful.

We can even say the winner of our league will get oil blocks to take it away from useless politicians.

To be a black is surely not a day job.
is the league him self organize? how much do the league winners earn?

Nigeria as a country will never developed because our people only love foreign things.

Nigeria used to have a good football league in the 70s and 80s like ICC shooting stars, Abiola babes FC, Bendel insurance, Leventis, Enugu Rangers etc but where are these clubs today.

We can’t manage or develop anything.

This is a country where 90% of the super rich made there money from politics

I know him more than you. The "boy" thing may be an exaggeration, or may not. Lol. Dangote has more assets and has always been richer than him. But Dangote's refinery is the main thing slowing him down, plus Buhari incompetence. This is why his wealth looks like it's going down. Guy, just wait till he starts selling. His fertilizer industry is in operation now. Then combine it with his oil refinery. And hopefully, another block head like Buhari will never be our president again. I can not wait till 2023 that "fufu" brain Buhari is gonna return to his cows in Daura.

Meanwhile, Abramivich is not a partner or close "peddy" of Putin. He is Putin's boy. I know when he was a governor. It doesnt mean anything. Go and read about Kadakovskiy Vs Putin? Who's Kadakoskiy? Lol. And learn how Putin showed him that he is a boy. There is another one Putin is dealing with presently. This one escaped yo Germany almost dead, but chose to walk back to Moscow after God spared his life. Lol.

Do not ever compare Abramovich with Dangote. Dangote is a business man. Abramovich is a front man. Didnt you read about a journalist who Abramovich is about taking yo court because of the burst that he bought Chelsea as instructed by Putin? Lol. If Putin wants to turn him to a pauper today, it doesnt take 24 hours. But Dangote is a man. Why do you think the UK has refused Abramovich to enter for how many years now? Cos they realised later who actually is behind the purchase. Lol. They will frustrate him till someone else buys that club from him. They made the mistake because they didnt research well, and they will protect the club from the strong man of Russia. So, relax....Abramovich is a boy where Dangote speaks. Bill Gates talks where Dangote talks. And he calls Aliko, my friend. Just wait and see the wealth of Alhaji in the next 5 years. And then, wait till he brings in nuclear power to Nigeria very soon. Gates is already talking about nuclear power as the future. And wait till he becomes a major shareholder of electric vehicles industry in Naija. Why do you think Ote$ is always with him? Abramovich is a boy compared to Dangote. Take it or leave it.

So, you think football is run on loss? Lol. The money they make will pay the salary. Go and look at Chelsea's financial statement.....Abramovich was able to buy the club cos it was running on loss. No business can survive on loss. So why will he pay the salary of staff for 10 years from his pocket? But for the past 4 years or so, Chelsea has been making profit. Meaning that when yoy put all expenses, all cash used to buy players and salaries, the clubs has been making profit.

Football is business. It is not NNPC (govt owned coy) which runs on loss. No subsidy or bail out. Lol. It is why Arsenal will likely sell the club to Dangote. Why? He is a successful business man. He knows how to manage money.

Stop making assumptions and stop bringing the rubbish you always discuss at football watching centers to where intellectuals are. The business aspect is too complex for many of you. Just enjoy the game, drink a bottle of whatever when watching games, go home, sleep afterward, ....discuss only the game. The financial aspect is too advance for most Nigerians.

Go and get the financial records of Barca, Arsenal, Chelsea, Juventus, ManU, Madrid, ManCity and which other one oooo....ok...add Bayern to it. And see the money in football. Why do you think ESL was tackled seriously?

I hope you have learned something from my post.

Goodluck.
