I would have loved to remain anonymous, but what's the point?

My problem is I'm a jobless graduate, who works for a friend. This friend I work for, doesn't even pay, he just gives me stipends after every work I do. It's a laundry work. He owns the shop, so he's in charge of everything in the shop including, collections of money and all. My work is just to work. I do virtually everything in the shop.

My problem is this guy almost all the time collects the money and doesn't even give me my share. The only time I see my share is when the I'm around when the monies are given to him.

I'm hooked because I mostly feed in there house, because the shop is just within the house. I tried to get a good job, but nothing is forth coming. I even tried applying for casual jobs, still no luck.

I'm currently in a dilemma because my parents are tired of me staying in there house, so currently I sleep in the shop, and it's not even conducive, but that's the only option I have.

I tried contacting my relatives in Lagos if I could go and make a living there, but they aren't really interested me coming.

Please I kindly need advise and help, because I'm heading towards depression.

I'm actually 30 years old. With nothing to show for, except "I'm a graduate" tag.

hmmm, it is well. why not look for non certificate jobs like sales person, factory worker etc and start from there. you can start life with that, at least you will receive stable salary at the end of the months. later you can learn a good skills and start your business if good certificate job is not forthcoming

Why not start your own laundry shop, then approach family members and friends to assist you in getting a shop and a generator, you can buy the rest once you stabilize financially.

To me it's much better than your current state where you work yourself out only for another person to pocket your efforts.

I know a guy who was once in your shoes.. All his friends were doing the usual yahoo but the dude said NO to it... He was Honest, hardworking and a very hopeful Nigerian.
Last i heard he is now a crack addict and a pain on everybody's behind. I guess depression pushed him to drugs.

There's no moral to this real life story.

I wish there's a place you can stay in Lag. There are so many teaching jobs you can start with then from there you can move on to your dream job.

There are even schools that will offer you accommodation. A nairalander got an offer like that and shared it here last week or so.

There's even another that advertised in lekki. They offer accommodation too.

Search for the thread in education or jobs section. You may be lucky to find her post.

Also do not forget to keep praying to God to open a book of remembrance concerning you. Prayer works wonders.

Modified:
Osizo:
it will be well appreciated if you can give the link to the school and lekki.

For those asking me to drop the link, please my dearies, I don't have the link but I still have the number of the lady because I chatted with her then to come in as a part-timer but she said they need only full timers who can live in.

Now the problem is Im sceptical about giving out this number due to what is happening these days in Nigeria. I don't want to be connected with any problems. Please. Just search you'll find the post.

Type
"Teaching job with accommodation" it will pop up then you can get her contact from there.
But if you insist, ill drop it but I'm not in connection with it.

Will be following.

Hmmmm
Endure and be blind and deaf to anything that you feel is unjust for now and build the right contacts with food customer service to enable you create your mini laundry business or any other service based business that you get paid for your services.

That is why I will never advise a fresh graduate to come to Lagos in search of job when you don't have a decent place to stay with free food. You will end up wasting your years in Lagos with hand-to-mouth work.

Presently, Lagos is living on past glory. It only favours secondary school leavers, who are staying with their parents and can collect 15k job in Alaba International Market, Trade fair complex, Balogun Market, Ladipo Market , Computer Village as Sales girl/boy. The jobs are there for them. But for a graduate, look for something to do on your own, make contacts for Federal Government jobs and pray to God for divine intervention.

As for you OP. As far as you a graduate, it is wrong to think you have nothing to show. Some of your mates are still writing carry overs in school. You can still receive a call for a job that will surpass those that have been working for years. It is called grace.

Why not look for a teaching job around, get home lessons, meet people, gather money and open your own shop?
