cococandy:All you wrote us true, I'm yet to give birth, but, I have stayed with my sister when she gave birth to her second child. You won't believe that baby kept us awake one day from 11pm to 6am. she fell asleep by that 6am. at a time, her mother broke down and start crying. if not for me who calmed her down and asked her to go and sleep while carry the baby till morning. in the morning, my sister was damn angry with her husband. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Swinger60:@bold, All new moms have done this. Even with help. I don’t know how to articulate the exhaustion. The other day I was comforting my friend over the phone for the same issue. I think what makes it worse is that as the new mom, you’re not assuming the role from a place of perfect health and fitness. Rather you’ve been pregnant for nine months and didn’t have time to recover your strength before jumping into the role of new mom. It’s just a culmination of the months of prenatal sickness, tiredness and even lack of sleep during the later months of pregnancy. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

cococandy: After going through all and over these, did you come out feeling like a different person from how you were (before having your first child)? Did you feel transitioned? If you did, how did you accept/cope with the change? |
Re: What Is It Like After Pregnancy? by cococandy(f): 6:27pm On May 17, 2021 |
mariahAngel: Definitely! 1) I was a big softie before I had my kids. Like I cried so easily and abhorred physical confrontations. I can say I’m a TOTALLY different person in that regard. Not necessarily hardened but I’m much stronger. How can I and my baby stay crying at the same time? I still hate confrontations but if I have to, imma step up to it. When you have to keep someone else apart from yourself alive and cared for, you quickly learn to shed some characteristics that can get in the way of doing a good job. I know I would take a life before I let someone hurt my kid/s and that requires putting unnecessary softness away. I actually don’t miss that old soft me. 2) I feel like my heart grew and I can empathize more. With almost anyone. Much more than I used to. 3) my patience and tolerance grew. 4) A lot of your time when you’re not at work is spent around the kids. It can be frustrating if you’re someone who likes peace and quiet. (And I do). Once they start talking, they don’t stop. There’s never a quiet moment unless they are sleeping. I haven’t adjusted to this. Someone send help please. 6 Likes 1 Share |

cococandy: Wow! You know I've always wondered about that, and I think a lot of women find it difficult to accept/adjust to the new person they've become. This is actually a very good topic, and you've been of major help so far. Thanks a lot. As for the bolded, you just have to learn to enjoy it...they're not always going to be that little |

Re: What Is It Like After Pregnancy? by cococandy(f): 6:54pm On May 17, 2021 |
mariahAngel:That’s absolutely true. Part of the problem being that many of us don’t even understand why the changes occur. There’s scientific evidence to prove that women’s brains undergo physical changes during pregnancy and childbirth. The changes happen due to female adaptation to physiological occurrences during that time and the following caregiving role expectations. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6440938/ So yes a person can become very different after childbirth and won’t know why. 1 Like 1 Share |

In fact, you can do some exercises to stay fit but you must do it very carefully and first consult your doctor: https://womanlylive.com/a-guide-to-pregnancy-safe-workouts-to-stay-fit/ |

Re: What Is It Like After Pregnancy? by cococandy(f): 6:50am On May 21, 2021 |
Hathor5: I admit there’s the tendency to scare which is why a lot of women don’t talk about it. Because the last thing you want is to scare a mom-to-be. But I feel there’s enough positive out there about being pregnant and having a baby that the new moms will understand that it’s also not all negative. So they just know realistically what to expect. cococandy: That's why it's important to have someone around to help if it's possible. For me, I plan to go stay with my eldest sister when I am having my second because the first wasn't easy even with the people I had around who I thought would help. Help is really important so that the new mum can rest and sleep too. 1 Like |
