Dr. Mrs. Juliana Obiageri Akidi, has assumed office as the Librarian of the Alex Ekwueme Federal Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State. She replaced Dr. O. O. Adediji whose tenure expired in 2020, during the national lockdown occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Until her appointment by the University Governing Council at its Extraordinary Meeting held on Friday, 23rd April, 2021, Dr. Akidi was the Deputy Librarian at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.

While taking over the mantle of leadership yesterday, Dr. Akidi noted that she would be loyal and dedicated to her duties, adding that the University library under her watch would witness efficient and effective service delivery.



“I will be loyal and dedicated, and will ensure efficient service delivery at the University library.”

She also stated that the confidence the University Governing Council reposed in her would not be betrayed.

“Having collected the handover note, I want to assure you that the confidence reposed in me will not be betrayed.”

Dr. Akidi further used the opportunity to appeal for the support of the University Management in providing all the necessary facilities to enable her delivery on the job, noting that she had an enormous work at hand in trying to reposition the University library for efficient service delivery.



The former Coordinator of the University Library, Mr. Ejike Igwebuike, while handing over the reins of power to the new librarian, expressed his appreciation to the University Management for their support during the one year he was in charge of the library, and appealed that the same level of support be accorded to the new librarian to enable her succeed and deliver on her mandates.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Elom, while speaking at the event thanked the former Coordinator of the University library for holding forth when the tenure of the former librarian ended. The Vice-Chancellor also praised his dedication to duty and wished him well.

“Let me on behalf of management, staff and students of our university thank you for your dedication to duty” adding ‘You bridged the gap very well when the former librarian left.”

Addressing the new librarian, the Vice-Chancellor assured her of the unflinching support of the University Management to ensure she succeeds. He also promised to make her comfortable in order to galvanize her to perform at optimal level.

“We welcome you on board. We are happy that you joined us. We will do our best to ensure you succeed.

“We will make you comfortable to make sure you perform your duties very well”, the Vice-Chancellor concluded.
